It makes far more sense if it was just a battle injury. NEVER before was it established that "Terrans have a light sensitivity." Never in the DS( episodes, In a mirror darkly, or TOS, was it said that the Terrans had a light sensitivity. There weren't even hints at that. The mirror universe isn't supposed to be "A completely different place where everything is different." It's supposed to be, a mirror universe. Where good is bad, and bad is good. The ISS Enterprise, The Avenger, etc... were lit no differently than their prime universe counterparts. Such a dumb idea. Lorca was such a better character before the idea that he was mirror universe became a fact.

@@constantincatterfeld2038 It's kinda hard when Lorca was born in the same universe as "Terra Firma!" and had been that way for a thousand years or so, if I were to guess. It's kind of like that Enterprise arc in season 4, where those augment characters were incapable of not being maniacal buttheads with a need to rule the world or turn it to ash. That sort of thing. Plus, he had a long standing grudge against madam emperor, and well...that emperor turned out to be less nuts than him, which is interesting.

Don't look now, but apparently one or two of the novels have established that the prime universe Lorca is still alive and captive in the mirror universe. It doesn't look like he may show up in the TV series again though, since he would have to not only travel back to prime but also through time to rejoin the cast. Not to mention the actor thing. Heck, Isaacs didn't even show up as a guest character in the terra firma episodes. Nevertheless, the novels may expand on the Prime Lorca's story still. Or he might even show up in the upcoming Captain Pike series.

Federation ships are seriously powerhouses, a Crossfield class Science Ship like Discovery took on a Klingon flagship and Lorca still had to advise them to put the Photon torpedoes to a lower setting, even without all the spore drive shenanigans that's a lot of firepower packed into a single unit, much like we've seen the Enterprise D take on a Borg cube qnd so on and so forth.

@kdrapertrucker
@kdrapertrucker 2 года назад
They ripped it off from a video game. The writers didn't even bother to do basic research into star trek, the symbol for star fleet was not the delta until the movie era, before that it was the uniform insignia for the U.S.S. Enterprise. Each ship had a different emblem on the chest of the uniform. Klingons do not have elaborate buriel rituals for their dead, considering them to be useless empty husks to be disposed of. They certainly would not have a sarcophagus ship, Klingon did not aquire cloaking devices until the end of Kirk's original 5 year mission, and only aquired them through a technical exchange with the Romulans star empire, with the Romulans receiving the D-7 battle cruiser design in exchange. This period of cooperation ended after the destruction of the Klingon moon Praxis, and the Romulans involvement in the assassination of Chancellor Gorkon and the unsuccessful sabotage of the Khitomer conference.

As much as i don't see how STD is supposed to work as a canonical prequel, i have to admit that the series itself (against my severe doubts) is developing pretty amazingly so far. FINALLY we have a ST series that's expanding on klingon culture and diversity - no more "we're all simply angry, brown, wrinkly headed space vikings that basically wear all the same clothing, drink all the same beverages, eat all the same stuff, fly all the same ships, have all the same sense of aesthetics, follow all a variation of the same profession". Now we have warrior houses, clerical houses, mercantile houses, scientific houses, espionage houses; the ships vary according to house, as do clothing, jewelry and even body features. Just AWESOME!!! The crew dynamics in Star Trek have never been developing more challengingly, complex and interestingly in the course of such a limited number of episodes as they did in Discovery. Basically they're a reflection of the UFP: - Captain Georgiou represented a TNG-UFP - poised, curious, peaceful, but also aloof and anthropocentric to the point where it prevents true understanding of another culture’s perspective. - Captain Lorca represents a wounded and traumatized later DS9-UFP that lost its innocence and tries to win a war by all means necessary, which puts it at odds with everything it used to stand for. - Lieutenant Stamets and commander Saru represent the explorative, scientific UFP that feels abused and corrupted by a war that’s keeping it from its true purpose. - Cadet Tilly represents the upbeat, excited, hopeful TOS-UFP. She’s is the youngest and what the UFP wants to become again… and ultimately will, since she will probably be a captain when STD reaches the TOS time frame. - Burnham as a scientist that served under Georgiou and Lorca and being seriously influenced on her journey to find balance/redemption by Tilly, embodies every aspect of the UFP. I’m absolutely thrilled by “reboot-STD” (i see it as such, no matter what the producers say) and will continue to explore their adventures. IDIC, my fellow trekkies!

The attention deficit hyperactivity disorder drive works properly on this ship, the klingons were baffled to death by starfleet pop-ups. They need strong blockers in the war to come. Oh wait, its J-J-verse - we don´t know what is coming anyway. Screw the last 50 years, black alert, spool it up ! Go and watch The Orville my friends, it is getting stronger with every episode.

Is this what they did to the d7??? Why did they do this? And are these klingons ? Are their ships made of stone now? Disgraceful at best .
@demariushenderson1802

Granted, Starfleet buried all the designs and research for the spore drive after Discovery went into the future, it's crazy to think that no other scientist or alien race (especially the Borg) had been able to discover the mycelial network at any point between the hundreds of years that took place before Discovery popped back up. Even races that could observe events of the past. No time traveller (during the Temporal War) just randomed upon what happened with the Discovery? I mean the ship did help win the war against the Klingons, so somebody should've been curious about the technology.

Each episode gets more absurd than the last. Where are the Klingon shields half the time? Where are the Klingon intruder alerts? Why does the Klingon ship just sit there, especially after being cloaked? Why AGAIN do Klingons on the bridge not have an energy weapon to dispatch intruders? Why is the Klingon bridge on a purported tactical battle starship the size of an auditorium? Why do all ships just for this decade (or less) have glass windows on the bridges? Who in their right mind thinks a Klingon who regularly works out with a bat'leth can't dispatch a human female half his size? What kind of advanced tactical battlecruiser has sensors that wouldn't pick up transmitting alien probes and a communicator on the bridge? The limiting factor of the spore drive was the need for alien creatures to torture, so how will using humans now not create the need for an absolutely absurd reason it isn't used in the future? What's the tactical reason for sixty needless jumps at the end? The Klingons are sitting in one position not even firing at anything. Where are the 100 additional absurdities I could list here? That one I can answer, too disgusted to waste any more time here. This is bad writing meant only for cookie-cutter sci fi watchers with the intellect and attention span of a Transformers fan.
@Puff_Chady

They can't have shields and cloak on at sametime. Never heard a intruder alert on a klingon ship before. Maybe they have none. Maybe seeing a ship vanish before their eyes caught them off-guard. The jumps was for to buy them time to collect data on their cloak frequency, so they can share it to the fleet. The rest of your questions is dumb so I'll end it here. Hope this helps.

@johntsouris2159 6 лет назад
Harvey Dent Ha ha! You didn't answer any of my questions because they have no reasonable answer. But it was humorous how you tried for a couple before declaring defeat. (Maybe, maybe... Yeah, maybe is right! Maybe the writers are all retarded!) By the way, it's "questions are" not "questions is" genius. With those writing skills you should apply to be a writer on STD.

Where are anyone's shields half the time? It's like shields don't exist. No Klingon intruder alerts because they masked their lifesigns as Klingon so internal scanners simply picked up Klingon lifesigns. I don't know....plot? Or is Kol just a crappy commander. Though remember they were going to warp away but apparently Discovery Klingons have the attention span of cats and once Micheal challenged him that thought was forgotten.

John Tsouris It looks as if I hurt your feelings. By the way. A singular subject (your list of questions) takes a singular verb (is), whereas a plural subject takes a plural verb. Hope this helps.

Hey genius, if you had said "The rest of your response" or "The rest of your list".... that is singular. A response. A list. YOU said "The rest of your questions." .... questions is PLURAL dipshit. See that 's' on the end? Always has been, always will be. Perhaps you meant to say "The rest of your LIST of questions is dumb." But you didn't, and this is triple hilarious. It's supremely amazing when someone that doesn't know English doubles down on a grammatical error after correction. LOL Go write for STD. That show (singular) are (plural) terrible and could use your mad skill (singular again). (Using your English skills now. It are fun!)

@danielharvison7510
@danielharvison7510 2 года назад
Well, it was buried as it was never public knowledge in the first place, and all records were destroyed after Discovery went to the future, if you'll recall. Thus it was forgotten as the potential was never realised, and the connection to Control too much of a risk. That and they never figured out how to use it without a human host or whatever Stamets is. Spore Drive is really cool and all, but buggy as hell and not ready for roll out even in season 3. It's a hack-like cheat that only Disco managed to make sort-of work.

jturner7771 They wanted to break the whole cloaking technology, since it was installed on many Klingon ships. Break it means a huge tactical advantage of Klingon is now the Federation's.If that algorithm is transmitted to all Federation vessels, they will no longer fear the cloaking technology. But if you only plant some photon torpedoes, you can only destroy one ship.

So I wonder, since they made Discovery this advance looking, how would the crew react with a constitution class starship which is suppose to be superior to their cross field class.
@factcore2765
@factcore2765 6 лет назад
champbaka The Constitution, if even shown in this show, would most likely be updated with modern CGI and other techniques. The ships in this show only look more advanced because of the larger budget and the fact that it’s airing 50 years after the original. You can’t expect this show’s creators to use old prop models and button controls just for the sake of looking older.
@champbaka
@champbaka 6 лет назад
Fact Core I am not a Trekkie, but I have noticed the attention to detail the series gives to continuity. Take TNG Relics where Scotty requested a holoprogram of the original constitution Enterprise bridge or ENT Mirror Darkly where the Terran empire got their hands on the USS Defiant (NCC-1764). Those series aired in the 90s and early 2000 and didn’t seem to mind the outdated 60s look of the constitution class. I don’t mind the updated effects and CG, but if this series actually claims to be part of the prime universe then this advance looking starship doesn’t make sense when you look the NX class and constitution class of the prime universe.
