Thank you for sharing your knowledge! There seems to be a wealth of information about these guns out there, but some of the specifics I've noticed are somewhat hard to locate. Thank you again for sharing! I'm very thankful to have learned it, and hope some day I may pass on this information to someone in need as well!
joys of surplus mags, you never know what you're going to get, myself got 9 vigneron mags the spring is 12.5inch in most other then one or two, but also got 5 sten mags and first one I pulled out had a spring of 12inch and another a 13inch spring. funny enough both can fit each other. on one vigneron mag someone had filed down the mag lips slightly? and surface storage corrosion too then needs cleaning and reoiled.
I have repaired plenty of Stem mags. Those mags would have a tendency to rust under the section that has the feed lips. Not a fun job drilling the spot welds to get those plates off. I bought 20 Israeli surplus mags that had been blocked to hold only 27 rounds. They were in rough shape but cleaned up well and functioned perfectly.
Good job at making this video. Were magazines causing problems like during assassination of Heydrich? It is known it can easily fire if dropped, but i'm not sure what is the other problem that would make Sten malfunction (not firing). Failure to feed seems likely.
All M11/9’s made by SWD/Cobray used their own magazines. Sten magazines will not fit. I believe that some new M11/9 guns made by Masterpiece Arms use Sten Magazines.
An original M11/9 SMG or Semi auto pistol will not take Sten magazines. Some M11/9 SMG’s were modified to use Sten magazines. the new M11/9 semi auto pistols from Masterpiece Arms also take Sten magazines.
Looking into getting some old twenty rounders and converting them back to full capacity and was wondering about the old springs. It’s what brought me to your video. Great work!
@@noretreat151I don't know if they were shortened, but I will tell you that my 20 round brass rod blocked mags are all under 12" and I've checked 10 of them.
as a rule even in battle filed conditions 1) never fill your mags to the max keep it 3 to 4 rounds less than spec 2) if you are going to store it for a long time remove the rounds 3) if you are wanting it ready for home defense then stick to rule 1)
