Have you heard his latest, but not his last, album: Re-Set? The video of each song on the album is posted on RU-vid. Take time to listen, really listen, and watch each video. It's an amazing album, may even be his best so far.
I don't understand how folks can devalue the current performance of a past artist. Would you believe, I wasn't even aware of his talent from the 70's and 80's. True, his past hits are what drew my attention, at first. But I've begun listening to his latest album, Re-Set, and I think he's far better a performer now than he has been in the past. His age has NOTHING to do with the quality of his performance. Expectation is often a harsh and unfair judge of quality. We'd do better if we listened with our hearts first.
For a man in his 70s Shaky sounds great. Well done him for having the stamina to keep going. Love the songs Shaky. You still have it. God bless you. Much love always Susan xxx❤❤❤❤🥰🙏🙏🙏👍👏👏👏👏👏
We are all getting older and so is Shaky. All respect to him if he still wants to perform. Everyone can ponder before criticizing how much Shaky has offered all of us good music lovers over the decades. Let him be as he is.
As an art student…I remember Shaking Stevens and the Sunsets were hired to perform by the far-sighted Students Union encouraged by our particular coterie of art/design students. And perform they did brilliantly at the top floor of the Art and Design School, Brighton Polytechnic (now University of Brighton) in 1971…There was stirring of a rock ‘n roll revival at that time…The Wild Angels were also hired to similar acclaim at the time and served as release from mainstream fading and sold out ‘popular’ culture stemming from hippie-side folk music performing at the Pavilion e.g. ‘The Incredible String Band’…additionally BBC Radio 4 ran an intense, long running series reviving historic ‘straight’ rock ‘n roll…American and British…mainly…our own art/design band…‘The Fabulous Shitts’…a proto-punk band conscious of the terminal shift into the thatcher era that the movie ‘Withnail and I’ describes epically…searching for a meaningful music/performance relevant to the times we were living…fuck getting older…I stayed twenty-five years old until I turned seventy four and a bit recently…I live in Sydney Oz now…whatever the flame still burns bright between the covers in dear old Brighton…check out The Big Push…
Good for you, @pendemusic, for explaining that age does NOT change the soul. It's very much alive and vibrant as ever. It's just a bit more mellow. The quality is still very much present. You can tell, if you REALLY listen.
Was at Wembley, brilliant nite, great to relive it with this 👌🏻 … was my first time (yeh yeh I know 🤦♂️)… wish I’d done it sooner when RP was still alive. Tried to get the Frantic Four tix both tours but couldn’t. They can sure still rock ! 🤘🏻
I was there and shaky come across very badly. Certainly no shaking( bit of trembling) , unrecognisable voice, zero audience banter/connection. He forgot his words, cut across the musicians solos and generally looked like a bad old karaoke singer. Band were actually decent. Quo thankfully did a great job. Missed Rick of course but new guy was great. Francis didn’t give the band a name check which I thought was poor.
Not so. The artistic abilities change, yes, but if you take the time to really listen to the nuances of both vocals and music, you can appreciate those changes and even feel their subtle impact as being even more powerful a delivery.
Without Rick quo are dead and that new guy just give up trying to be like Rick you will never be like the great Rick parfitt you couldn’t lace ricks shoes
Totally agree mate, Rick was a God, these guys are imposters and as for Rhino, he turned up to Rick's funeral looking like fucking Worzel Gummidge, no respect for a legend 🎸
I missed Rick so much but you know he claimed before his death that he would never play with Quo again as stuff between him and Francis got so bad. So be grateful the songs are still out there. I was at this gig and the guy replacing Rick did a fine job. It’s not his fault he’s not Rick.
Oh hell, give it up Rossi, ruined and tainted quo, hard enough back in the day to avoid criticism about being a quo fan, they were awesome then too, but now even die hard quo fans are embarrassed..
Because he's getting older. He's not 30 years old anymore. The voice changes. His style of singing has changed as well, but that doesn't detract from his performance. You can't expect him to jump around on stage and scream into the mic like he used to. That is not a realistic expectation. I for one, think his voice is far better than it used to be.
turn brightness down on phone screen and turn on low power mode, turn off bluetooth/wifi and even full airplane mode will get your phone last long, is that an iphone ?
