On Saturday May 6th and Sunday May 7th 2017 Norfolk & Western 611 pulled a two full day excursions from Lynchburg, VA to Petersburg, VA over the former N&W mainline. Shots in this video are from both days. Please Enjoy.
Love those "fallen flag" rainbow trains! brings back fond memories of the 40s and 50s when there were many differant railroads. and the mighty steam engines that pulled them, many thumbs up! and hi fives! id love to be on that train and walk through the differanr coaches!
Sweet video! I was one of those guys in the field next to you when it crossed Opossum creek trestle on sunday night. My video has the guy on the quad in the background too. :)
I don’t know if you remember me, but i think after watching some of these shots we were by each other multiple times. I only chased Saturday and it was my first real chase. I remember running into you in the valley as well.
cool to see the Powhatan Arrow, Texas Special, and California Zephyr passenger cars in the mix there. I've seen that Silver Solarium passenger car behind 4449 and 3751 quite often
It's a shame that NS doesn't allow 611 excursions right now, but they will let it travel to places like Strasburg Rail Road. I rode behind it at Manassas June 2016 and at Strasburg Sept 2019.
