The fact that Kate wanted the trophy so so bad the entire time and when it was a tie she instantly said "Ryan you can have it," she is too good for this world

Kate's looks of pure joy during this ep were everything, my depression is cured, my crops are watered, my trophy is full of jellybeans

Kate's little "this is the most fun I've had in a long time" was so sweet. She seems like a blast to have around!

I love how enthusiastic Kate was for all this, the energy she brought to the game was so much fun, I also love how creative Shane’s getting to be, very reminiscent of the Hot Daga series

As to Jeanne’s "happy ending": She actually escaped to London, where she died in 1791 at 35 after falling out a window while fleeing some debt collectors.

Can you imagine being some pretty young French thing, having a good time with your soldier boyfriend, and then all of a sudden he and his wife (his WIFE) tell you to put on a super-nice dress, an expensive-ass wig, a shitton of makeup, and send you to Versailles in the middle of the night to meet some rando who keeps calling you "Your Majesty" and give him a letter while they hide in the bushes and watch, and then when you ask, "Uh... so what was that about?" your boyfriend's like "Don't worry about it..."

Shane’s musical ability is actually shockingly good. Like, i’m majoring in music and the composition of that song is INSANE. Not to mention the rhythm of the lyrics fits so well, and the melody is really good, just ignore me gEEKING OUT OVER HERE,,

I’m sorry are just going to ignore the fact that shane’s a musical genius

I experienced every emotion that Kate felt during this, like true amazement and fun and suspense. This is my favorite show on this channel officially

But no joke can we talk about Shane’s singing voice?? Like he really has potential with his voice and I’m happy he’s using it for something so creative and funny like this. I knew he had a really good singing voice from the hot daga and I’m genuinely so impressed by his creativity with the songs and skits with the puppets

I am still rolling from the professor losing his cool and snapping "That's enough!!!" at 3:52 . Who knew a puppet could stare someone down with so much contempt!? One of my favorite bits thus far :D

rewatching this after the season 4 finale, and honestly i think this is where it all went wrong. if ryan had never gotten to touch the coveted cup, if he had never experienced the taste of victory, he would have resigned to infinite loss, but now that he knows what it means to hold (share) the title of history master, he will stop at nothing, and it will cost everything. and even if he won outright, and didn't have to share, he would never have been so bitter, and it would never have gone too far. this is like seeing a car accident and being unable to look away.

The professor has such an empty gaze within his eyes it's comedic gold

Jeanne's happy ending didn't actually last long! She escaped, fled to London and enjoyed only a few years of freedom before falling to her death after jumping out of a window to escape debt collectors! As for how stylish the necklace was.... It was commissioned by Louis XV for his mistress Du Barry (emphasis on mistress). Du Barry had a famously common background (cough she used to be a prostitute cough) and was notorious for her rather garish preferences (quite the contrast to the ever tasteful former mistress De Pompadour), so the rather ridiculous necklace was very well suited to her tastes and budget, not so much anyone else on earth. Marie Antoinette likely refused the necklace because 1. She was a QUEEN, not a mistress 2. She loathed Du Barry, as Du Barry was opposed to the French-Austrian alliance and 3. She found it too expensive, as contrary to commonly held belief, Marie was somewhat aware of the financial struggles France faced. Plus, Marie had at this stage of her life developed a preference for a more natural ("English"), simple style of dress...
