Everyone says they LOVE the Roman Wilson pick, yet everyone seems to look at him as just a slot guy and are panicked that we “don’t have a #2”. I think the media has it wrong. Either this was a crappy pick, a slot guy when we already had options there in an offense that will probably rarely even have 3 WRs on the field (and leaving a glaring need on the outside) OR the Steelers view him as a legit option to be the #2 on the outside. I think people are looking at his size and how he was used in college, but the Steelers have always used relatively smaller guys on the outside (Diontae Johnson, Antonio Brown, Hines Ward) and Roman showed he can match up 1 on 1 at the Senior Bowl without necessarily being schemed open. Personally, I think the reason the Steelers don’t seem panicked over getting a #2 is because they have confidence in Wilson, but if I’m wrong and you totally disagree , at least say that you think it was a dumb pick. It can’t be both ways, imo.

I agree but there’s also the fact that he is a rookie; even if we think he cannnn become something he might need some time to settle into the league. We need a #2 with an expiring contract that we can at least bridge the gap and as a safety net

Roman has to be able to beat press and seperate on the outside just like Calvin Austin needs too.He didn't do any of that in college. The NFL is way different. We'll see

@@jagmd we weren’t in a win now scenario….. we were willing to take a chance to let him develop as he played. Didn’t matter if her was or wasn’t good from the jump. We’re in a win now scenario and if Roman Wilson isn’t the 2 from the beginning it won’t be good for us

@@Frankov81 true, but he showed that at the Senior Bowl and I’m sure that will be a point of emphasis at camp. I don’t understand why we would even take him in our situation if we didn’t think he could. So either he can and can play outside, or it’s a bad pick imo, no matter how much I like him.

If we trade for Burks I’m getting his jersey immediately. I went to Arkansas when he was there he was awesome and I still think he has a lot of potential if used right. At Arkansas he was used everywhere like Deebo Samuel because he was our only playmaker but in Tennessee they’ve only really used him as a deep threat and haven’t had great qb play to get him the ball deep.

I believe they are continuing to do things at WR how they have done it for decades. How often do they actually PAY a guy at the WR position? They really liked Roman Wilson, and picked him up. They are probably trying to make room for cap space to pay Pickens next year, or at least offer the contract.

Injury prone means someone is more likely to get injured because of a lingering condition. TJ does not have a lingering condition.

It can also refer to the accumulated games missed to various injuries creating a pattern that can be somewhat expected to continue. It all comes down to, does a guy miss games each season or not.

Post-June 1 trade for a WR makes the most sense for other teams' cap purposes. Burks would be fine for a Day 3 pick or pick swaps and see if they can tap into his potential. He hasn't had great offenses or QB play in Tennessee either but there's likely something better out there next month.

I wouldn't mind taking a flier for him with a pick swap or giving up a 7th for him. But also I agree waiting this out until later in the off-season. That also would allow them to see what Wilson and a few of the younger guys develop.

It's hard to double team a WR when the defense will stack the box to try and defend the run. Normally, you double team with a safety. If the Steelers are the elite/top 5 run game...safeties will have to play closer to the line of scrimmage...which negates the double team. Pickens will have plenty of 1 on 1 coverage with play action passes.

Teams didn't start to stack the box till the last 4 games against us when Broderick really cleared the rookie wall and the run game opened up that's when Pickens really started to shine and he will continue to

@spicecreations1416 If you're playing defense and the opposing team is gashing you for 200+ yards rushing in the game. The strategy goes to stop the run no matter what. Safeties move to 10-13 yards to the line of scrimmage. Linebackers are keying run on every play. For instance, the 2nd Bengals game. The Bengals were getting destroyed running. Bengals decided to move the safety up....George Pickens 66 yards touchdown.. that was after his 1st touchdown that went 75 yards. They didn't double team Pickens even though he already had almost 100+ yards after the 1st quarter because the run game was dominant. The only easy double was because Canada didn't use the middle of the field, didn't use play action, and only had Pickens run a total of 3 routes most of the time. Check those last 4-6 games besides the Ravens game. The Ravens gameplan was to double him no matter what because of the previous 4 games...where he went off and wasn't being doubled because the run game was dominant.

Continuing on The Kahn ma. No quarterback signed for next yr next yr Wilson George on last yr of contract. Warren last yr of contract will they do the same thing to him as Naje. He gets credit for the draft. Anybody that knows football would have made the first two picks. Myself after the second round would have gone defensive line front got pushed around Larry missed tackle after tackle particularly cut backs dude was lost of course ifwaerent looking Ford lineman than you or I could have made the second set of two Wilson's after well c Tyler Boyd would have been the perfect place for him a better receiver than Johnson he could play in any position and plY them good. Plus he'd catch the ball Time get some studs to help T J. Front needs fixed this yr the more pressure on quarterback the better the secondary would look. The front on both sides of the ball wins goes. See the Steelsrs of the 70s. Please discuss on your show because S you could tell couldn't call with this way more than a minute. You do a great job!!

They acquired some guys late last year.so I'm not concerned.i am concerned about this team learning a new offense.just don't want a slow start.i also think someone they already have may emerge at number 2.as far as corner I'm banking on Corey trice making it back it's a risk but if he can stay healthy problem solved.

Multiple playmakers are still needed at the WR position for the games when you may fall behind and need to come back or if you find yourself in an offensive shootout with another team. The game flow won't always allow us to strictly run the ball.

I don't even think Omar is getting another WR. If he wasn't interested in cheap free agent WRs on the open market, why on Earth would you go trade draft capital for the same types of WRs? If you paid attention, we stopped mentioning him as a real possibility a while ago. And especially after drafting Roman Wilson. If they were able to land an outside WR he would've made more sense, but that's why I literally said in this show that he probably wasn't a real target for them unless certain things played out.
