This video is a little different from the usual content, but I wanted to share what it was like camping in an urban city center for the first time. KNOWER MUSIC: / louisgenevieve / maxoutfun / maxoutfun themaxoutfun@gmail.com
I feel safer in the woods with bears, then in the city with rummies. There are good things to see and do in the city, but ......I guess, one needs to be careful in both places.
With the state of our city, you could have peed absolutely anywhere and no one would have questioned it. Before chaos took over, you COULD use bathrooms most places. Then they became living quarters, drug dens, or just literally destroyed. Glad you had a safe night.
Next time you are in Portland, get the book by Portlander Laura Foster called Stair Walks. Before 1950s, before highways, workers lived by Council crest and other higher grounds neighborhood and had to walk all the way downtown to the canneries to work. There are so many stairs, public path through private properties. it is a must to do. Also from downtown Porltand it is really easy to enter and hike the Portland Forest park. A really cool hike starts by the Japanese /Rose garden goes by Pittock mansion and comes out by the Pearl district. Really cool hikes. you might meet Nike runners by the Pearl district and maybe be a homeless person but very quiet and the trees are huge. By the way the Pearl district was full of abandoned buildings early 1990s. It is really fancy now.
I love your hair. I cut mine really short after my 2nd child and really didn't appreciate people judging me for working in a male oriented career and having short hair as a woman. Men used to wear their hair really long... you should see the photos of my great grandfathers. Thank you for taking us along on your urban adventure. I really loved the walk in the park. Safe travels.
Hi, Max, Glad you had fun at the concert. That mansion you showed very briefly at Forest Park is one I toured with many years ago - it was pretty cool. Glad you got to see some of Portland. For a big city, it's a pretty nice one. But I also get that you aren't a fan of big cities. I agree.
I’d love to see a detailed electronics breakdown of your van/how it was achieved. Is something like that in the cards for the future? The walkthrough video left me craving more. Also, knower is dope
So cool to hear you went to see knower. I saw them live for the first time at Porter Robinsons second sky and thought they had such a fun performance. Sorry to hear about your transmission problems. You've been a big inspiration for me to start my van Life journey. Keep on keeps ng on dude! :)
thanks for the vid - love Forest Park there. I used to spend more time down there for work, less now... My wife's uncle did a bunch of work on the nice Japanese Garden there. Funny comment about the hair - used to have mine super long in front but have just been taking the clippers to it recently...
1. Awsome van build. One of the best down-to-earth self built on the net. 2. I love how you went into the city, but instead using the opportunity to see the city you went into a park ...... a true solo camper 👏👏👍👍.
Parking in downtown Portland in 2021 is insane! I'm with ya on that city life is too stimulating. Glad you didn't run into any trouble :) Witches Castle in forest park is pretty cool too!
Thanks for the videos! Can you do one on your surround camera system? Like what is the make/model, what tips you might have for installing, etc…? Thanks in advance!
That comment about your long hair.. pretty much the way I felt about it.. but after you addressed it the way you did I think it's hilarious doesn't bother me so much.. I once slept in my van in New Orleans just outside of Cafe du Monde.. somewhere in the middle of the night a drunk backed up and hit my van's bumper about three times before he was able to finally get out.. my response I just crawled to the front of the van laid on the horn he was a bit confused and couldn't get away quick enough fortunately for me there was no real damage a few little scratches but it would it would be a night I won't forget
I was so worried about your windows hahaha! I have a few friends that live full time in vans downtown portland. Incredible van build btw. Looking forward to viewing your channel! Where did you get those cameras btw. Really dig that!
Portland has a huge forest right in the city, a 20 minute walk from downtown. my edit : not even a 10 min walk from the Powell bookstore to get in a real forest. AHHH you found it. hihi
7:39 This is so messed up. In 2021, and we still didn't figure basic needs out. I heard that in Japan they have loads of not only toilets, but showers all around. Sounds like Japan is more evolved than other "greatest/richest" countries...
Check it out carbohydrates causing clogged arteries, not greasy fat. IMHO Avoid seed oils and canola. Fat got a bad rap. Full fat food is healthier than low fat. 👍
2:25 It's funny that people "need to know" wether one is a make or a female. As far as I'm concerned, I just see human beings, who cares if one is male or female? 🤷 I don't know...
Id feel safer being anywhere but downtown portland! My husband wz killed by police so i dont go into downtown or places even near there. Unless i absolutely no way around it have to. Avoid police and avoid well avoid just avoid. Its getting unsafe everywhere. I woulda offered u a safer place to park n home cookin. Lol
Different is good, different video, different camping/parking spot, different hair cut-great video as usual! The full pee jugs.....if you know, you know. lol
