The steel club side clean aka clubbell pendulum is a fundamental heavy club exercise. It is to steel club training what the clean is to kettlebell training.
One of the great things about club training is the ability to easily train in the frontal and transverse planes. Because the weight is elongated, it's so much easier to move the weight around the body in all planes of motion... something rarely done with traditional forms of strength training.
The key to the side clean is charging your weight in the opposite direction to the club as it moves around the body to offset the weight and avoid being pulled off balance.
Clubbell mills are a fantastic exercise for building shoulder strength, grip strength and increasing shoulder mobility.
This club is 8 kilos which is a good intermediate weight to get started with.
You do not need a heavy weight when training with clubs because of the leverage disadvantage of your grip being far away from the centre of mass of the club.
Plus, you can increase the force of the club four times just by swinging the club twice as fast.

It took me ages and I have experience in martial arts. I recommend that you see summer huntington's channel. Work on separate parts that make up the mill, and don't worry about it, just don't give up.. 🙂

Awesome. I've just been doing reverse swings for mobility and shoulder warmup, but the regular mill looks FANTASTIC for volleyball swing training. I'll be getting some heavier ones for training this properly!

These are very underrated tools! Been using kettle bells and all the normal untraditional tools, just added the mace and steel club to my arsenal and boy oh boy are they a weakness revealer! I love things that point out my weakness now vs the younger me that would listen to my ego and just not do the workout or exercise! The 40 yo me lives this shit and feeling stupid and progressing in something I’m shitty at!

20kg on the steel club (single arm) and 25kg on the steel mace (two handed), this as as heavy as we make at the moment. I have new adjustable bamboo clubs/maces that are in production now... I've tested them up to 27.5lg (two handed), they'll be available soon: www.dangerouslyfit.com.au/adjustable-club-mace/
