I am fully aware this video annoyingly does have black screens similar to the previous video - the issue has been found and fixed for all future uploads! Sadly this video took well over 20 hours and I do not have time to sort it out outside of using RU-vid's inbuilt editor as I have lot's of other stuff to sort out (The last video is STILL processing such changes, so expect the result far later.). I hope these do not take away too much from the experience as I had a lot of fun both playing and making this video, trust me - This annoys me far more than it annoys you, haha! Hope you all enjoy either way! :D
@@andreastom1755 Seriously, he's had 4 of these playthroughs in a week, that's like 80 hours of playtime _plus_ editing _PLUS_ the Terratech vids. That's an insane amount of work.
It's a Rubik's Cube... I love that it's an event and that nobody in this great Stellaris empire has any idea what they are. And also that even as he died of starvation that starship captain kept fiddling with a Rubik's Cube, of all things.
Agreed, find myself watching the 3rd of these all the way through already. Only thing I dislike is it's hard to find the moment in the vid where I fell asleep again, as I usually watch those in bed. XD
You know, Stellaris may not be my favorite game, but this is still 2+ hours of Lathrix to have on in the background. So it's still a great video in my opinion
Lath if you let the Crisises get 20% of the galaxy then the anti-crisis empires spawn. One per each Endgame crisis (unbidden copycats caunt as one). And Other Events happen IF You do something like inter one of them Queens and let them live to get ‘The Injuried Queen Event’ if you capture the Queen then you can GROW YOUR OWN Scourge! I love your videos!!
I've never caught one of these, on the dot, wow. Love these Stellaris full-throughs by the way, they're great to have in the background of me losing my life to StarCraft 2!
LATH, Why didn't you try to talk to the prethoryn scourge, Only psykers can talk to them, but they act surprised you can understand them* and tell you some really interesting lore. EDIT* Also, you killed them so fast you missed a cool event.
I greatly enjoyed watching this episode. It was quite enjoyable to see the other empires and end game crisis give you some difficulty. Hope to see more of Stellaris in the future!
Damn, 4 years ago now... it's wild how o can just come back after so long and still get some good out of these vids. Be it the dishes, cooming dinner, or falling asleep.
I like these series quite a lot, both for the gameplay and the fact that no matter how evil the empire you play, they always end up taking up the mantle of the galaxy's greatest defender and saving everyone else. Also I liked how the geckos actually became better people as they progressed, granting the dragons citizenship, becoming less authoritarian and replacing the "ruthless slavers" with mining guilds, as well as dismantling their colossus. The great thing is it fits their character, as these were all pragmatic decisions to improve the empire which I like to think they thought of making as they gradually got smarter and smarter. besides the caste system, they ended up not really much worse than most of the other games besides maybe the servitors
GG! I've watched the entire playthrough (as the others). You sound enjoying it, especially during the end crisis. Good content and, I repeat, Good Game on max difficulty and 3 times crisis :)
WOW! That is the rarest end game crisis in the entire game! I am just floored you got them! Then again I guess because the end game crisis happened early it means all the other factions didn't necessarily get forced to use dangerous techs. As I said in a previous video the ONLY way to get them is if no other end game crisis occurs.
The *Psi Corps* building and its line "The Psi Corps is your friend. Trust the Corps." (at around 1 hour, 8 min) is a reference to the Psi Corps organization from the 1990s sci fi TV show "Babylon 5". The entire series was planned out from start to finish before the first episode was filmed, and while the first season drags a bit because they have to introduce so many concepts and get the cast used to whom they're supposed to be playing, the series is *very much worth* your time to hunt down - online if nothing else. There are *so many* fantastic scenes and fantastic lines in the show. Cannot recommend it enough if you can just get through the first half of the first season.
@Lathland 24:34 It's not a bug. When you are looking those diplomatic statuses, the AI empire as an entity is claiming/saying "We are guaranteeing their independence" The "We" being them, and the "their" being you/someone else. You see what they think of you and how they compare to you. I thought this was pretty obvious from day 1. If you want to know AI empires opinion towards a particular empire, use the "thought bubble" icon, low right corner, and click inside the borders of that empire and hover mouse over to see more details.
Aww, it's a shame you didn't get the best part of the Prethoryn event. You can get/find an injured Prethoryn Queen, detached from the main Hive Mind, and raise her as your own. Sort of like Grey, but just an Immortal leader instead of a multi-purpose warrior/ship/governor.
After all the times Lath has hard countered the end game crisis; the swarm appeared with one thing to say: Look at me. I am the hard counter now I know there's quite a few crisis mods on the workshop. Maybe you could check them out?
Not sure if its just an accidential graphic glitch but you can see u huge glowing subspace bubble on the rim off the galaxy there the scourge arrived. And it appeared decades bevor the fleet giving a fair warning in adavance. Since you like the broodqueeens, it is possible to get one off your own in an event chain which triggers if the scourge spreads far enough. The queen is not strong on her own but she automatically generates (and regenerates) a fleet.
You know, if the next play through is definitely going to be with 2.2 in effect, it'd be a really nice nostalgia trip if we saw the return of one of the older species (my vote is for the Screk). I should mention however that the Cash Cactus play style would probably work quite well what with all the new changes, since slaves cost less to upkeep. But that's probably not going to happen since it would mean back to back slaver runs.
A "Tips and Tricks with Lathrix" video would be AMAZING. I've clocked over a thousand hours in this game, but I can't play as well as you even on the easiest settings, so please share your secrets!
30:30 There will come a point at which the total amount of energy you can buy from the traders becomes less than the amount of energy you need, at which point you'll need to produce your own.
It's a bit of a common theme with non-Contingency Stellaris endgame crisises. You either beat them early and easily, or they spawn far away from you and grow invincible unopposed.
Lath, would you consider a play through in parts and skip less content? I would really like to see how your train of thought goes as issues come up during the game. Btw you are by far one of the most enjoyable Stellaris players to watch. Pleasant narrative and easy to follow while learning a bunch of things about the game.
Maniacal is a great trait. Unless they changed something certain scientist traits unlock more of the tree and Maniacal is one of the few that has an impressive range of "Normally locked" techs. I SOMEWHAT hope they changed it because it feels somewhat like cheating to get psionic techs as a materialist just because you lucked into a scientist trait that ignores that pesky limitation.
I'm only at 1:23:00 hours in, but Even if we count them not having any edict duration bonuses, it says that the already active edict ends 2427.07.07 that means that the edict was activated year 2327.07.07 or earlier, and the year the colossus hit is 2355, 28 years after that. They were also using caste system, and some of them were spiritualists even before that, so maybe they already had that ascension perk? Edit: 1 minute later... nvm.
Now that you've seen the Scourge, there's just one more crisis enemy you can fight (unless the new update adds one), and it's very atypical. It doesn't stop another crisis enemy from spawning and the game doesn't treat it as one at all, so the galaxy won't band together to help you fight it. The only way to see it is to be psionic and chance upon it in the Shroud. You should understand what it is when it shows up, so have fun trying to find it if you do.
Another thing, since you were psionic you could have communicated with the Scourge a bit more after they appeared. I believe you can also do this as a hive mind too.
Oh god...imagine if the Cash Cactus Combine and the Lathrixian Lobotomizers came into contact with each other! That would be far worse than every end game crisis! Plants obsessed with money and robots obsessed with making everyone cyborg! JESUS!
People: "WyVeRnS aNd DrAgOnS aRe DiFfErEnT. YoU cAn'T cAlL WyVeRnS dRaGoNs." Definition: "a winged two-legged *dragon* with a barbed tail." Etymology for every type of dragon: "Snake, lizard, viper, or worm."
See, I didn't like the Uplifted trait when I first saw it, but once I edited the species I realized that the Uplifted Trait is awesome because it's just Intelligence + Quick Learner, but it's free and replaces both. So if you have a species that has both (Like I did), suddenly you have 3 free trait points to spend plus trait picks.
Lathy, my dude. Do you understand what psychic means? Like, precognition? Like, reading peoples' minds? Of course you'll have incredible war capabilities if you know exactly what your enemy is going to do and when they're going to do it!
Again it's a nice video and I simply love your way of sarcasm and ironic. Is it possible to get two endgame crisis? I just started a few days ago with my second run, still on a vanilla Stellaris without any DLCs. And I had these strange subspace signals and suddenly the one eye wonders appeared, but exactly on the other side of the galaxy. AND from the start I was settled just between two fallen empires which just woke up and started the war in heaven. I have to admit that I bought almost all DLCs in the mid-game and they were directly implemented in my former vanilla game (for example I suddenly had a slave marked).
Although you're probably going to play a Megacorp empire next expansion, I hope with your new found love for harder ai and crisis you'll play a human Imperium of Man. Especially with the new megastructure that is essentially hive world/forge worlds.
I'd be super interested in a video about newb friendly empires. Especially with the release of the new DLC bringing in players and interest in the game!
I love dragons, but Lath you should become the Cash Cactian empire again with the Screk, and have the most absurdly powerful fleet ever. I meant that as singular. OK so maybe you shouldn't do another play through soon of slaves and masters, but try out using a single, super powerful fleet.
