Apply for title and/or registration by submitting the following in person to the county tax office: 1. Have Salvage Vehicle Title 2. Completed Application for Texas Title and/or Registration (Form 130-U) 3. Completed Rebuilt Vehicle Statement (VTR-61) 4. Applicant's current driver license or government-issued photo identification 5. Proof of current insurance 6. Proof of current Texas inspection

Thanks for posting the video ,I just watch it today and it is very informative , my question is about the inspection ,as TX is getting away with the annual inspections starting in 2025 ,would the salvage vehicles still need to pass a state inspection? Another question I have is about rebuilt vehicles from other states ,in order to be registered in TX do they have to pass a inspection again in order to be registered in TX? Hey Tom Will that new title assume a new identity? For instance, you replaced the body of the vehicle from a 2015 and the original vehicle is a 2000 Will the new title state 2015?

Thanks this makes a lot of sense. I am looking at buying a truck that someone did the repairs on and it is in good condition. But has salvage title. There is no history of work completed so what should someone put in that when buying the car.

I have a travel trailer with a TEXAS NONREPAIRABLE VEHICLE TITLE. I have no idea why an insurance company wrote it off. There's no sign of any damage or flooding. I thought I could use VTR-61 to apply for a Rebuilt title but I tried that this morning and they said I couldn't do that. I just had it inspected and it passed (they just checked that the lights work). I should be able to get a rebuilt title, right? They said since it has a "nonrepairable" title, it can't be repaired. Are there other options like getting a "shop built" registration? The weight on the nonrepairable title shows 5700, but I haven't had it weighed.

So, the insurance company will issue a policy on a car with a Salvage title? I assume you have to have insurance before you can get an inspection?

Hey man I got a rebuilt title car and my dealer gave me a temp tag but it expires tomorrow court house said they are backed up right now so it’s taking a little while to get my license and title but I went to the court and they told me they can’t give me another temp tag cause it’s salvage is there anything I can do

Hi, What if the car is salvaged title from out of state (IAAI). How would I get it registered in Texas and get a rebuilt title? Would I have to do form VTR-441 and then do form VTR-61 and 130-U? Thank you.

The vehicle is in fantastic running condition, everything seems repaired but the seller still had a Salvage title. He did not have any documentation or receipts (he did not speak English), and did not include a Bill of Sale. All I have is the Salvage Title that came directly from Copart to Allstate. Allstate is listed as the owner on the Salvage title. So my plan was to add the vehicle using the VIN to only Liability Insurance, get the vehicle State Inspected, and then list myself as the "Rebuilder." But I don't have any receipts or anything to really verify that all the repairs were completed. Again, the vehicle is in fantastic condition. I simply want to get the Salvage Title to Rebuilt so I can properly insure it for my son. Thoughts?

I bought a car with a salvaged title with minimal damage but I am in Ohio. Should I take multiple photos of the damage before and after before I go for inspection ? I will have all the receipts that have the vin . Great info . So if everything goes well you should get the title back in 45 days or less ? If a dealer buys a salvage car from an auction, fixes it, and then runs it back through the auction...do they have to provide receipts of the work done/parts purchased to the new auction winner dealer? Or fill out paperwork of work done for the next guy.

I bought a vehicle in Texas with a Salvage title from Ohio NOT a rebuilt, but I have a bill of sale here in Texas, I searched the VIN history in Ohio & Texas but no record of a crash but rather electric issues that were fixed the vehicle runs excellently with NO checks engine lights. If the vehicle is safe to drive but is only cosmetically too expensive to repair, then why does it have to be given a label that it's totaled? How does the DMV know what level of damage the salvage vehicle has in the first place? What stops me from saying I replaced the front fender changed the windshield and the rest of the ugly vehicle is good to go? This is a fuckin racket.

Hi, I liked and subscribed and thank you for the info. I bought a salvaged title vehicle from copart no license required and have pink title assigned in my name. I decided not to repair and sell it. Do I just sign my name on back of pink title on first reassignment of salvage title as seller and the buyer will take to county tax office and get salvage title after rebuild reassigned to his name? Then he can rebuild and follow steps in your video to get assigned a blue title with remarks "rebuilt" . I feel this is correct, just want to be sure. Thank you again.

Dealer says they will do inspection and apply for rebuilt title on my name when I will be ready to buy. I am confused to make deal without rebuilt title in hand because I heard that in TX we cannot drive selvage status car also without insurance, and for the insurance I will need to have rebuilt status. My question is, I am in Texas and never dealt with a Salvage title car before but everytime that I had to take a car with a regular "clean" title for a state inspection every year the inspector in the station asked for proof of insurance. So... how am I gonna be able to inspect the Salvage title car without insurance? since as far as I know insurance companies don't insure Salvage cars and they only do it after they are rebuild... Hi, I bought a vehicle that is already fixed & drivable. It was an out of state title so I went through the process of a bonded title. Inspection was & everything was given to me (plates & sticker) then about a month later I get a letter with the rebuilt vehicle statement needed to be done. What do I do in this situation? I really need the car but I can renew a the sticker since i’m required to do this. I also have no form of contact with the seller since it was a while back.

The condition is a state inspection, which includes an emissions test. In order to pass the emission test it is NECESSARY to drive the car approximately 200 miles for OBD2 .But I am not allowed to drive a car that has a salvage title! What about it?!!!
