As many times as I’ve heard this song, I still am in awe of Donald’s vocal phrasings. That’s half the fun of listening to SD. The guitar work by Dean is outstanding. Very underrated song IMO. You’ve been posting a lot of reactions so I wanted to take a minute to thank you for all of your hard work. ✌️👍
This one was released as a single here in the UK and actually achieved their highest chart placing. Walter was a big reggae fan, as evidenced in his solo output. To put this in context there really weren't too many (virtually bugger all) white guys doing reggae flavours in 1976.
@@jorozco13yearsago40 Going to be pedantic here. The Clash' first LP had a cover of Junior Murvin's 'Police & Thieves' and that was just 1 year later. Eric Clapton had a facsimile cover of 'I Shot The Sherrif' in 1974. I'm disallowing Paul Nicholas 'Reggae Like It Used To Be' (1977) on the grounds of novely/taste. I'm certain there are more (outside The Police). Would appreciate more suggestions/candidates.
Such a Fun Song, Love the Outro Part, "The Royal Scam" is also Great. Walter and Donald poking fun at the things humans do. Like The U.S. Corp stealing Puerto Rico.
What other band would write a song (a single no less) about a chick cheating on her newlywed husband on their honeymoon and then coming home and having a Haitian gentleman’s baby instead of her husbands? Who comes up with stuff like that?
