Hey! I love your videos! I find them very helpful in my journey to applying for grad school. A lot of the schools I’m applying to dont say or specify if they want a statement of purpose or a personal statement. Would recommend to send both? As you mentioned in this video, one is more futuristic whereas the other is more about the past

Please you mentioned in your video on how to write SOP, and you said it is important to include prospective advisors or professors, is it okay to do that in the personal statement? I am asking that because you said the personal statement is more personal and focuses on the past. Thank you for your time.
Institution I am applying to has asked for just statement without specifying whether it is an personal statement or statement of purpose. What I've done so far is do a combination of the two in one statement.

Hello, one of the graduate programs I am applying to, is requiring a personal statement. The instructions say, “you are required to submit a personal statement that can be up to 1000 words in length(approximately 2 pages…” The way I read the instructions, it is okay to go over two pages. What is your interpretation? I am asking because of your previous line of work.

Often times, when I email program coordinator, they always reply that it's not needed to contact potential supervisors before applying as first-year would be lab rotations. What would you advice me on this, should I contact potential supervisors or not? Thank you so much!
Different programs have different requirements. Some will state it explicitly that you need to contact an advisor before/during your application. Some programs don't. Just go through the program website diligently for this information. If it's still not clear, mail the graduate program coordinator
