When pushing into your enemy's territory, have at least 2 recon units to leapfrog one while the other is safe behind your front line. This way you can afford to have the recon to be doing it's job in the dangerous foreground. If and when the foremost recon unit gets it, you can always set up a defense around the reserve recon unit.
Move infantry forward as soon as enemy infantry is suppressed when attacking. Do not kill by fire, make them surrender. If you fire fight too long it makes your units vulnerable to artillery and counter-attacks, because the own position is disclosed.
