Steam Pinnace 199 was built for the Royal Navy at Samuel White's Yard at Cowes in 1911.
She was restored and maintained by the Maritime Workshop - Gosport.
Believed to be the last remaining naval steamboat of this type and is listed in the
National Historic Ships Register as a designated vessel.

Just found this video on youtube, look who's poking their head out of the engine room hatch to gauge speed through water as we enter the camber at HMS Dolphin, minute 8.37, its 10 years ago but even then there's a little bald patch there...

My father and I sailed on 199 in 2004. It was great fun. Only shame is her main engine being enclosed. Some plexiglass instead of steel plates to make her moving bits more visible would be a nice addition in the course of her restoration.

Wonderful boat but...40 litres an hour!? Seriously? That’s a litre every 500 yards at 10 knots.
