Every time I see one of these on the road, it totally boggles my mind knowing that rarely do you see a '57-'58 Plymouth that's NOT a "Christine" replica but just how it rolled out of the showroom 30 or so years ago! Also, given what it requires to put one of these back together (not a very big aftermarket for this car) it's a true labor of love for sure!
love your channel, as a kid growing up on vancouver island we lived next to a wrecking yard and i was all over those ol cars...turned me into the gearhead i still am today...
Shane S Hi! This car will be probably used for the front clip and the frame and drivetrain, as well as the glass and interior parts. I have a better body shell when the time comes to actually build one. Thanks for checking it out!
Awesome to see you guys back on again! I always enjoy seeing these cars run again. Hopefully we can see the Plymouth get a little love, some magic cheese, and a little paint as well. Cheers! Give Stella a pat on the head for me. Keith
squidfisher99 Hey, thanks for the note, and for watching this stuff! I've got a few more of this type of thing coming up; hope you like 'em! Cheers from me and Stella!
Neat old cars. Old Chevy's and Fords have their similarities, but Chryslers are their own breed of car. I know where there are several old Chryslers just sitting in the woods, but the guy will not get rid of them. Keep up the good work preserving history! -Nick.
Great video. Lots of nice stuff. I really liked the the '67 Fury. My second car (not counting the one that never made it on the road) was a '68 Fury II, 2 dr hardtop, which I put many awesome miles on. Then a few years later, I turned a '68 Sport Fury (w/ '67 Fury sedan parts car and totaled '74 Road Runner 440 power train) into a very radical custom, to divert my mind from my first female induced heartbreak.
Ah, you must be referring to the black Plym' Savoy in your latest... Another great find you guys scored. I may just have to make a pilgrimage to Canada and sneak some iron out of there with me!
Hello from central Minnesota! My dad had one of those. He sold his 52 Studebaker Starlight Coupe ( Which his nephew promptly totaled!) and drove it until 63 when he bought A Dodge 330. The Plymouth was A V-8 coupe but ma made him buy A 4 door to accommodate his growing family. He never enjoyed A 2 door again after 63 except for A Ford P.U. he had for A short time. Good to see all the old iron you have. Not much of that stuff survives here in the land of salt and ice!
Gary Ronan Hey, thanks for the note! Glad you liked the old Savoy; not many of them left anywhere; they rusted really badly when they were new. Take care, and cheers from Canada!
I've always been in that small faction of CWM viewers that prefers the French cars and the rest of the Euro-trash to the American iron but this is my favorite of all your cars. Can't wait to enjoy the splice!
I thought a Savoy Sport Coupe would be rare, but it was the second most common after the Savoy sedan with 19,500 produced. I can't wait to see them come together.
Hey now ! ..... The steering tires should be on the back ( winter grips ? oh bald winter grips.... " Slicks then " ) .......... a treasure indeed ! ....keep 'em coming .
Such a cool car, and I'm not gonna lie I really like the look it has going, steel wheels, dents and all, kind of gives it a badass look. I'm really glad you save these cars when so many others might just toss them aside
Still alive and kicking! Hopefully this one will be restored someday. Those cars are getting rarer and almost every 57-58 2dr hardtop might be worth fixing...as long as there is enough left to start with. ;)
Please don't ever get rid of that one! It has come too far from the utter disaster it was. Probably my favorite project . i do really like the Nash too! Hope to see it drive around soon!
This is by far my favourite car of yours, just the way its beat but still cool, down to the grampa grips and everything. Id love to find an old beater farm car like this and just leave it beat and daily drive it. I love the resto work you do, but man this car is perfect as it is.
Hey thanks for the note and for checking out the vid... I also love the old 58, and i would drive it the way it is if that were even slightly possible, but alas she has very little floor left, and the rest of it is no prize either! I will definitely be doing something with the car though, and I am very excited about my idea... It's not gonna be red with a white top, haha... Cheers!
Its fantastic that you posted an update video of my favorite car in your collection on my birthday. I just noticed that. Keep up the great videos, cant wait for more!
Always enjoy watching your videos! Makes me want to get my old 70 Monte Carlo mobile instead of just a garage queen! I'm always checking to see if you have new videos. Long time subscriber from Ontario! Cheers guys and Stella!
I agree definitely! This is one of the best looking American cars ever. Of course I love the movie "Christine" and the Plymouth Fury! I l would like to own such a fantastic automobile...but I really don't know If I want a self repairing one. Maybe it would be nice??? ;-) 2) Where went the ballast on the trunk? 3) Yes please! Do a restoration with it. I'm hardly able to wait! Best regards.
Enjoy the vids! I really enjoy the independents the most but the 1959 Chevy biscayne takes my heart. Those are hard to find in Alabama now. I only drive antique vehicles from now on because you don't have to pay for tag every year just one antique vehicle tag. I sold my jeep ha! You guys keep up the good work
That poor old girl deserves to get back on the road, she dosn"t have to be pretty just safe! And i think she smoked more last time you had her goin, maby the rings are reseating...! Nice to see her back out in the play ground again..!
Loved the 57 Plymouth Plaza and the 58 Plymouth Savoy and the 61 Plymouth Belvedere with the 225 Slant Six is awesome I am a Mopar fan so keep those Plymouth s running.
I liked the IV bottle for fuel delivery, I would leave the patina look and get a few things fixed to make it a daily driver or at least back and forth to the store.👍🏻
Funny , whit the fuel bottle hangin over the fenders looks like one of those elders that walk slowly around a retirement home whit the drip on a wheeled stand.
That is a mint 1958 Plymouth Savoy Personnel prefer Fury or Belvedere I've Loved a fury since I saw Christine when I was a young boy beautiful and I wish I could have one that is my dream car
Keep restoring her she be a beautiful daily driver plus if ur gonna sell it big money car there very rare now there's a junkyard in buffalo New York filled with them they need to be saved all late 50's ply mouths 1950-63.
That old Savoy is rough for sure but its great to see you giving it some exercise. If you can get that one back on the road then I guess theres hope for my Merc.
By far my favorite of your cars turned me on to you guys in the first place if i ever get my crap together i need to visit you guys and have some beers and maybe turn some wrenches only place outside of the states i want to visit lol
Yet another quality, family- oriented video production from Coldwarmotors. BTW, not that it means much, but the lower valance is upside down. Looking forward to more G rated productions guys. lol
Oh man, I haven't seen this thing for ages. She's as beat up as I remember. Thanks for the upload, man! If I lived near you, I'd help with some cars, but you're too far away
Awesome to see some one else saving the old girls. I still need some parts for my 65 Fury II, any one have some laying around? I need a hood ornament and a set of dog dish hub caps.
I didn't think I would ever see a 58 Plymouth Savoy with a 3 speed on the column shift but that's unusual to see one with a straight 6 but Being a Savoy it was Chrysler's low price car in the field now if this was a fury with a golden Commando engine with a 3 speed on the column shift with overdrive this card would be priceless., I had a car like that but it was not a Savoie but it was a fury two door station wagon but it was known as Plymouth Suburban but other than that that's a beautiful car!
Chrysler must have had a heap of old flatheads to get rid of back then. Even our Holdens had OHV from 1948. We did get Chrysler Royals with flatheads however.
That plymouth looks EVIL! Make great halloween party car. That would scare me if I was walking alone on a country road n saw this monster coming towards me
Terrence Gold I have a nice 58 caddy that my parents bought in 1960. I was only 1 year old. Its been mine since my mom signed it over to me in 1982. I was 23. I drive it regularly , and for Halloween I leave it in the driveway with a 6 foot skeleton in the drivers seat, with his bony hands on the steering wheel ,and. And a strobe light on it, from inside . Looks awesome!!lol. Lifelong so cal car. No rust.
