Stay With Me (An Asriel Fansong) 

I love how the undertale fandom refused to die

This made me cry a little. I never really saw Chara as evil and I think that Chara genuinely loved Asriel as a friend and sibling. Asriel really just wanted to see Chara again but Frisk helped Asriel see that Chara has been gone for ages and won’t come back (in canon at least.), wonderful work with this.

The progression of this song is amazing! The way the intensity builds and builds before finally peaking with Asriel pleading "STAY WITH ME" over and over again, ESPECIALLY with the God of Hyperdeath's final verse...it reminds me of the very special version of His Theme that plays when you SAVE Asriel. That's the song that got me into Undertale in the first place.

It turns out that my cat loves when I sing to her - but specifically your songs. She makes it abundantly clear when she doesn’t like a song, by putting as much distance as she can between us, so I have reason to believe that this isn’t a coincidence. I was sitting on my bed recording myself singing a Good Omens song (I have so much brainrot) and figured since I was all warmed up I might as well practice Stay With Me, because it’s hard to memorize in particular. My cat, Miku, had been sitting on my bed minding her own business this entire time, but the second I started singing this song, she got up and started rubbing against me, circling around me, and occasionally jumping on my shoulder. I got up to better project for the chorus, and she followed me, rubbing against my feet and occasionally trying to jump up. She settled down after I was done, and I tested later by singing a bit of one of your other songs. The affection started again. So.. your music has my cat’s stamp of approval! She’s a very particular kitty, so I think it’s no small achievement. But take this as you will.

I love how Asriel sounds like hes in distress, Like hes fighting something to stay with him, This is a great song!

I really like the line “so my hatred proceeds farther than memories,” since it feels like a reference to the fact that Asriel’s last days of having emotion were likely spent in sadness and grief over Chara, only for his last moments to be spent being ruthlessly attacked despite doing nothing wrong, and his inaction resulting in his death, leading to his “kill or be killed” view on the world. I can’t help but wonder if this lack of any positive emotions in his last days as his old self had anything to do with why Flowey became the way he is, especially since Flowey seems to change for the better after getting new positive memories in the pacifist route.

I can't help the emotional damage to certain specific lyrics, which is “I can't let go of the past” and of course the counterpart “Can't let go of the present” That's such a clever lyrics oh my God! Because one day I saw someone mentioned in on the internet, that _this_ moment, the one that's been happening-is a ‘present’, a gift. Either bad or good, a gift from life, which is why it's called ‘present time’. It's a gift that it happened, and it's a gift that we lived in that moment, happy or sad, grief or joy. The memory Asriel shared with Chara is a “gift” for him. He treasure that moment, so much that he can't let it go. Can't let it past where the world move on without him. Where he kept ‘unchanging’, all cause he refused to move on. And then, it strike him, that he just have to make the present time _stays_ present. Which is his final battle in pacifist route. Basically trapping the player in the same loop, trapping us to “stay”. For Chara to stay. Which looped back into the lyrics of him can't letting go of the past and present. Which is, surprisingly, what happened to a lot of people in the underground. I like to think of Underground as this giant metaphor of being “stuck” in their own problems. Toriel with grief, Papyrus and Mettaton with recognition from other, Undyne, Alphys, and Asgore with guilt. When they're freed from the Underground, they had find the closure for their problem. Asriel wanted to be understood, and happened to many teens in real life, the longing feeling of wanting to be understood. It's also a neat details that neither Asriel nor us (whose identity is Chara in this game) can proceed onward to the surface, we'll just wound up back in our last safe point. Cause technically, we're dead. We “stay” in the past (underground) while everyone moves on(the surface). Sorry I ramble too much-I just love this music and this game so much I couldn't help myself😅

I don’t connect as much to Asriel as other people do, so I haven’t listened to this song until now. Biggest mistake ever, this song is SO GOOD. First of all, the melody is so pretty, and has a royalty vibe to it. It’s catchy in that way that you actually want to learn it and sing along. The build-up is absolutely _incredible,_ and it all comes to a head once Asriel is in his final form. You managed to convey so much heartbreak and anguish and desperation and regret and love in those verses and I am in awe. I like to acknowledge the art too, because I notice it tends to slip under the radar when it’s not the main focus. That being said, it adds so much to the song! The first one with Asriel and Chara looks so peaceful and happy, while the final form looks so anguished and powerful, yet somehow almost weak at the same time. It matches the tone perfectly and makes such a difference. I know I’ve already made a long comment like twenty minutes ago on the other video, but talent doesn’t wait. You’re getting two text walls today and there’s nothing you can do about it >:)

Amazing. I love each and every one of your songs, but this one really stood out. It gave me chills.

I'm very impressed. This and Gaster are my two favorites. This one really captures the more emotional aspects of Asriel's storyline, while also not being totally incomprehensive and crazy. It's intense, but... chaotically peaceful? I don't know if that exactly makes sense, but hopefully you know what I mean. Very good though. Undoubtedly your most beautiful and emotional song yet. You captured the heartbreak I felt way back when I first played the game into a wonderfully composed tearjerking song in a way no one else I've found has

Just wanted to add my interpretation on some lines hoping you'll see this ik I already commented once. "My hatred proceeds farther than memories." Chara realizing they don't even remember the reason behind why they felt Hatred towards humanity anymore. It's to far back. "The Love I once had died when I came back." The level of violence which chara use to be capable of carrying out isn't something they're able to do anymore after awakening from death. "But you are back to! My best friend is renewed." Chara feeling overjoyed that Asriel has also returned. Perhaps even experiencing a sense of hope that maybe they'll be able to fix their mistake and Renew their relationship. "Reincarnation, yet you seem hesitant..." Chara acknowledging that in a sense Flowey is just Asriel's reincarnation like Frisk is there own. But also noticing how hesitant flowey is on actually revealing his identity even though Chara already knows it's him. This could also be seen as invoking a feeling of sadness within them due to the hesitation Flowey is showing. "And I Say." This one might refer back to asriel's own lines "Stay with me." Because just like Asriel all Chara really wants is for their best friend to stay with them. However it could also refer to the lines. "Come with me." Frisk/Chara's desire for Flowey/Asriel to come to the surface with them and to leave the past behind once and for all. I'm aware this is probably not the case but for me it feels right.

I definitely appreciate this song, so many people try to pass Chara off as being the better of the two between them and Frisk, but Chara was truly a horrid child, even when absolutely showered with love from a family that had every reason to fear them, they couldn't let go of their hate, their desire for vengeance. It brings into question if they even loved their family being so willing to shatter it completely. Everything is Chara's fault, everything is just a means to an end for them.

This is just my own view but I see the Red as Chara singing. Idk for some reason my brain just likes that idea. Btw, I like how chara isn't necessarily shown to be a bad sibling they just weren't the greatest. Still, the tale of these two are sad. Both in one way or another refusing to die. Just like us the Fandom 7 years later and we still refuse to die. It's poetic really.

It seems like the verses after the first "Stay with me" chorus up until the red ends might be Chara singing back to Asriel. Am I wrong? It just really struck me that way. Honestly words can't express how much I love this song and the sibling relationship between Chara and Asriel, it's so messed-up, and sad, and horrific, and heartbreaking. Chara let their hatred take over and convinced Asriel to go along with it, and by the time they were reincarnated, and if a pacifist run is done and they see what happened to their best friend because of them, it's all over. See, that's why I love the line, "Chara wasn't really the greaest person." Because it's not so much about Chara as it is about Asriel. For his whole life as a flower, he blamed himself for not fighting back against the humans, put Chara on a pedestal in his brain. But now he's learned no, he was right and Chara was wrong. But he still cares about Chara, very much, even they weren't the greatest person. It's just all very sad but in all my fanfics I give them a happy ending and time to recover and for Chara to apologize T-T Beautiful work as always, Evifresh, your songs just keep getting better and better, it's pure genius I swear.

The song overall is very very good. The sadder parts feel nearly not like a fansong at all,and the angry parts a little more,but still pretty overlookable. Overall,another amazing song. You are getting better at making them and singing with every one. Even if you are kind of jumping left and right with how much of a fansong they feel. Not even sure you care about it.

This is awesome... I don't know how I managed to miss it and not watch it the day it was posted... I really like the melody and art of this one. Asriel's backstory is really tragic, and his death is the thing that started Undertale's story, so I was waiting for an Asriel song from you.. and of course, you didn't disappoint. It really shows how he projects Chara onto Frisk, he's just so sure that his best friend is finally back... I personally see a lot of the things that Flowey says about Frisk/Chara/the player in the game as him idolizing Chara to the point of becoming obsessed with them... but not with who they really are as a person, but with the idea of them. The best friend in the whole universe, who will support him no matter what he does- no matter all the pain he's caused, they will always be the one who understands all of it and will like all of it, because in his eyes, they're just like him. He's so obsessed with his idea of Chara as a friend, that when another human falls, he instantly starts to see them as Chara coming back from the dead, revived just like he was. And this song really shows that, especially the later parts with the God of Hyperdeath. This part contains my favourite line of the whole song- "If that's what 'friendship' really takes, then I will make sure that you never save". The way you sang it gave me chills... and it portrays the fact that he's keeping Frisk trapped in this world under the belief that they're his long dead best friend, and you can see his warped view of what his friendship with Chara truly was... just. IT'S AMAZING I don't want this to get too long, but... yeah, I love this a lot.

I don't remember if I commented already, but this song is beautiful, one of my favorite songs ever, and it's close to making me cry. I really like the line "instead of holding you tightly I now crush you at the sight" just hit me really hard, it really shows how much trauma Asriel has been through and how it affected him, and also really sad that he is now trying to kill the person that he loves, all in a desperate attempt to try and bring Chara back, to stay with him.

Dude this song can prob be played with basil instead of asriel and it would still make 100% sense lol

Oooh, I like the line "your determination flows through my very veins." because it kinda works for a mini-headcanon of mine, kind of building off the theory that it's Chara's soul in the machine powering the true lab. I like to think Alphys used Chara's soul for the DT extractions, and therefore, Flowey would've been given Chara's determination.
