I love my steam canners. They are much lighter than a boiling water bath when filled. Also, if you put a penny in the bottom, it will jiggle. This way you can tell if it runs out of water because the jiggle will stop. Very informative video. Thanks so much! Blessings 💕💕

Thank you, I bought a bunch of canning jars from an older gentleman and he threw in a steam canner. All of the ones I’ve seen had a temperature gauge this one doesn’t so it’s been stored in my shed until I could learn more about it. I’m pulling it out this week to use in some of the Canuary videos.

I used my my steam canner for the first time today I made raspberry jam by using two quarts of raspberries to two and a half cups of sugar I placed the water at the level the steam canner has suggested I put the three jars in and had no recipe for processing time I process the jam as usual as if I had it in a water bath canner for 10 minutes I left it inside with the lid on turn the heat off when the 10 minutes was up and let the jar sit for 5 additional minutes then took it off everything sealed nicely but I'm nervous about process time

I like the steam canner because it doesn't take as much water but I also like the electric one because it doesn't take up stove top space. So it really depends on what I'm doing and where I need space, I guess.

I just bought my FruitSaver steam canner last week. I tried it for the first time 2 days ago, and I have a few questions and hope you can answer them. Do I only need to start up the canner but not to the rolling boil while I am prepping and cooking my product, then turn it up after I put the filled jars in and wait until indicator is in my green zone to start my timer for processing time needed? Can I put in jars to heat up/stay warm in there? If so, do they need to be filled with water, or do I heat them up in a water bath and then put them in the steam canner? Thanks, in advance, for some further clarification so I get more comfortable with this process using the steam canner.
@2leelouCreates
@2leelouCreates 2 года назад
You can set the jars in the canner to get hot prior to filling them. You don't need to have water in them. If your process is less than 10 minutes you can heat it to the right level on the indicator for 10 minutes to sterilize the jars. Then just carefully add some hot water into the base without removing the jars. If the process is over 10 minutes you don't have to sterilize the jars. You can just heat the jars in the canner. But once the jars are filled and the top is on you bring it up to boiling to the indicated level and then start your timer.
@dianablaisdell1578
@dianablaisdell1578 2 года назад
Thank you so much for your prompt reply! I am going to try this today when I prep my peaches for jam. You take the jars out one at a time to fill and then return it back to the canner and then take out the next one and repeat this process until all are full and in the canner, correct?
@2leelouCreates
@2leelouCreates 2 года назад
@@dianablaisdell1578 Yes but keep the top on between removing each jar as that will help keep them warm. When they are all full and in the steam canner bring it up to the mark on the indicator for your altitude then start timing. When the time is finished just turn the heat off and let the indicator come back to zero. You find the process to be much quicker overall because it takes hardly any time to heat unlije watching a pot waiting for it to boil.

Not seeing your Amazon store link? Also if you lift lid to fill jars which are in the steam canner already keeping warm, do you fill them while still in canner? doesn’t temperature go down again if you do that? Is this ok?
@2leelouCreates
@2leelouCreates 2 года назад
As you do the jars they are hot Nevada they've been heated in the steam canner. When you put the top back on and bring it back up to full steam it only takes a few minutes. Here's a link to the newest one I got. Ibreally like it because it's multipurpose. amzn.to/3geV5w5
