Steelers Hall of Fame quarterback Terry Bradshaw explains why relations between him and current Pittsburgh QB Ben Roethlisberger remain icy to say the least.
@@crackerjack_1390 Ben was not even born when Terry won 4. They might be cordial because of this, but no reason for a "relationship." Terry is right about Steeler fans. He gave 4 SB wins, what the hell else do people expect?
AZDuffman your completely right but Ben could have a great person to call if he ever had a question or anything. But I guess I’m just biased on him being from Louisiana though
Lol yarite. If dude walked around in Pittsburgh rn he wouldn’t be walking for very long. Bcuz the people who pick him up and carry him wherever he wanted to go. Dumbass thinks he speaks for the whole damn city
It's hard to compare Qbs from different generations, but if you look at arm strength when they have to "zip it" between coverage, Terry was one of the best, huge arm.
As a life-long Steelers fan who watched the birth of the Steel Curtain and the 70s dynasty as a teenager and young adult, but also remember vividly my last phone conversation with my dad on the day we drafted Big Ben because we were so excited...my dad would unexpectedly pass away just a coupe weeks after. Let me just say that Terry will always be THE qb in Pittsburgh. Ben made bad choices off the field and just because he finally figured it out and straightened his act out does not mean he gets a pass on those embarrassments he brought to our beloved Steelers. Ben had a 1st ballot Hall of Fame career and there is no denying that, but there is sooooo much more than that to be a Steeler in high regard.
2019/2020 season says you're done Ben. You're arm is a shadow of what it used to be. You can't move. As soon as opponents got wise to the offense being formed around your weaknesses the Stillers were toast. I see a couple of bad years comin for the team. (Lifelong fan btw)
These two comments, though obviously typical of shallow males, are just plain drivel. Instead of having actual honor and respect about Terry Bradshaw and Ben two complete strangers to these men, they both make shallow and narrow minded assumptions. You two would be perfect as two reporters covering the Steelers asking and saying asinine things.
@@USA92I don't have to know them personally to know that Ben is the better player. But keep jumping to conclusions and trying to make your self look smart on RU-vid LOL
It really is a non-story, you can see both sides of it. Ben made mistakes early with the motorcycle accident and the incident in Georgia. Terry voices his opinions about everything and basically said the truth. Ben has grown up, admitted his mistakes, but I see his point where he shouldn't have to apologize to Terry or go out of his way to build a relationship with Terry.
and the whole Ben rapist thing is hard for Terry to get over since he has daughters, which is the big elephant in the room. Good for Terry. Nice to see people with moral standards
Yes Ben does deserve hall of fame. 64,000 pass yds. 418 tds to just 200 ints. He's top 10 in every passing category. Only QB ever to have like four 500 yd games. Only QB to throw 6 Tds and no ints in back to back games. Need I go on??
Chuck Noll was the Belichick of his day...he didn't care about getting along with his players, he only cared about winning. If that meant crapping all over Bradshaw, in order to get him to play better, so be it. But judging by other interviews I've seen, he never forgave Noll for it. Winning can have a very high price.
@@MStafford-lr9le part of the problem is that Bradshaw contends the criticism was unnecessary for him to play better or win. I guess the success speaks for itself, so Bradshaw should probably be a little more understanding
Does TB have more to offer Ben, or does Ben have more to offer TB? TB has built a very successful life after football, and has been through it all. Ben just may want to tap into that knowledge at some point. You don't have to like everybody or anybody, but there seems to be something else here.
It all comes down to stats and facts: Terry Bradshaw (212 TD's 210 INT's) Big Ben (363 TD's 191 INT's + 19 rushing TD's) If Bradshaw didn't happen to play on a team that had one of the greatest defenses of all time, we wouldn't be having this conversation.
@@rogerborst632still high turnover rate especially when you consider the amount of passes they attempted compared to today. Today's rules definitely come into play but Ben's completion percentage is much higher also. Terry played great in the playoffs no doubt but for anyone saying he's better than Ben, it's simply not true. Terry was the best until Ben. Now we'll see if they ever replace Ben when he's gone (which might be sooner than later)
Most of Terry Bradshaw's career was played before passer interference was a rule it was common for even the best QBs to throw a lot of ints big Ben would've been no different in TBs era.
@@redwingsfan3621 They weren't listed on the site I looked them up on. Ben's were from Wikipedia so they had everything right there. More rushing TD's mean nothing in regards to this argument but keep living in the past.......which you obviously have to do alot since your're a Red Wings fan
I remember in the early 80s when Bradshaw really didn't get Montana much credit. I think he didn't like that Montana's 49ers matched Bradshaw's 4 SB championships.
When it came to Montana and his dynasty era success with Bill Walsh's Niners in the 1980s, it was probably more an issue of jealousy and envy on Bradshaw's part because he saw how well Walsh and Montana worked in concert with another and how more creative as an offensive innovator and genius Bill Walsh was and how Montana's career stats ended up being so much more in terms of passing yards, career TD's, overall wins, and Montana's longevity. Maybe Bradshaw watched Montana for the duration of his career and wondered to himself at times " At several points during my career, I could have posted or thrown just as many yards or TD's as this guy is and actually being encouraged to do so by my HC and he and his HC actually get along". You have to also keep in mind that during the 1980s, Bradshaw worked entirely as CBS sports NFL play-by-play commentator and witnessed new types of QB's being groomed to throw for 350 yards and 4 TD's every game like Dan Marino, Dan Fouts, Joe Montana, Boomer Esiason, Warren Moon, and Jim Kelly.
Bradshaw has nothing to prove to any Quarterback. It was a completely different game when Terry Played & he played it Very Well. The Steelers of The 60’s & early 70’s were the First originally Dynasty. Ben played really well too, and also has nothing to prove on the field.. However, his off the field indiscretions will earn him Angry Fans of The Steelers. I’m sorry to say that I’m not familiar with the reference of Ben & Girls. Was he buying Hookers? Was he accused of Rape? Was he caught with underage girls? Can someone point me in the right direction for answers to my Questions?? ⤴️ THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
Terry Bradshaw is a Steelers legend - Worthlessburger is a disgrace as a human being and his SB record is 2-1...........Terry has a 4-0 record plus MVP twice.I think that's all that needs to be said.
Benny Hath Ben has all of them, except the one record that really matters, double the Super Bowl wins. And terry did it with class and respected his teammates.
@@bballkid7409Ben never had a defense like Terry had for his whole career. When Ben had a top 10 defense, he went to 3 super bowls. If there was free agency in the 70's like today, that defense would have never stayed together for those 4 championships and that's a fact
Jay Frehley and if pigs can fly..... the keyword in your comment is “if”. “If” does not apply to sports. You can live in fairyland “if” world all you want it doesn’t make it reality. What if that whole defense said screw it let’s all take the minimum salaries and stay together and win a bunch of superbowls? That’s as realistic as what you stated. The fact is that terry has double the Super Bowl rings as Ben. “If” won’t change a damn thing about that.
As a player Roethlisberger can't hold Bradshaw's jock, never mind as a man (stat geeks hold comparison, as passing game-rules changed. What hasn't changed is what makes a "man").
Roethlisberger had two separate sexual assault allegations against him one in Nevada and one in Georgia. The one in Georgia was not pursued by the DA because of a lack of evidence and the one in Nevada ended with a settlement but a former coworker of the victim had a sworn affidavit saying the alleged victim openly bragged about getting with Roethlisberger and said she wanted to have a "little Roethlisberger".
133 and 74 in his 13 year career, a Superbowl ring 8 trips to the playoffs, 2 Superbowl appearances and 3 AFC championship games not to bad for a quote unquote cheerleader ha Terry. I would love to see you coach Duck Hodges and Mason Rudolph lets see how many wins would you accumulate I doubt 8.
Put Ben on that team in the 70s and you win 6 or 7 SBs. Terry Bradshaw is historically the greatest Steelers QB, but Ben is a better overall QB. I love Terry Bradshaw though, wish Ben would have a better personality.
I love how being a person who sexually assaults women is referred to as "problems early in his career". Way to play nice there Terry. I wonder how he tip toes around Ray Lewis' past.
Bradshaw wants all the praise and attention on himself. He's bitter that Ben is doing so well. Bradshaw blasted Ben mercilessly....so he can't expect Ben to like him.
Terry is and always has been a flake. I grew up in Pittsburgh and watched Terry play his whole career. He became a great QB, but he was and still is a drama queen. Noll was purposely tough on him to get him to realize his potential. It took quite a while but it worked, but Terry feels that Noll could have treated him better. Terry got his feelings hurt and has never gotten over it. I think this jades his feelings towards Ben who has been a successful QB from day 1 and is also headed to the Hall of Fame. Just my opinion.
@@bradyblackburn7877 Two looney women looking for a payday by accusing a star athlete of assaulting them. It works both ways. You're a moron if you believe them or your a weepy liberal. LOL
gjwalbert Enough of this (liberal) this that garbage. Politics is two sides of the same coin. Even so, nobody in their right mind wants any woman to be raped. I wasn’t there so I don’t know but at the time there was more evidence against Ben than for him.
Nonsense. Bradshaw was critical of Elway because he (John) was the no. 1 overall pick in 1983, and he forced the Baltimore Colts to trade him, threatening to sign with the Yankees if Baltimore didn't comply. Terry was the no. 1 overall pick in 1970, and he signed with a Steelers team that won exactly 1 game the year before.
Terry bashes Ben then finishes off w/ “No ill feelings”...give me a break. He still holds a grudge over Chuck Noll (who he owes his career to) bc he wasn’t coddled and praised enough during his time w/the Steelers. What a baby.
WickedTornado Interesting. I didnt know this I was going off Noll’s Football Life doc where (at that point) Terry still appeared to be still holding onto a grudge seemingly based off not getting adequate superstar treatment. I stand corrected though.
Terry has been anti Steeler for years now. He always Rips Big Ben& Mike Tomlin and both of them are super Bowl Champions.. have some damn respect old man
With the talent they have had over the years they should have won a lot more. Tomlin and he Steelers are Bills bitch, NE has owned them, except the year Brady had the ACL and could not play.
Dude. WTH are you on about. Big Ben might not be a good guy at all, but he’s probably one of the ten best playmaking qbs of all time. And I don’t think I need to even bring up Aaron Rogers. You ruined you’re own statement when you included him
I insulted him and was disrespectful towards him several times on national tv before I ever met the guy so I guess he may not like me all that much...amazing how that works.. nobody will confuse Terry for a genius.
Who the hell is Bradshaw to be criticizing Rothlesburger ? Bradshaw doesn't get it he's not very bright 'm sure Ben and the coach didn't appreciate it at all to have Bradshaw out there shooting his mouth off.
