On Saturday April 23rd and Sunday April 24th 2016, Norfolk and Western 4-8-4 number 611 was in action again this time leading two excursion trains from Greensboro, North Carolina to Roanoke, Virginia. The trip would start on the old Southern Railway mainline north to Hurt where the train would then head west on the old Virginian Railway line to Roanoke. In this video you will see clips from both Saturday and Sunday of 611 at different points along the route. The engine performed flawlessly and was a real sight to see as she ran at speeds between 40-50 miles per hour.
