I did notice a couple small rust spots appearing so I applied a light coat of oil before I put it back in storage. I linked the exact stencil I purchased off Amazon in the description above. Thanks for watching.
I love these stencils. I have made 3 unions and the results were awesome. I make my unions on a single piece of wood and them combine the union with the strips using backers. These stencils allowed me to make the unions without wearing my 73 year old eyes out. I plan on using all three sizes using these stencils.
Thank you for the video. I am happy that I bought one last year before That Flag Company stopped selling them. The steel ones still found on Amazon are made in China. 😞
I’m not 100% sure. The star points are pretty small. I don’t think you’d be able to find a router bit with bushing small enough for that to work. I haven’t looked for one, but never seen anything that small for a router before.
Hi. Thanks for the video. It appears at 1:20 that the Dremel tool is eating away at the stencil. Like with each pass the star actually gets larger. Have you found a way to keep this from happening?
I found it particularly challenging to find the right depth with my Dremel. If the bit is too high, it grinds the metal a little. If it’s too low it doesn’t cut the surface fiber of the wood and leaves a bunch of wood strings. The depth on my Dremel is adjusted by loosening the thumb screw and sliding the router frame up or down manually. It’s very imprecise. Perhaps a different Dremel attachment would make this easier. The good new is that the picture in the video is zoomed in. You can’t really see those grind marks. In fact, I didn’t even notice them until I zoomed that picture.
Why not outline each star w a chisel and hammer then remove stencil and go back w a small disc bit on a dremel and take the top layer out or chisel each star to the original chiseled outline……put the effort in and use your noodle.
