Stator code flashes on speedometer! Has anyone come across this?

Just a shot in the dark here because I don't have experience with that fancy of a machine but maybe bad ground or loose or corroded connection?

I was thinking it sounds like a faulty grounding issue. Just a thought though.

Test that Stator!

Voltage spikes maybe?

I'm gonna test voltage. But thinking it could be a ground issue or wiring. The wiring was kinda corroded.

@@TheTechGuider They call it a warning indicator on the speedo. E is Errror. Indicating you in between gears. Stator: senses ground speed but no RPMs for 10 seconds. And also Hndbr: When the module override button is stuck. This is all new to me. Just learned it.

What year machine is it? Does the battery voltage remain stable when idling and revving to higher rpms? Doubt it’s a transmission or other switch as they simply open and close (no logic). The issue is likely in the instrument itself, charging circuit or a ground issue.

Its a 2003 400. I just replaced the stator. I have the same issue. So I'm now wondering if its a bad ground... or voltage regulator.

@@TitaniummanGarage couldn’t find the wiring diagram for that model in my files, but this should be straightforward. If you check the connector to the gauge instrument and it doesn’t have a yellow or yellow/red wire from the stator then it’s likely only able to detect the 12v voltage circuit. Which would make either the battery or voltage regulator the issue. Always start with the grounds to check for corrosion or loose connections. If there’s a yellow or yellow/red wire to the gauge, you could cut the wire to test if the light stays off. YMMV.

@@smallgaragehustle Thanks. You were reading my mind. I believe the yellow wire is the tach. At least on 700s. I'm going to try a new voltage regulator. When I got this one the starter relay was shot. The battery was dead, the 4x4 didn't work because of a bad ground. So far I've cleaned all the grounds I could find. If the voltage regulator or rectifier doesn't do the trick I'll go after the wire to the speedo. Thanks again.

@@smallgaragehustle I miss read your post. I thought you were talking about wires up at the speedo. I have the yellow and yellow and red and a yellow and black. A red wire and 2 ground wires going into one on the rectifier.

@@smallgaragehustle This 400 is like a cross breed. Must be a late 2002 build. Has the 02 style stator, cdi and rectifier. And what looks like a 2002 speedo. But the vin reads 2003. The 03s came with the cdi with a solid plug that went into it instead of individual wires.
