The Cleveland Browns acquisition of Deshaun Watson all but spells the end for Baker Mayfield’s time in Cleveland. According to a report, the Browns are looking for a first-round pick in return for a trade involving Baker. However, another report details that if he gets cut, the AFC North division rival Pittsburgh Steelers would quote “pounce” to sign him as a free agent. Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe predict the market for the former number one overall pick.

He said attitudes against betting have gotten a lot more open on tv recently, and that he felt a certain amount of hypocrisy judging that player too hard. Then gave an example of the attitude becoming more open of when he worked at a radio station years ago, "we couldn't mention betting money, we had to act as if we were betting over cans of soda instead!".

So when Skip was trying to compare Odell to Cup, probably the most accomplished one season wide receiver of all time, he thought it was fine. But when Shannon tries to compare him the top quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes or a Deshuan he’s going to far too the top.

Cupp is great - He's just getting started... But he's not "The most accomplished 1 season Receiver of all time". Larry Fitzgerald was better... that year he was in the SB. Larry had 2 TDS and 127 yds in his Super Bowl. Jerry Rice had 215 yards in the 1988 SUper Bowl.... Cooper just had 92 yards in his 1st Super Bowl lol He's playing in an era with more passing, he's got 17 games. etc.

@@MrLarryLessor Notice how I said “most accomplished” and “ONE year” he got the triple crown (receptions, receiving yards, touchdowns) the first wide receiver to go over 2,000 yards including post season, and he was offensive player of the year and Super Bowl mvp all in the SAME year. Literally every yearly achievement you could get as a wide receiver he got in ONE year. If you can name the receiver who’s done that in ONE year then we can talk. Jerry rice has done all of those, but never in the same year. We’re not talking about who had a better Super Bowl game or career whatever. As far as single season Cooper has had the the single most accomplished season that a wide receiver can have. Even though that your missing the point of my first comment.

It's his 1st year putting up those numbers - Like I said, his numbers from the Super Bowl weren't even close to what those Hall of Famers had in the big game. If He retired today, obviously he would not be a hall of famer - (or more realistically, if he had a career threatening injury today or in September... he would not be a Hall of Famer. Is Bo Jackson a Hall of Famer? Not yet and no he won't be. He only had 4 good years. And he was WAAAAAAAY Faster than Cooper (as a running back). 4.2 speed. Let's wait before we start giving him all these "Greatest Year ever" titles.... Let's see if he can sustain it for at least 3 or so years - after teams have a chance to scheme up against him etc etc. Can he put up those numbers while getting double teamed etc? Jerry won receiver titles year after year even though other teams realized "He's the #1" So other teams schemed, tried to bracket and double team him etc. Frankly Receiver is a dime a dozen position..... YOu wouldn't give a $20 million a year contract to Cooper.... But you would to Von Miller. Tyreek just got traded for 4 draft picks.... that's because The Chiefs know they can replace tyreek.... Mahomes is the real franchise guy - so All Pro Safety is harder to find than a All Pro great receiver. There are so many top receivers you can win with right now: DK Metcalf/Lockett , Deebo Samuel/Kittle (5th round Pick), Jamarr Chase / Tee Higgins, Davante Adams/Waller etc. And some of those guys (including Cooper) aren't even 1st round picks. Rice and Fitzgerald - they were 1st Rounders.

Baker's rookie contract ended in 2021. He signed a 1 year extension which means some communication broke down in the negotiations. Berry had no intention of ever paying Baker the big money. Yet, Baker's agent told him to play injured and he would get the big money for him later.

Skip is skipping over (all pun intended) the fact that when Odell went down, the Browns focused on Chubb and the running game to take the ball out Baker’s hands. With the defense focused on Chubb and the running game, that freed things up for Baker. Skip acting like it was all Baker and OBJ was the problem!

I’m a Steelers fan, and I’m not shy about saying that 11-0 start was one of the most fraudulent records in NFL history. Never once did I think they had a shot at going anywhere in the playoffs. Skip never does mention they lost 5 of the last 6, and gave that playoff game away with six turnovers and spotted Baker 28 points. Not much pressure to perform when you are up 4 TD’s in the first quarter.

Hold on a second why would they cut him when there is a real possibility that Watson will be suspended for minimum of 10-12 games if not the whole season So why not keep him and let him play. This way you rebuild his value because he will be motivated and than trade him in the offseason or by trade him mid season if Watson gets his suspension reduced

I don't mind if the Steelers take Baker. I don't think we need a great QB, I don't think Baker is a GREAT QB. But I think he's good and could fit the Steelers scheme on offense and be better than the last couple years we had with Big Ben. I just don't know what other QBs out there would be much better than Baker but he is definitely not worth a 1st rd pick.

I think Trubisky really deserves a chance. I hope the Steelers at least give him that chance, instead of pursuing Baker. I actually want to see Baker succeed, and I think he also deserves another shot, but no team is going to risk anything more than maybe a 4th rounder to get him. The fact the Texans weren’t willing to take him in a trade should say it all though… that’s just sad.

If baker was a less turbulent guy or he just sat out when he ripped his shoulder up he’d still be Cleveland’s starter. I don’t think Shannon is making a great point, 95% of teams will swap out their QB if it means they bring on a top 3 guy. Baker when healthy is good, but on his best day he’s not deshaun or anywhere close
