The video shows the race from Antwerp to Lisbon onboard the Norwegian three-masted barque “Statsraad Lehmkuhl”, winning Class A of The Tall Ships Races 2016. Through periods of no wind, with up to gale force over Bay of Biscay, “Statsraad Lehmkuh” won this first leg in Class A and came 2nd overall. A maximum speed over ground of 15.4 knots was recorded. A voyage full of events, from the light shows of sun sets and moon rises, to the giants of the seas, the fin whales, including dolphin shows both day and night.

Thank you so very much for sharing this wonderful video. This is an absolutely beautiful ship. I've spent a lot of time at sea in the past and miss the sights as well as the sensations. The clear night skies most of all.

The crew certainly got their "sea-legs" - or lack of them - tested during this voyage! :-)

It seems a wonderful experience. My only regret is that those on board are wearing all sorts of colourful clothes when navy blue only would bring a welcome feel of style worthy of such a magnificent vessel.

They're not allowed to give the impression of it being a Navy Ship, or that they are encouraging the volunteers to join the Navy because they are charitable trust/non profit organizations. The US Military got into legal trouble because they had recruitment staff involved in online gaming groups with links to the Recruitment Pages, encouraging people who were still at college/high school to join up.

@@kevnwarriner8819 Unfortunate. Besides I really don't see why joining the navy should be discouraged even at a young age. Young boys and girls could keep on studying on board and learn a trade in the process.

Every country on this planet should return to sailing ships and legally require all ships now that have a design that would allow us to install masts, and ships built in the future to be sail propulsion solely and only use other forms of power in the strict occasion of doldrums or extremely severe weather. Only exceptions being military ships and ocean liners, all other ships can return to masts and sails.
