I am a volunteer there at the colorado railroad museum, most of our staff are volunteers. But I am an engineer, just became one after going through my final training tests. And yes, the C-19 love to slip 24/7. It also doesn’t help that they were going right into a 3-4% grade right off the bat after a complete stop.
0:27 wow that reminds me of me and my grandpa when I was 2 we rode in the cab of a steam locomotive I don’t remember what type and it probably looked just like that rip grandpa I miss you
Trains have very little friction in comparison to the rail so it just slips. Typically what they would do is release a bit of sand under the wheels to get more traction
The 4-8-4 is cb&q 5629 not gtw 5629 it could run on the Grand Canyon and it could double head with 4960 in its cb&q look and 5629 could be renumbered to 5632 or 5629 could be in a Grand Canyon look like 5629, and 29 and could triple head when 29 is restored
