Over time ... I was tested for cholesterol then I was prescribed Lipitor. Then, months later, the doctor thought I was prediabetic. Then, months later, I was prescribed Metformin. Then, then months later, the doctor said I was diabetic. All these things happened over time, but it all started with a statin. Now I have metabolic syndrome. Better that I never had taken the statin.

I had high blood pressure and the cholesterol at the upper limit. So, I got the classic treatment including statin. Six months later, my laboratory tests showed the glycemia was over the upper limit and my doctor said I have now diabetes and prescribed Metformin. Some months later, it happens the same thing to two friends of my age. This intrigued me, so I searched the internet for information. I found that statins increase blood sugar. I then decided to remove the statin. Glycemia fell below the upper limit. I am no longer diabetic. The statin is a scandal and many doctors don't know about that. Statin should be prescribe only to people with extraordinary high cholesterol rate.

THANK YOU!! And God bless you with good ✅ health. Ps, I've read 3 books on this Satan's Statins.... written by MDs who either took statins, or spouse did. 👉 FIRST, the NNT, "Numbers Needed to Treat" are very Dismal= only a 1% Absolute Decrease in risk reduction 👎🏻 Versus the HARM. NNH, " Numbers needed to harm" very high! Every person on a statin will experience Permanent Muscle Damage... statins target 🎯 an enzyme for muscle destruction. I will try to attach the Clinical paper showing biopsies... Risks are Higher than any benefit of toxic mycotoxin (mushroom) Which. Is. Statins. 👉Mechanism of action is to poison that precious Enzyme we have called, HMG-CoA; which is the 1st step in synthesizing Cholesterol-- the 2nd most important molecule in the body!!

I agree with you 100%. My Doctor is trying to force me to take a stain, but I refuse. They cause insulin resistance and worse and that worsens all cause mortality. I'll take my chances without statins... Also, why are statins banned in Europe?

Honestly you were probably quite Insulin Resistant if your FASTING sugars were already high enough that a drug brought you to the limit. Fasting insulin should be under 7, fasting glucose near 80. Over 100 fasting is a serious problem. A1C has been proven to be "unreliable" for many patients, feel free to research.

Dr. Ergin I love and admire you but there is NO way statins reduce heart attack risk 25 to 50% in any population. My aunts and uncles that took statins ended up with complications and passed in their 70's..my Grandma and Dad who refused statins, ate a good diet made it to 103 and 95 respectfully. No statins for me.

i was taking statins for about 20 years and when i became prediabetic i cut down a lot on carbs and reversed my prediabetes back to normal a1c. while cutting down on carbs my cholesterol and triglycerides went way down low, so my doctor took me off the statins. the culprit was the carbs and not the statins.

All of the test results I have seen/studied in the last 8 months of being a carnivore is that a statin drug only has about a 1% affect. That is not worth the side effects. No thank you. No. I have lost 45 pounds, my blood pressure has returned to about 130/80, I stopped snoring, no more sleep apnea, I am 61 and feel like 21, haven't been to a chiropractor in 8 months which is unheard of for me. Thanks Dr Ervin you really do know how to reassure people because I could not get detailed information from my Dr about my statins cholesterol meds . I am a type 2 diabetic and not on any meds I reduced my weight from 178lbs to 140lbs by myself just by changing my diet and walking 10,000 steps 4 days a week and other 3 days about 5,000 steps a day and eating 80% clean diet no sugar but 1/2 a cookie a day. A1C from 8.6 down to 6.7 in 5 months. So just now the last 3 weeks my Dr decided I must go on cholesterol meds but I am not planning to stay on it when my cholesterol goes down from 2.88. Hi Dr. Ahmet, thanks for sharing your video about taking statins. I used to take Atorvastatin (generic for Lipitor) 20mg for decades. I negotiated with my doctor should I discontinue taking statins? My doctor replied, according to the American Diabetic Association, I should still continue taking statins as well as baby aspirin on a daily basis. In addition, I also take the herbal supplement, Ubiquinol CoQ-10, 200mg along with my statin so as to lower the effect of my blood sugar. Therefore, my doctor lowered the statins to 10mg instead. My doctor is very pleased with my blood work. Once again, thanks for sharing this video on statins. God bless you. ❤️🙂👍✌️🦉🙏.

Thank you for your explanation of Statins. It's given me new insights to discuss with my Doctor. In my mid 40 now 64 I was put on lipitor lowest dose. I began having memory loss couldn't remember names at work or even family members names and had lost alot of memories between my 20 and 40 and was very forgetful throughout the day. Some of those memories are just gone to this day I'm not sure if Statin drugs or having my cholesterol lowered so low caused my memory loss. But after stopping Lipitor my memory returned to normal except for those earlier memories which were more elusive to retrieve, if at all. But as you said is Relitive Risk Reduction (RRR) is what Doctors tell their patients. But (ARR) Absolute Risk Reduction should be the number pointed out to patients. This too me tells you what your true mortality benefit is. The last trial in 2017 for all Statin's in the "Fourier Study" showed a RRR 59% But only a 0.1% mortality benefit in the ARR. So for higher risk patients there was 1 in a thousand who would benefit and be saved by taking a Statin. Any form of dementia scares the day lights out of me. I will again go back to keto diet which worked well to reduce overall LDL and reduced my Triglycerides. My guess having a good HDL to LDL ratio and low Triglycerides is what were shooting for. But the standard test does not point out the types of LDL size and density done by Berkeley University years ago. Big LDL "floaty" type verses small high density LDL. Keto diet I believe gives you the benefit of the larger LDL which is beneficial opposed to the small particle LDL which builds up in your Arteria's. Thank you for pointing out two additional test that can give additional info to whats going on inside my Arteria's.

Basically if you have high LDL but don't eat a lot of carbohydrates or sugar than you will be just fine but if you do eat lots of carbohydrates and sugar while also having high LDL then you're probably in trouble.

I have high ldl cholesterol for 40 years. I fractioned the ldl and found 100% of it S1 which is low density fluffy cholesterol. 10 years ago the calcium score was zero. Please let me know your opinion.

Cut the carbs to reduce VLDL. Familial hypercholesterolemia that die early, just a small subset actually, have high clotting factors. Most of them live long or longer than the wider population

I'm 36 and my ldl's have been around 230 to just recently 360. Im freaking out. The doc is saying to watch it for 3 months and then she will test again. Recently I've been doing the keto/if (i still eat carbs but not a lot) thing. Does that relate to ldl and is it possible for ldl to fluctuate on an eating pattern like this? Am I going to die like tomorrow? Side note I take b1 supplements fish oil (cod liver oil and krill) and d3, I get my vitamin k in two kiwis a day.

Hello Doctor Ergin, I have found your video's have given me a wealth of information. I am a diabetic who has lowered by A1C down to 5.7 three months ago and have dropped several medications , Trulicity , and Glipizide ER along with dropping from 2000 mg metformin a day to 500 mg metgormin a day. I was as high on my a1c over 7. I recently have seen a video that advised of possible higher risk of dementia by taking one of five . Atorvastatin , Fluvastatin, Lovastatin , Pitavistatin, and Simvastatin. but two seem not to have any known problems . The two are Pravastatin and Rosuvastatin. i have been using Simvastatin for 18 years and it has kept my cholesterol according to my Primary doctor excellent . What do you know about the possibility of a relation of the statins and dementia ? The reference was the Journal of Nuclear Medicine.

i reversed my prediabetes to normal a1c by cutting down a lot on carbs. and also my cholesterol and triglycerides went way down so i stopped taking the statins. the culprit was the carbs and not the statins.

I keep my ldlc in low. 30’s, apiB in low 40’s, minimal lp(a) .. at 66yo, I’m plant based plus fish … recent ct angiogram CAC :0, “no vessel disease”, “normal valves” … lp-pla2:66, MPO:220, hsCRP:0.16 … I LOVE taking my 10mg rosuvastatin and 10mg ezetimibe .. I truly feel it’s saving my life and vastly extending my healthspan. Never had any side effects from statins, I also don’t care about “Risk” calculator .. I’m really focused on NOT accumulating soft plaque in my arterial wall. (Recent cimt showed soft plaque at 500 .. 45yo age equivalent). To my way of thinking, every body part needs arterial oxygenated blood supply, any reduction / stenosis of arterial diameter will starve my body of oxygen and cause rapid aging. I’m not worried about stroke or MI … I am worried about the multitude of stenotic vessel diseases.

@sueambrozy

Should statins be used to treat people with extremely high HDL? I have recently been prescribed a low dose statin to treat HDL that is normally between 100 -120 mg/dl. LDL is typically high normal; triglycerides normal; ratio is typically 1.4:1. Total cholesterol typically around 240 to 260. Some doctors have said they are uncertain how to treat this. 67 yo female. Have followed a plant-based diet most of my life but still cannot lower my total cholesterol.

Thank you Dr.Ergin for this information. I reversed .y diabetes last year on a plant based diet with the help of Metformin & Statin 40 mg....my LDL went to 66! I decided to go off medicine because my nutrionalist shared some info with me from Dr.Gregors nutrional facts video. It basically said it help 1 of of 10,000 people...& nutrition is more helpful. But there are some people who have higher ldl naturally. I gained some weight back & of course my my ldl went up....I wish SugarMd Dr. would do a video on Naturesway choestol off....I hear it acts like a statin...I decided to cut my dose in half from 40 to 20mg...because I do recall my memory givibg me issues when on a statin. It went away after I stopped. I am losing weight & exercising like crazy trying to get my hdl higher...are there certain foods to eat to increase HDL? Thank you I love your videos!
