Only thing missing is real naval battles really. But seriously everything in Steam & Steel is so insane in scale, depth & replayability. If you have Medieval 2 get it installed and try this beautiful mod out! Let me know what you think about it in the comments section below & if you'd like to see a proper Victoria Total War made!
It looks amazing, I'm going to download it right now. But it would be cool if you transferred it to the Rome remastered, where you would have more freedom when it comes to map sizes and the number of factions, plus it is more polished and has the Steam workshop. Still, I hope you continue with the work, it looks great.
i just have to personally thank you. i have been so sad for years that we would probably never get a gunpowder age total war that spans the globe. then you come along. so glad i found this mod. thank you for all your hard work.
I'm installing it right now as I type this. If you guys keep it up and go full Divide and Conquer levels of detail, it's gonna be the best thing to happen to TW.
This is the proof that @CreativeAssembly if you put love and effort into a game that is actually loved by the community you would flourish. nut you decide instead to remain servants of SEGA.
Aren't they literally owned by Sega? I don't know how much they can do, beside leaving the company and creating a new one. (Or join Paradox and fuse EU and the Total War experience.)
They ARE servants of SEGA. SEGA owns them, and are subject to their budget and scope. Stop with the hyperbole. All they need is competition to force them to innovate, because SEGA won't let them do anything that SEGA won't agree to. Simple as.
@@RaveDecoy242hyperbole requires exaggerated statements and aren't meant to be taken literally. But you're telling them to take it literally and contradicting yourself. I don't understand the point of your comment
@@RaveDecoy242 Competition won't necessary mean anything if they get similar profits. Bethesda innovated... what exactly since Oblivion? The only really large difference was the crafting system of Fallout 4 (and you can kill end-game enemies in the first few hours of Skyrim and F4... hurray!)
Of all the games to make a Victorian mod this would be one of the last I would think of. Empire, Napoleon, shogun sure. But I can't comprehend how good of a mod this is. Its crazy and amazing. My future request (idk if the mod has ran out of nations to make as happens with med 2) would be Paraguy so we can have a war of the triple alliance.
How am I supposed to play a new amazing mod every week xD Thank you for the recommendations! I for myself really enjoyed the PuA mod lately, after you made the video, and will definitely test this one too.
OMG This mod takes place during the Paraguayan War here in South America, when Paraguay decided to invade Argentina and Brazil at the same time and ended up getting the worst of it.
Didnt like 1/3 of all Paraguayans die during that war?😭 All i know is that its the one modern era war with hihghest losses in % of the population. Maybe u can succeed now and create a Paraguayan Empire💪🏻💪🏻
"By the end of this video i guarantee you'll wanna try thi-" i literally started downloading by the 1:19 minute. This looks awesome. Edit: btw thanks for your videos. You are awesome too.
Hi, thanks for the video, I keep geting this message -The file you have selected (Steam_Steel_v1.1.7z) is not available via any mirrors. Please check back shortly as our servers update every 5 minutes- any idea about where to get an alternative mirror?
i was just lementing for the last week over the tragedy that was empire total war, and devastated at the fact i will probably never see a globe spanning, colonial age total war. and then this video pops up. holy shit man, this is fucking epic.
I'm curious, it seems gunpowder units will be the main soldier type across the board. But as I recall, M2TW was not the best for this mechanic. The vanilla musketeers were slow and cumbersome and often failed to fire on targets because of line of sight related issues. Have they improved the base game so that it utilizes gunpowder units better?
I'm no expert on m2tw modding but I've been playing it for 10 years now and I think modders have been able to fix that already. I recall using a lot of musketeers in my tsardoms campaign (another m2 mod) and seeing them fire by ranks with skirmish mode on without fail
The 1942 mod from R1 is in the process of being remade for R:R. And while this mod looks really good, I kinda wish they'd make the mod for R:R where they don't really have a cap on region and especially faction limits. Without faction limits, R:R could truly fill out the Victorian era to the point that settlements full of "rebels" wouldn't be necessary.
Oh my gods, this is the era I have ALWAYS wanted in a Total War game!!!! I just wish it was a mod for a newer game, but I will be IMMEDIATELY reinstalling Medieval II just for this mod!
see this is the shit I love, I've been saying we need something set in the Victorian era, now its time for CA to make a fully fleshed out Victorian era game set from the birth and death of queen Victoria 1819 - 1901
Phrases like "THIS MOD BLEW MY MIND!" are clickbaits. He (and half of RU-vid) does that to attract new viewers. This mod itself is quite mid. Unbalanced, unfinished and buggy but with potential. Check "Lucium Total War". It's more polished.
I wonder if there could be a railroad-esque mechanic. I had been thinking about the possibility of Victoria Total War after Shogun implemented a railroad mechanic.
I'd been thinking for a long time that taking the premise of Fall of The Samurai and applying to the whole world would be an amazing game with tons of options for alternate history. Less developed nations struggling to modernize in a race against the clock against jingoist European powers eager to expand. So awesome that these guys were working on it the whole time! Definitely going to download!
Thanks for the video and the support! We're well aware of the current limitations and issues, thanks for your patience in letting us get them resolved!
I think that it's sad that there was a mod similar to this for Empire: Total War but its development has long since been halted which is just so sad because ETW suits this setting so well, I think.
Pretty funny that it’s highly likely the next total War is supposed to be Victorian to WW1 era. Will be neat to compare the 2, I’m sure the official one will be a lot more polished but will probably be launching with a 10th of the content
It is possible for you to do a video on the Shogun 2 Master of Strategy mod? Andy's Take just made a video on the best mods for each Total War and he chose that one. Not a single yotuber has done an overview video on it yet.
Not played this yet but CA take a close look at what can be achieved the scope of additional content/DLCs would be huge and am sure would sell very well. The pieces must be there for CA to do something like this a full Victoria Total War then can add the WW1/WW2 games and go in some kind of historical order as tech/history advances. Modders yet again putting CA to shame with skill/hard work and a desire to create a real historical gaming experience.
i will say the more we go into the future or get into modern warfare with total war...would the units get smaller in size due to its now really smaller unit size engagements
I really would like to find a community that still considers empire as the most promising total war due to gunpowder era and like me dreams daily with empire 2 one day coming out. Or are we just a very small community?
whould you please make a video if posible about reshade how to instal and dowload presets to make medieval 2 look a bit better ? also the installing of the Free camera mod so the game feels more like a new total war game. Thanks
Dude, this looks pretty epic. My only problem is Medieval 2 itself, as it's not a super stable game especially when you mod it in my past experience. But the overall idea is sick, Invading all of Europe as Japan would be pretty cool. I wish newer games were as modable as Med 2...
Still wondering why total war just hasnt made a game from after the napoleonic wars to wwi? Like with everything that is available today, you can make an entire world map and have nations like in victoria and use graphics and mechanics like the total war Empire and Napoleon and make one hell of a game with everything going on after 1815! Id pay good money for that! Dreadnoughts, ironclads and the naval races! Muskets to rifles and maxim machine guns! Trade and nation building/uniting! Rebellions and empires emerging! Factories and anything and everything else that happened in that almost 100 years! Please make us a game like that!
Total War games were designed to be played on medium unit settings not large or huge and that's why path finding is screwed and always will be their is no fix.
Very nice mod indeed. I like the global campaign map, and field battles are actually really good. My main complaints are mod stability, and siege battles (the AI just sits in the townsquare getting butchered). Why can't CA create a game like this? Just use the Shogun 2 engine and that's it, it's not that hard! the 1860s is a perfect period for the total war franchise.
Meanwhile Empire TW still only has each country in europe as one or two cities, with campaign map being almost impossible to mod and it's city sieges are only forts and small town in game etc. Really shows you how much more pliable Medieval 2 was for modders.
yeah it's rly a great mod. But why they took this old TW Game for it? Is it an old Mod? I'm not rly interested to play a retro TW Would be nice when it has the Attila or ToB Engine^^
We'd love to include Bulgaria, Moldavia and Wallachia etc. but unfortunately we're limited to 30 factions. These minor powers are planned in future TOW expansions however.
We've successfully resolved the save-game issue and have also fixed another major bug related to battle loading. The next version should be more stable.
@@inquerion8867 that’s ok, what bothers me the most is having to manage so many settlements and the game becoming a slog become everyone can afford dozens of stacks. Many historically accurate provinces is a cool idea, but in practice it makes the game practically unplayable for me.
