Started with Franklin Ben Jones - Perseus 16mm - now Gen3 Perseus 16mm -- I play what I have until its worn out then upgrade and I like that shape so sticking with it. Whatever I am losing by not changing more, I am gaining by learning how to use what I have without the transition time of adjusting all my shots to a different feel.

@@BrionesPickleball and with the spin what better time to revisit the topspin drops and polish that up and who needs an excuse to hit more topspin ? - = what I will be telling myself as I hit those 10k balls so I do not fall into the "can't control it" population. I will control it and I will use it as the weapon it is, but its going to come at a heavy price...this I know.

Jordan saying he's more relaxed. If you drill like it's a game and game like it's a drill, it all blends in together. Eventually your blocks are removed and "in the zone" kicks in, aka flow state. It takes a while to get there though. Keep drilling!!

Yes, in your upcoming paddle review, I’d like shorter reviews with a wider range of paddles. You have had great reviews in the past! Playing with a Double Black Diamond and a Double Black Diamond Infinity right now and loving them.

I don't know if this would be possible, but it would be helpful to have paddles on a spectrum from control to power. All paddles are a mix, but it would be useful to know where along a line from "most control, least power" to "most power, least control" a particular paddle falls.

Thanks for your contribution to keeping us here in the "Pickleverse" informed. In 7 yrs I've owned 30 paddles. Sold and gave some away to new players and friends. Currently at 14 . Power is taking over the game. I want a "LUXX KILLER" Soft touch with a non-paint grit face. CHEETAH is planning to release a 20mm that I'm hoping plays soft. Selkirk needs to get rid of "paint grit"

Hey guys, any plans to review the Honolulu J2K/J2K Pro? I'm seeing a lot of people compare it favorably to the Ruby, which is one of Jordan's top 3, so I'd think you'd be interested. It has a lower swing weight but a higher twist weight (Jordan's #1 metric), the spin doesn't degrade, it has a larger sweet spot, it's cheaper, and you can actually order one (though they only do monthly releases). On paper, it seems pretty sweet. Would love to hear your take!

Hi Jordan - What are your thoughts on the GB Pro ? My feeling is because the sound is muted your inner ear can’t give you a accurate read on how fast it’s coming. Ask any center fielder. The sound of the ball off the bat helps them determine how far the balls hit. Doug Covert

This is true, but I would recommend the new Joola because of the control it has. Playing against the gearbox just takes some getting used to
@FueledByRyan0

I would take more paddle reviews at the cost of a little bit of detail on most. It would be more helpful to have a larger sample size available when selecting a new paddle. And we will all be pretty familiar with the BrionesPB general opinion on paddles that extreme detail won't be necessary for most.

Jordan, you are a Selkirk sponsored pro. You should know the main specs of the paddle you are playing with. The Luxx has a 20mm core, not 18mm. Maybe your ideal future paddle could be a 16mm version. That could lower the swing weight a bit and give you a bit more pop. I moved to the Volair Mach 2 Forza after playing with and enjoying the Luxx. I wanted more hand speed and a bit more pop. I've since moved on another step in the all court direction with the Mach 1 Forza because I still prefer to play with an elongated paddle.

I play the SZ Ruby, now. I like the power, control, I like the higher twist weight I like the lack of pop under pressure, but I dont like it for blocks and attacks at the NVZ because the pop at the NVZ is pretty weak . Im thinking of the G3 Joola in the Colin Johns model. Thoughts compared to the Ruby?

I'm would like if you maybe reviewed for less time but did more reviews. When you do your final thoughts who this is for and what level player should attempt to play this on average. Like the Joola's the Scorpius for example what level play should attempt to play with the power and pop of those. You are getting to be one of my favorite reviewers keep up the great work.

I know someone with a growing Pickleball brand. Most of the paddles come out of a few factories in China. He got sent samples of paddles which he knew were exact SixZero models amongst other big brand paddles. They would not allow manufacture of exactly the same paddles so he just needed to tweak subtle design changes but essentially the same paddle. There is almost zero IP protection in China. To think this won't happen to Gen 3 paddles is being optimistic unless Joola has strong patent protection and aggressively goes after competitors.

I disagree. It is important to review paddles at a mixture of price levels. Pickle ball at the high-end is too expensive because of the short life spans of paddles. I can justify spending $200 or $300 on a tennis racket that I can have restrung dozens of times, but it’s crazy to spend that kind of money on a paddle that wears out and needs to be replaced a couple of times a year. If your purpose is to be useful to the whole Pickleball community, then you need to look at the whole price range of equipment, beyond just the absolute basic, first-time beginners equipment. Don’t be the equivalent of the car magazines that cater to the snobby, Marie Antoinette types by only reviewing high priced performance cars instead of also covering the ones that 90% of us buy.
