John Funk.. yes it is. Just straight ahead thump-along. No rush, no pull. That’s the insane part. Seriously, it actually hurts my ears listening to it. Ouch.
I just saw it played live three days ago. It was something special to see and hear it played live, to absolute perfection. Drummer was of a higher level.
@@jerrymammoser1509 Bernard Purdie is such a master on the drums. He always leaves space for the other instruments to shine and make perfection like this possible.
Chuck Rainey and Bernard Perdie - a better rhythm section is hard to imagine. I love this demo because it brings our the clavinet played by Paul Griffin and the Fender Rhodes by Don Grolnick.
Totally agree. The Clavinet playing on The Royal Scam and Aja is underrated. I'll mention to people that the Clavinet is often played as a substitute for guitar. On these Dan albums, the Clavinet is played along with lead and rhythm guitars, which adds a very rich sound, but I can imagine composing all of it requires a great deal of careful timing and patient editing because the Clavinet can make a song sound overloaded or clumsy if added at the wrong times.
@MrHopeTelevision "WHILE THE MUSIC PLAYED YOU WORKED BY CANDLELIGHT THOSE SAN FRANCISCO NIGHTS, YOU WERE THE BEST IN TOWN. JUST BY CHANCE YOU CROSSED THE DIAMOND WITH THE PEARL, YOU TURNED IT ON THE WORLD, THATS WHEN YOU TURNED THE WORLD AROUND...!" like my voice? :D
Is there both Fender Rhodes and Wurlitzer EP in this song? I've never really noticed the Wurlitzer before because the horns and vocals kind of drown it out.
