For Van Life, airport parking is crazy cool- and if the said airport doesn't prevent access to the food court (without a airplane ticket) - you have eating out available as well as hanging out working on the laptop etc. and almost always free wifi.
Airport parking lot….genius idea!!! Especially if you need something to do. Go hang out in the airport till you have to go bed. Walk around in a climate controlled place (saving energy or fuel in van), have a nice meal, use their restrooms, have a drink, or simply people watch! It breaks up the time.
@@jamesvanderbilt201 Who is talking about security? All the amenities are available before you go through security too. And if not in the "departure area", then you change the floor to "arrival area" and there is everything you need.
I’m having a really bad day, I’ve just felt angry, anxious and frustrated but glad you posted cause it’s relaxing to watch. Keep up with the great videos man
As a Swede I will tell you how to make Hasselbackspotatis. Use small to medium sized potatoes, after you've cut through them you should put butter all over, then top them off with breadcrumbs. Salt, pepper and paprikapowder is a good choice of spice aswell. In the oven at 225 degrees Celsius for 50-60min. The butter will melt into the plate you're using, and every now and then you should use a spoon and sear the potatoes with the butter. I love this dish with a nice steak to it and some asparagus.
I've been binge watching Ryan's videos for the last week now subscribed liked every video lol. I genuinely love your videos man theirs a nice cozy feeling when watching you. I love your van build and can't wait to see what you do with the mini truck
I have been binge watching Van converts for days now, and your's looks just like a home. Very modern and cool with so many fancy touches. I assume the large pricetag goes with such a conversion. But it just looks so comfortable. And I'm going to cook those potatoes for dinner for the kids. Well done and very inspirational. 💯 Cool
Hi Ryan, I am from Indonesia. I wish my life is as free as yours and as cozy as your Van. Watched all your videos. And everytime You uploads a video. It soothes my soul. Keep it up brother.
Get some grass-fed cow produced butter in that pan: reduces the stick, betters the taste, and SUPPOSEDLY is healthy but that's hearsay from hearsay so grain-of-salt-clause
Seen a million channels like this. Somehow this is the most compelling. It shows some practical things I've not seen before. Also highlights the main need I will for sure not miss in my build: a good toilet and shower.
I think a tent trip is also a good option, you can do such a thing anywhere, usually it is better to have a medical check-up in the forest, but please bring a friend with you, this will avoid some unnecessary hassle and safety
I really don't know what it is about you man but I'm a huge fan! I think it boils down to your authenticity and out of the box lifestyle! Thank you for the content ❤
I have always waned to live that van life. The Fiancé and I may do it one day but in the meantime im living through you. You are my go to van life vlog! We love you, Ryan!! 😊
First video ever seeing of yours, I really enjoy your way of talking to the camera like we were having a conversation it felt really genuine and real to listen to you. I will definitely sub to see the rest of where can life takes you
so comforting inside the van, especially stealth camping in a cold night with heater on. The chili and potatoes tricked my brain to feel comfort and secure
For your potatoes, try salting them before you put them into the oven. Re-apply your olive oil mixture when removing them from the oven and applying the cheese. The cheese inbetween the potatoes is good but slice the cheese into thin strips when putting them on top of the potato.
Cheddar “Velveeta” 🤣🤣🤣 man I was laughing so hard. Hey Ryan get you some ranch seasoning in the shaker. That would be a great addition to those taters.
WIth my current situation where I work in another state and having to stay there 2 to 4 days a week, this makes me wish I had the type of van you have rather than sleeping in my Santa Fe. It would definitely make being away from home more tolerable. You just earned you a subscriber.
reason your potatoes didn't come out right is because you didn't lather in the oil deep enough into the crevasses, they are supposed to be essentially fried crispy almost like potato chips (though not so dehydrated or crunchy), not simply "baked". would also help to open them up a little bit so the moisture can escape, that will really crisp them up.
Butter is even better than oil, I add butter on top atleast 4 times during baking. To add to the crisp I also put panko breadcrums mixed with parmesan on top.
Hi Ryan. I've been binge watching your vlogs of all the beautiful places in USA, Canada and also Iceland. Wow you made me transport myself through your videos to all these places. Thanks for being you and please keep safe. It's a whole new world out there which I unfortunately can't visit due to financial but sitting at home watching your videos really gives me a view of all the beautiful place this EARTH has to offer. Love your cooking ideas. Awesome work kid. Blessings be with you and your family and loved ones. Hi to your pretty girlfriend. She is so supportive. You both make a beautiful couple.

The worry around pipes freezing isnt when they actually freeze, its when the water melts inside the pipe after freezing due to the expansion of water around ice that is still frozen inside. The more you know.
Best van food I've ever seen. I worked in a French restaurant where we made those potatoes. We did what you did in the beginning but added chicken stock to the pan. Big difference. You might also want to try fondant potatoes which are easier and tastier. First video I've seen of yours but excellent van, excellent cooking!
For the potatoes try a miso glaze: 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or other neutral oil 1/4 cup miso paste (I use awase miso which is a mix of both red and white miso paste) 2 tablespoons mirin 1 tablespoon granulated sugar 1 tablespoon sake sesame seeds Slather on during the last 5 +/- minutes of cooking
I love how you say “we” all the time - feel so included in your trips. And your cooking - so interesting to me. I keep saying I wish I could have a van life - love cooking in close quarters. Hasselback potato cutting hack is great.
hi Ryan, i've just discovered your content! I have a question about your van build. What material did you use for the side walls of the van? I'm after something similar myself, trying find the right material for the job. I will probably get inspired by this build quite a lot. thanks.
ABQ Airport is $3.98 / day for uncovered self park. There’s a gravel space right near the parking lot entrance where you can park there overnight no problem right by the airport parking … stay overnight on the concrete slab. I’ve been there probably 40 times. Cracker Barrel just up the road is super quiet surprisingly
If you've got a broiler in that oven, broil the taters for about 5 minutes after you put the cheese on next time. That'll brown and crisp it up. Or, no broiler, use a torch.
you should explore the great lakes more there absolutely beautiful Duluth 2 harbors, silver bay and the mackinaw city crossing Mackinac Island is a must visit also. you wont regret it some of the most beautiful places in NE of America go see these places in the summer when its best
Hello Ryan, I might be your oldest subscriber- I'm a new subscriber. All this to say your epic videos have kept me going. My gracious it's been an especially tough year and going along with you has been like a salve, soothing the aches and pains of life. Take care my new friend. (In my head lol)
I think you’d you’d want to finish the potatoes on a very high heat, basically a broil to create texture. And, yes, the oil spread should include salt. I would avoid overdoing things by adding cheese, it doesn’t play well with rosemary.
I drive 18 wheelers, was just in Edwardsville, KS where it was down to 15 degrees for several days. I have nothing heavier that a hoody and I walk into truck stops in those temperatures. Helps that I am of Scandinavian decent.
For the potatoes cook them with salt (chunky sea salt is the best) and then at the end if your oven can do it set it to broil until darker and crispy. I've been making this with my steaks ever since my mom made it for me when i was a teen
for best super pancake results slower more time during heat really sends it home. i have used baking powder to help the cake adhere to itself a bit better and yeah if you ever forget to turn it still comes out cake like just with steam holes in it. (hope that gives an idea of how much time) what barely over low/med and 30+ mins for normal skillet, iron prolly 5-10 more.
When I think of stealth camping, I envision a camper you can’t see versus these giant vans with solar panels on top, and occasionally a ladder on the side of them.
These vans seem pretty cool, but then you realize there's no shower and no toilet like a real RV. Imagine having explosive diarrhea lol, and driving around at 2am looking for a toilet, and then having to use a bunch of wet wipes because there's no handheld bidet or shower. I don't know man doesn't seem very sanitary. Rather just trip in a Sienna with the middle seats taken out, and save a ton of money.
Ryan, I know its not relaxing for you to create these videos, but for whatever reason, its relaxing to watch the videos. Probably doesn't really make a lot of scense.
I really like the way you did the lighting. More yellow for the night mode would be better. But the ceiling looks awesome! You have a video on how you did that?
Cut the potatos in half first, long ways, then do the slices with the flat side as the bottom. They make up some garlic butter and brush that ontop with some salt and pepper. Stick them in the oven for 20-30min, pull them out and brush them with some more garlic button, add some chives, and put them back in the oven for another 20-30min.... your welcome
