I am a native Staten Islander. I currently live here. It's homes and strip malls. There are a lot of parks. I like it better than the rest of the city.
I was born in Brooklyn, raised in Queens and currently on Long Island. I’ve spent time in EVERY major borough besides Staten Island, even though my mom grew up off Ft. Hamilton Parkway on the Bay Ridge side of the Verrazano. I got the idea driving back through from Jersey yesterday to find stuff to do and explore Staten Island, the one borough I’ve never really stopped in. Any recommendations? 😎👍🏻
A city among cities and appreciated by foreign person's and the greatest and most beautiful city I've seen this far thank god for new York I wouldn't want to live no where else.
This is where much of NYC's remaining white (Catholic) working to lower middle class reside. They fled (those who didn't leave New York State) from Brooklyn and Queens largely to Staten Island and Suburban Long Island. It's a place where the old "Taxi" "fudeddaboutit" culture is still alive.. Great video!
I grew up there and now live in VT - that's not my bmw, though! Haha. I still love going to Staten Island. Great food, great views, great people. Shoutout to Bari's Pizza!
NYC is the safest or secund safest big city in the United States. Btw NYC has low street homelessness because they are in shelters or transitional housing. In that regard New York State is number 1or 2 per capita but in terms of street homelessness it is far from the top. Nothing like the West Coast or other regions.
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS only those outside of NYC Those who’ve never step foot or drove around Come up with bullshit saying it’s smelly and homeless filled 😂😂
I'm sorry you didn't get to go to the southern parts of SI. Beautiful neighborhoods, lots of parks, surprisingly varied wildlife (deer, turkey, bald eagles, seals at the far south shore)
There's a street named after them, a big mural, the buildings of the clan, etc etc. As a matter of fact it's right up the street from where you drove @@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS
I've been to New York on vacation one time, I had a good time there. I've driven a truck through New York city on the freeways It was crazy just driving on 95 going through town. I couldn't imagine making a delivery there.
I was born and raised for 23 years on Long Island, and I’ve only ever been on Staten Island when I was driving through to get to Jersey. I’ve never actually spent real time on Staten Island. The only 3 places that I know about pretty well on the island are Tottenville, Grant City, and New Dorp.
If you go to New Jersey and are looking for a place to eat, try the Skylark diner in Edison. It is rated one of the best diners in NJ - and it isn't far from Staten Island.
I don't really go to Staten Island alot I remember last summer I took the Staten Island ferry from Manhattan to Staten Island it was free you can even bring your own cars on that ferry to and when you on that ferry you can get a good view of NYC and a good view of the Statue of Liberty I only rode the Staten Island Ferry once.
TBH if you are a true New Yorker (NYC resident) you can see and say this video could have been in any borough of NYC. It depends on where you go. We have the good, the bad, the ugly, and the most beautiful! 💯👍🏽 20:50 And this is one of the biggest frustrations of living in NYC if you are a driver -- finding a parking space that doesn't clean out your wallet, finding a parking space in time, finding a parking space that is not is not 1 to 3 LONG blocks from your destination!!🤦🏽♀
There are homeless people on the street in NYC. it depends where you go. I saw some in parts closer to Manhattan and near stations. And there's probably more in places where the rest of us don't go.
18:47 I been to that Ferry terminal when I took the Statue of Liberty from Manhattan to Staten Island then I took a Uber from the Terminal to the Staten Island Mall.
The cons of NYC is how expensive for a small room could be, the cold winters, and how how over crowded it is. Other than that, NYC is ad always will be a great city. Soo much diversity of culture. I live in The Bronx. What I really love is when I'm hungry and I wanna order food, i got a options of ordering many cultural restaurants within a mile radius. The people that truly hate New York because they're racist and hate any Blue state. Once I was commenting on some article about Hollywood and many southerners were bashing it and i made some reply and someone replied to me "why would anyone ever wanna live in NYC?", i looked at their profile and saw they were from Alabama, it figures
U out of Towner's make me puke, again new York city is not all Manhattan it has four other parts ok where there u might find it to be more relaxing and containable than Manhattan is what u call new York city
