One of best things about the 1200p native resolution is that it means it has the same native aspect ratio as the Steam Deck (16:10). This means if you want to run more demanding AAA games at the deck’s native target 800p or use FSR to get optimal performance it looks MUCH better than trying to do the same on other displays that run at 1080p (16:9). The 120hz also means you can use v sync @ 30fps and it will be buttery smooth compared to 30fps at 60hz.
This is still looks better, and worth more than "that distopian apple shid, with questionable privacy", (not because the price). Btw thx for showing us this glasses, i only know the nreal one, not that i have any money for any of these :( .
There are some usb-c splitters, that come with 2 female usb-c, one of which can be used for charging only, the other one - charging and data. Some usb-c hubs also feature such functionality.
I’ve not had any luck with a usb splitter or the offical rokid hub. It charges the steam deck but doesn’t pass through the display to the glasses. If you want to charge the deck at same time then you’d need to connect to glasses via a dock/hdmi using an adapter
I can talk from a Switch- Rokid ( production unit) combo with the official rokid usb c splitter. I had the switch charge but no video feed when using a powerbank that did not deliver the needed juice. Stronger powerbank helped here. Plus I now plug the power and glasses cable into the splitter first then splitter into the switch.
@@steamdeckguy for me its worked straight with rokid hub. You just need to connect it propertly. Its working propertly also with nintendo switch - you only need rokid hub and power adapter/power bank. No need for docking station...
It may seem expensive but when you think that a semi decent small screen TV costs around $300-$400 , for what you are getting here it’s pretty competitive.
Just wait for Pro version of these glasses, they are coming within 3 months time, they gonna have 6DOF tracking + hand tracking + AR chip + Google AR OS + wider FOV and 1600P panels + active dynamic shading lenses + they can keep screen stationary in place..... I mean it will ge even dumb to buy Vision Pro when these are out and more importantly they don't need cameras + depth sensors + screens to show surroundings.... They are transparent!!!
Yeah, I have the rokid station and it’s OK, but I wish they had added 3dof like the beam so you can pin the screen to a fixed position. That is all we want….missed opportunity ino and the only reason I’d consider the xreal over the Rokid
Is it true that when u dock the steamdeck, the rokkid max glasses dont allow a picture to be seen because it doesnt pick up the video out (usb c) from the dock to the glasses? Ive read a lot of reviews saying u cant dock it, therefore with the steam deck that would be basically useless because u need to be able to charge your deck ( currently i dock it jsaux dock and am using the GOOVIS G3 MAX which is just a mind blowing headset for movies and steamdeck) but i reckon the rokkid max look a little bit more portable for trips.

in my experience my rokid max suddenly cut off video display when my steamdeck battery hits certain level like sometimes 50% or sometimes 40ish and im wondering maybe steamdeck has this battery saving features when battery is low or something so im wondering what can you recommend for me to be able to play on my glasses while charging the steamdeck..
Hi, when you talk about IPD , it’s it that things are out of focus for me. It’s that I get double vision, and it’s only ok through the app. I have a IPD of 60. Rokid have not Replied to any of my mails about this . Any ideas ?
If nearsighted (struggle seeing things far away) then the myopia adjustments replaces the need to wear prescription glasses (providing myopia in the range of 0d-6.00d). Myopia adjustments will fix blurry images. It’s nothing to do with IPD. A high IPD means as you look straight into the lenses you are not looking at the “sweet spot”. If you move the glasses to the side of one eye and the image becomes clearer than your IPD is the issue.
I’m using the HDMI to USB-C adapter from Ugreen. You can buy it from Rokid. Not sure why but doesn’t seem to be available anywhere else…. It needs power so you connect HDMI into the PS5 and then there is a usb A cable for power that you can plug into the spare port in the back of the PS5. Then you just connect the glasses to the adapter. I also picked up a 5m USB-C extension cable that works fine. You’ll just need to make sure it supports data (most of the cheap ones only supply power).
How would you describe the difference between using this 1080p display on your face or a physical 4K 85inch 4 meters away ? Would the user be able to tell the difference in resolution ?
The tv in my video is a 55inch LG C9, so it’s a few years old now but still gives a fantastic image. When playing my ps5 on the Rokid it looked just as good as the tv. Most games are rarely running at ‘proper 4k’ anyway.. the only issue being slight blurriness as mentioned in the video and the reflections. If you hold your phone horizontal about 10cm from your face, then that’s what you can expect, except that everything will be in focus. It ‘feels’ basically like a small tv really close to you face, rather than a large screen far away. I think VR headsets do the ‘cinema experience’ better, but the image quality on these is much better. If I had the room for an 85inch tv I’d probably prefer that, but for a personal screen, lying in bed, or on a plane - these are awesome. I recently watched Obi-wan kenobi on Disney plus with these and it was great! The image is slightly smaller when mirroring via a phone, but it makes it appear sharper and I didn’t notice any blurred edges
As a person that has a lg c2 a sony a90j and various 4k monitors msi and asus I have to say this screen looks really good cause the pixel density is for a tiny screen which makes it look super share.
Haven’t tried them. On paper the rokid max are better but I’m hoping to be able to do a side by side comparison at some point. Apparently the nreal/xreal can do 40hz mode but not seen anyone test it yet…
@@steamdeckguy bro they had an update to perform 60hz you just have to plug it to a computer and instal it from their site. Everything works like a charm. I did hear the Rokids are good too tho
@@slaapliedje I see no reason why they wouldn’t. I actually have the rokid version of the wireless adapter which means you can use it with an iPhone. The problem is that if doesn’t support hdcp so you can’t play any streaming content such as Netflix or Disney plus. For that reason, it makes it pointless….. I might pickup the nreal version to see if it works bettrr
Nreal Air getting 120hz update this month also, it's amazing to see them improving Air than making new ones, they could have made Air Max with 120hz and sell it
Yes but the Rokid Hub does NOT work with Steam Deck and that is an ABSOULTE deal-breaker. You cannot charge your deck and use the glasses at the same time, so forget relying on power banks for example. Rokid claims to have fixed this for 'Chinese customers' but what good is that? Until they sort that out this thing is basically garbage.
I tried it using HDMI as I don’t have USBC- it worked fine, just the taskbar was a little blurry. Although if you changed the display scale to something like 150% it was usable.. Playing games is great, particularly if you have a beefy computer and can play with higher settings. Likewise for movies and streaming etc it’s great, but for general desktop browsing or work it’s a little meh, and I still prefer a regular monitor.
Apple glasses are supposed to come out next. And they look way better. They are normal looking glasses too. These are just a monitor, which is great too.
