That view! I dont think I have ever seen a hotel room with a ceiling fan. You are right, the room is outdated. Maybe that's what Fairmont clientele like. $450 pays for that incredible view and the balcony. Fantastic video.

Would you recommend this over fairmont banff springs?

Well it depends on what you are looking for in which season. In WINTER: Chateau Lake Louise is closest to the amazing ski resort, and has A LOT to do at the hotel (ice bar, ice skating, ice sculptures, horse & slay rides, dog sledding, and this is all from the hotel! Banff Springs is great if you want a less "cold" experience - you can visit the hot springs and take a dip, or shop and eat in downtown Banff. In SUMMER: Both are equally beautiful and offer AMAZING views and have hundreds of hiking trails near by, but Chateau Lake Louise gives prime axis obviously to the world famous Lake Louise, and is a short drive from other famous lakes including Peyto and Moraine Lake. The HOTEL itself: Overall, Banff Springs has a slightly nicer hotel. Meaning the rooms are slightly nicer, and the hotel offers slightly more amenities (more restaurants, bowling, 2 pools, golf, etc....but Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is in an awe-inspiring location. So if you are looking just to stay at the hotel in the summer, I would recommend Banff Springs. If you were looking to explore the surrounding area in the summer, I would recommend the chateau. And in the winter, I would recommend Chateau as well. Let me know what you choose!
