You can do regular hair trims which will help with the damaged ends. Also using a leave in conditioner regularly and doing conditioning and protein treatments so your hair is nice and healthy for the next perm 😊 if the breakage is close to the scalp it could be because the band on the rod was twisted to tight to the scalp.
What perm solution should I use for previously lightened hair? I’ve grown the top half of my hair is natural, the bottom was slightly lightened. It’s healthy, I haven’t done anything to it in a a year. Have you ever permed over lightened hair?
I’ve permed my lightened hair with quantum ultra firm perm solution but I wouldn’t use that on lightened unless your hair is super healthy and takes chemical treatments well. They have a perm for lightened hair called quantum classic body and quantum 5 classic volume they are softer perms so I would go down a rod size to get tighter curls.

You don’t have to cut your hair ☺️ layers do help with fullness but aren’t totally necessary. I’m actually growing my hair longer right now with my perm 😊 aww thanks 🥰
Is it better to color your hair, wait, and then perm? Or perm, wait, then color? I've had a perm professionally done on bleached hair before but now I dip dye my ends pink. I need to recolor but also want a perm. Not sure which route I should take doing both!
Hi I know I’ve asked a few questions and sorry for that haha. I have ordered the Quantum brand however they didn’t have the firm one. I’m using the Acid one. Do you think it will be as good? Do you know what the difference is?
That’s totally fine lol ☺️ glad to help an acid perm requires heat and is gentler on your hair. If you have a blow dryer that will work 😊 If the perm is medium to firm curls it will be curl but may not be as curl as a ultra firm solution the first perm I did I used a firm solution. When you get the perm solution if you open the box there are printed instructions inside on the box which is always nice 😊
During the day I just leave it down. At night I put it in a very loose pineapple on the top of my head with a satin ponytail and I have a satin pillow case.
How many minutes long do you leave the Neutralizer solution while the rods are on, then minutes long after the rods are entirely off and the the hair is loose?
You put the neutralizer stays on for 5 minutes then you take the rods off and work the rest of the solution in for a minute then rinse your hair for 5 minutes ☺️
You could totally perm it now 😄 I would leave the perm solution on for the shorter time the box says and unwrap one of the rods partly to see if it’s curly and if it’s not wrap it back up and perm it for the additional time 😊
i know this video is old but what kind of shape does your hair have to be in? I dyed mine last week but i wanna do a perm do you think it’s in an okay state to be perming ?
If you just did a dark color I would wait another week 😊 you can always do a couple reconditioning treatment to prep your hair. And also using a leave in conditioner 😊

I went to the hairsalon and I showed her a picture of really tight curls made my appointment when I went I was very happy and charged me 200 dollars for very short perm hair and she did what she wanted to do instead what I wanted to when my hair was done I only hade curls on top and the bottom of the hair is straight I dunno what todo I'm very disappointed I paid 200 for uneven curls shaking my head
Hey @ApriLynn I did the perm it'll be 48 hours tonight at 8pm since I've done it. My hair isn't as curly from sleeping on it etc. Once I wash it will the curls look the way it did when I took the rods out?
Is the girl helping a professional stylist? U said to buy this from sallys u have to be a pro? Jw.. My daughter and i are about to try home perms since i went to a salon and she wouldnt perm my hair. I dye my hair maybe 2 to 3 x a year and she said it was too damaged . i got perms all the time when i was younger and been dying to get one its been like 15 years since ive had a perm .. Doing some research . u said it was no worse than dying ur hair so idk what the big deal is ??

WOW great video and great results. Ive watched some videos where there saying there doing spiral curls, but it's just a very lose spiral curl which I dont want. Your curls looks absouletly gorgeous! How long did this perm last you? Until it grew out?
Hello , I’ve been watching your videos for the longest and I’ve always always considered a perm but I’m black and I was wondering if I can achieve this type of curls with wave nouveau and red rods ? x I have 4c hair so maybe it will a lil thicker but will it be alright x
Thanks for watching! 😄 I’ve never personally used wave nouveau but I think it would turn out great! Everyone’s hair will turn out a little different due to texture and and thickness but I think you could achieve a curl pretty close 😊
