I find it pretty funny that Stede says "it's not really the crowd for 'skull talk'." when he's pretending to be a phrenologist, and phrenology is the study of the shape of the skull. And the first thing that happens when they walk in is Antoinette and Gabriel walk up to him and ask him to feel Antoinette's skull. 😅
@@politemenace5781 (a bit late to the party) while yea, agree, I gotta say there could've been intentional layers to that. if Ed setting ship on fire was solely for killing and lolz, that could make Stede question whether the bath moment from earlier on was actually honest. like- what if Ed lied to him in such convincing way? have he really haven't directly kill anyone? a slippery slope to lose trust. meanwhile it was more like snobs being idiots were cause of the fire, not like Stede threw a candle on curtains or sth. other thing is that Stede seems to have varied responses to violence- rich snobs put Ed in visible distress, they were mean for no reason (I mean.. they probably saw him not exactly as a person, but an unusual exotic curiosity that was fun to toy with for a while when they got bored of Stede, but that's another topic). dudes whom they've raided together- maybe Stede didn't mind it that much due to excitement (lol the way he scolded Lucius for not taking notes while in the middle of battlefield). like one thing is pirates being pirates, other is just being mean (as CJ described those burning people). perhaps it also could tie to his trauma, although it fits more to the next thing they were doing- coconut throwing being similar to kids throwing stones at him? idk, maybe I'm gonna catch something else after another rewatch 😅
The best part about Ed's weird little introduction-dance while he's wearing Stede's clothes is that no one is playing that fancy music in the show. The characters are experiencing that moment in dead, awkward silence.
I could write a fucking essay on the magnificence of this fucking show but one of my favorite scenes is the scene where Ed is looking at all of Stede’s things, especially the model boat. It’s such a good parallel for the moment win Stede shows it to Mary. Instead of making fun of him or being disinterested, he is literally giggling in delight. It’s the cutest shit ever!
Yes! What I love is that throughout the show we’ve seen over and over that Stede isn’t the best at first impressions and will grow on people slowly, but Ed instantly thinks Stede is just the best person ever.
This show is literal perfection. Gives me everything I desire. And yet my favourite line is still 'don't debase yourself for a man who hasn't a single tureen on board'
But his outrage is entirely justified, that’s the best part! If the ship has no means from which to serve a soup course, how dare the captain consider himself above them? I mean… he has a point! 🤣
I'm unhealthily obsessed with the way Blackbeard says 'summer linens' at 2:55. Also I'm unhealthily obsessed with the whole show, in general. But that's a great delivery
i have an unhealthy obsessions with his "hoo hoo hoo hoooooo" giggle while rummaging through stedes stuff, cos its the exact noise i make when i run away from my bf at the hardware store without warning and start poking at shit five aisles down
I never realised before than in the aristocrate's boat when everything is on fire because of **passive agression** someone was shouting "Au secours!" wich means help in French, i'm so glad I caught that ^^ Good video btw
