I will show you the most mysterious medical procedure I perform as an anesthesiologist - the Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB). In this video, I demonstrate the procedure on a live patient suffering from PTSD and share how it profoundly changed their life.
The stellate ganglion is a bundle of nerves in your neck that plays a crucial role in the fight-flight response, contributing to symptoms like heart rate changes, sweaty palms, and dilated pupils during PTSD flashbacks, hyperarousal, and panic attacks. By numbing these nerves, similar to how a dentist numbs nerves with lidocaine, we can quiet the sympathetic nervous system and potentially provide relief from anxiety, irritability, sleep disturbances, emotional numbness, and more.
Watch the science in action as we perform the SGB on a real patient, who remains awake throughout the procedure. This patient's treatment also included IV Ketamine, administered after the SGB, for synergistic results.
If you or someone you know is struggling with depression, anxiety, or PTSD, it's essential to explore all therapeutic options. SGB and IV Ketamine are powerful therapies that can help uncover your healing potential and reduce reliance on medications. Remember, it's important to thoroughly research and interview the treatment centers you consider, and be aware of the red flags in unscrupulous clinics.
You have more power over your health than you might realize. Watch my other videos for more insights and stay informed about these life-changing therapies.

I've been disabled with PTSD since 2011. For EIGHT years I tried to get Kaiser to approve this, as I watched the PTSD get worse. Sadly, Medicare is no better. If only these treatments would be available for those who don't have the most expensive insurance. I already get cervical nerve ablations, which don't look much different. Not scary at all. Thank you for the video, though, and, as always, we appreciate your kindness. :-)

I would LOVE something like this for my anxiety. I have been getting nerve blocks for occipital neuralgia since 2016. It just suddenly hit me. The night before I felt nervousness and my body wouldn’t stay still to sleep. I woke up with the worst headache of my life & laid in a dark room for 3 days until I called my dr. He ignored me and by that time my neck was hurting bad. He told me I sprang my neck! 🤬🤬🤬. It took two weeks to get an MRI bc my dr refused. I had to go to pain management and the dr there ordered one and it wasn’t good when it came back. The dr was mad and said this is malpractice. I didn’t care I wanted out of pain. He gave me nerve blocks and I felt a bit better ina few days. He also suggested Ketamine and I was afraid of it and said no. I was on medication for anxiety, insomnia and depression so it scared me to death. What does the Ketamine do for a person? Is it a better alternative than antidepressants and anxiety medication? I would love to stop the medication.

Hey unrelated to this particular video but I just wanted to say: I’ve been dreading a surgery (parathyroidectomy) I was scheduled for because I was terrified of being under general anesthesia and possible injury to the laryngeal nerve (nerve that controls your vocal chords for anyone who doesn’t know) and wouldn’t be able to speak. It’s an extremely small risk but being an extremely anxious person, I was petrified for a month all the way to the surgery center. BUT your videos definitely helped me out a bit with my uncertainty. Thanks, doc. 360mg of controlled release propranalol had similar results for me. Like throwing a switch within days of taking the first dose. (started low, then worked up to 360mg). I could talk about how ketamine has revolutionised paramedicine all day. First started using it 20 years ago for analgesia, RSI, sedation, and if needed, an 'off' switch for combative patients. I actually know a guy who's trying Ketamine (microdosing), as a treatment for complex PTSD. He told me he feels like he's experiencing certain domains in his life like a child again, except this time, he's more in charge of dealing with the emotion his experiences invoke. The biggest gain by far is his sobriety. He stopped drinking, and not only has he managed to stop, he said the 'desire to drink' is gone. He's a changed man .

I know on the last part I can never step into a dentist office unless I wear noise canceling headphones with earplugs. When I drive or if I am a passenger I get so many triggers I pretty much only drive maybe 2 times every 6 weeks. The smell of burning oil, tar, or burnt rubber tires. I have had to pull over from hi-ways before due to triggers were my heart rate in a dentist office was over 220 blood pressure. Along with the PTS I also have chronic pain due to two genetic issues with my back which I take mega painkillers for each day. There have been many times when I can not even move my neck or back unless I take remicade to walk.

Interestig you are speaking on this today. I have multiple diagnoses which affect the Sympathetic Nervous System and cause Dysautonomia. The most prevalent, I believe, is Addisson's Disease. Along with the AD, I have Spastic Paraplegia. I have always wondered if this type of block could also help calm down my set of odd symptoms of my Dysautonomia. I guess the closes disease would be Aderenomyeloneuropathy.

As I looked into medication’s neutrophil peptides whatever reason I keep putting this gang blocked off probably because of the cost without insurance, but I would say I have those issues and always have trouble concentrating brain fog, malaise fatigue, so I guess probably time to revisit this

Hello from Australia 🇦🇺 I have a question. A while ago I watched a really interesting video where Dr Kaveh talked about “passive suicidal ideation” (PSI). I can’t find the video again. Does anyone know the video I’m referring to? Gosh, I have the worst brain fog, I hope I’m thinking of the right video and haven’t hugely embarrassed myself!!

Does insurance cover this procedure? I need to do something... whether it's this or it's ketamine infusions.... something. My stress from life, anxiety I gave always had my evite life... that got worse after my youngest son was born with an of his issues... then now my chronic pain and autoimmune disease.... I'm never out of fight or flight... I get high cortisol from being in fight or flight so much and from my chronic pain... something like this could maybe help me be back to before the cortisol. I might sleep again and possibly lose some of this weight...

@MedicalSecrets

I'm so sorry to hear about the RSD. I do not know why the local anesthetic infiltration worked better than the sympathetic block. It is likely because they are different subsets of RSD that we simply do not know or understand yet

Hi Doctor! I have severe anxiety with panic attacks that is only cured by being at home. I am terrified of having surgery, having a panic attack, and cannot go home. Does listening to music while under anesthesia during surgery help with anxiety and panic after surgery because the music is calming and takes away the sounds from noise in the room during surgery? thanks for any advise you can give. Sincerely, too scared to move forward in my physical health (I do take ativan, gabapentin, toprol, and lamictal)

I was watching your live stream, but there’s no comments and you’re talking about a clean blood supply. How can the blood supply be clean when we don’t have an accurate diagnostic for Lyme disease syphilis is big brother. Would it surprise you to know there are more reported cases of Lyme disease every year than HIV and invasive breast cancer combined!!!!!

How & why is ketamine used? I have an idea what it is & just wondering, is it only used just after the procedure or something one would have to take continuously after the procedure? ❤

I'm hoping you meant "periodically" rather than "continuously". "Continuously" would be a little bit risky.

I wonder if a pacemaker like device that jams the nerve impulses would do the same thing but allow for dialing in the sweet spot 🤔 Or simply using a TENS machine with electrodes placed near it? Fwiw i suffer from PTSD and the medications dont seem to work very well. I develop tolerance extremely quickly and it is beyond frustrating to have a med stop working in a week or two. 😢
