Awesome work! Thanks for the fix on this and cool to see a video of the action too. Yet again another save from Alon - last time it was manually unbending pins on a CPU that was crowbarred into my PC by a friend.

Fixed! Thank you for the video. I didn't have a air desoldering unit but between a solder sucker, soldering braid and a fine tip soldering iron I was able to do it.

It's crazy that steam doesn't have a simple way to repair this problem. I'm going to try this in a few days when my parts come. I've never soldered before but I've watched multiple videos now and think I can do it.

I think Steam's design decision here is honestly quite reasonable. Compared to other consumer electronics, this thing is so much easier to fix. Plus if they made it even more modular, a handheld console as large as this would probably end up even bigger, and that may not be a good thing for usability.

Hello, I had exactly the same problem, to solve I lubricated the plastic button and glued a thickness of about 1mm between the plastic button and the button. now it works perfectly.

Doing it this week when my LB button comes in! Used a paper clip to make contact to the button and got no response, so this seems to be the fix since the button clicks but doesn’t respond on the Deck

I know this is old and I don't expect a reply but I've have a problem removing the r2 button can i have any advice on removing the pegs i do the same devices you and put it in the same place but the button won't come undone

Its usually not the button itself, but the trigger that hits the button. It wears down.

Haven't noticed any difference in comparison with the original one, clicky and still working like a charm since it was repaired!

Costs 125 to send to Steam. It's an annoying issue and it's due to the position on the board of that button. I even replaced.the L1 but not s permanent fix due to the internal click
