Goodmorning @Chandi ! Beautiful intro. Lovely shawl, I’ll make it for my Sister in Law. Think I’ll go shopping at your site right now. Have a gorgeous day, beautiful one 🌹🙏🏼🌹my feelings about the Sea are varied as I have a little brother in Florida and I’m worried about him in the storm right now. But… I LOVE THE SEA. It’s my favorite place. I hope to visit my brother soon so I can get some healing from the Sun, Salt and Water ! Many blessings 🌹🌹🌹
I have a home that overlooks the Puget Sound in Anacortes Washington. This is a magical place on the water in the forest. It is full of the rhythms of nature. I love the the colors of the yarn you design as they invoke the same embrace of natures nurturing hug! Thank you!!
Thank you for sharing your inspiration. The ocean shore to me is like church it represents all of the emotions and feelings we have as humans. Yin yang push pull=balance. Thank you for the reminder.
To me, water is one of the most healing things, whether its my feet in the bitter cold water on the coast of maine or floating face down snorkeling in warm water of the carribean. My body relaxes and I feel connected to nature and the universe
Having grown up on the beaches of South Carolina, the sea reminds me of endless memories of fun with family. The family is no longer with me, but the memories remain.
well, I'm afraid of going into the water but i love earring the sound of water, the rain falling on the window or passing through the leaves of the tree when i'm under it, the sound of the waves, the come and go mouvement of the sea on the shore, it's so calming for me, hypnotic also and I can stay for a long time just watching th sea and earring its music. (I hope do not make much mistake, i'm french and my english lessons are so so far away.)
The sea makes me long for time with family. Many of our family vacations were at the ocean. The warmth of the sun and the sounds of the waves brings me right back.
I love the beautiful different shades of blue of the water of the sea and how it matches the blue sky. I enjoy sitting down and watch the waves come down.
I love the sea, it is calming, mesmerizing, and I could easily live near the water. I believe everyone should visit the sea, or ocean at least one time.
Beautiful! The sea is my absolute favorite place to be. Its completely therapeutic for me and I wish I could live by the ocean. The smells and sounds stay with you. I love Chihuly!! His work amazes me 😍
I LOVE the sea. Standing on the beach as the wind blows all of my troubles away and the constant crashing of the waves calms my heart and soul... truly a mesmerizing experience! ❤🌊 That's why someday I want to live within (a few hours) driving distance to the ocean ☺🌼
Being by tha ocean 🌊 is my sanctuary. It’s where I elect to be to be deep in my thoughts and reflect, to write, gain insight for creative ideas and, when releasing negative energy. Being at tha ocean allows me to experience necessary deep relaxation, especially when I’ve been overwhelmed/overstressed. I’m a Scorpio♏️, and Scorpio ppl go through a lot of transformation, death and rebirth. So, I know for me, it’s a must to spend plenty time by tha ocean.
Beautiful! The sea is my absolute favorite place to be. Its completely therapeutic for me and I wish I could live by the ocean. The smells and sounds stay with you.
I love the ocean...everything about it. When I stand at the edge of the water I think about how small I am in comparison and how it supports so much life. The colors of the water, the salty air (seriously, if someone could bottle that scent I'd be all over it!), the breeze, the sound of the waves crashing. The ocean is Mother Nature at her absolute best. 🌊
Beautiful. I hope you didn't lose power. We just got ours back. I really appreciate these relaxing videos. As for the sea, I love the sound of waves. I often have dreams of living in the ocean. It almost feels like I'm from the sea and am only here by accident. Maybe because I'm a Pisces? I really want to make this pattern too!
The sea to me is my grounding place, when life is hard its a place to forget. The vastness and what can be out there, the smells and the sounds put me into such a peaceful safe place. It is my peace ❤
Hi Chandi, I love the colors of all the yarns. My favorite thing about the sea. Is the difference in colors and the salty that around it. I enjoy the warm splashing when you are just standing in it.
Hi Chandi The sea gives me the feeling of calmness with it’s majestic vastness especially during the morning or evening sunsets … so appreciate you and your amazing gift of your love of the craft of knitting & crocheting 🤗
I feel that there are 2 categories of people, the ones who prefer the mountains and the ones who prefer the sea. Although I love the mountains, and going there for a vacation (in summer) is great, if I had to choose one place to live, my heart's choice would lead me by the ocean. I love everything about it, the sound, the smell, the view. So soothing! Unless there's a hurricane, and then you can't help but feeling a healthy dose of respectful fear...
I’ve always loved the ocean since I was a kid I always went if I had stress I’d go and sit there for hours no matter what time of day just love the sound the smell just being there is so calming love the sand on my toe s it’s my favorite thing to do is go to the sea I’m drawn to the sea just a relaxing place to be ❤
Beautiful. Looks fairly easy! I love those colors. I used to crochet A LOT. I had to give it up after I had a stroke. But I think I am well enough to give it a try again. Who doesn’t love the ocean? I am excited!🤗
The ocean is both enchanting and dangerous. I love the different colors of the sand, water, and sky together. It calls to the adventurous heart to see places unknown. It holds so much complex life beneath the surface while looking so simple at the same time. It hides mysteries and connects the continents together. It feeds the world and at the same time can unappologetically swallow ships and coastlines. It can be both home and safety while sitting on the quiet beach and at the same time being dangerous and unpredictable when the wind whips into a frenzy. It is tantalizing, therapeutic, terrifying, and awesome.
Beautiful shawl. Love, love, love it, the colors and the shape. Amazing! I love looking at the sea and all its beautiful colors. It is so peaceful and soothing just watching the sea.
Chandi, you are a kindred spirit. Beauty and wonder at every step, even in the mundane and decay. As for the sea, it awes me and calms me and scares me and mesmerizes me. We just had Helene pass by our shore and our barrier islands and downtown were devastated by the surge of the sea. We are small by comparison and would do well to respect the natural force that makes up the majority of our planet and affects weather. So much awe.
Wow…if ever I wished I could crochet, this would be the day. Such an inspirational video, descriptives and creativity! I’ve tried for years to crochet. Sigh. Thanks for giving me a nudge to try again. 😊
Water ways, waterfalls, the ocean, lakes, stream etc all call to me naturally. As a Pisces, I love the calm and stormy facets. The irony being, I don't swim, lol. Thanks, Janica and Chandi!!
I love the ocean, it is so different in every location, Hawaii's Ocean is so different than the California Coastal Ocean & every beach is different as well. So relaxing and exploring in and around is very enjoyable, remarkable sunsets,. The Ocean is it's own world💜
The beginnin of a high school English assignment from many, many years ago: The Sea. Vast. Powerful. Mysterious. Placid and lulling one moment, violent and tumultuous the next. Her mesmerizing Siren song endlessly alluring; even as the furious tempo, set by the thunderous beating of storm driven waves, warns of the danger of being drawn into her dance. Since time immemorial, a mistress both generous and cruel to those who spend their lives in her service. Bountiful in both sustenance and beauty, yet greedily claiming fortunes and lives in untold numbers. Still, no matter the countless lives destroyed by this capricious temptress, there will never be an end to the throngs that succumb to her calling. Surprisingly, I got a good grade anyway.
I spend all my winter on a very quiet FL beach with no buildings, only nature. It's soothing and beyond beautiful. I also bring my projects and work to the rhythm of nature.
The ocean is powerful! It is alluring and beautiful, but demands a healthy respect 🌊 the deep ocean scares me, but I love sitting beside the ocean with the sea breeze blowing in my hair and looking in crystal clear rock pools ❤
Absolutely gorgeous shawl and yarn! My next project for sure! I love the sea/ocean! My favorite place on earth is the Mediterranean sea which I have been to several times. Thank you for this beautiful video!
This will be a relaxed. And enjoyable stitch to learn. I can't wait to make this. My sister-in-law has a birthday coming up. It will be a great gift. Always love your. Shawls thank you
The Ocean ……I live on the West Coast, and have most of my life. Twice I have moved inland, and twice I ran back home. Her awesome power. Her majesty. I NEED to be near the ocean. I can’t imagine ever living more than an hour and a half from her. As always, think you for all of these gorgeous patterns you give us! Your yarn was the first hand-dyed yarn I bought; and remains my favorite. Thank you so much!
So pretty! I love the open lacy look of this shawl. The sea reminds me of all the feelings of falling in love. My hubby and I met in Pensacola, FL, and the trips to the beach we had while we lived there were so fun, exciting, full of love. The wind, the moisture, the saltiness - all bring back so many memories - dates, expecting a baby, and then bringing baby to the beach. 🥰💕
I love looking at the sea because it's so beautiful, both when it's calm and serene and even when it's blasting in a powerful storm. That said, I like being on it from time to time, but I don't really like being *in* it. It can be scary, and I respect that.
I so miss the ocean being from California and moving to Nebraska 9 yrs ago. Getting closer to retirement age but California unaffordable for me. Those colors are so true to the ocean and sunsets!
Beautiful yarn, gorgeous shawl! The sea is ever changing, sometimes relaxing for the view and sound, sometimes dramatic for a windy storm. Thanks for another pretty pattern!❤
Rolling waves of change & the whisper splash of possibilities, scents of memories, sliding pools with a nostalgic muse that drapes our soul in relaxation. Liquid, fluid life!
This shawl is delightful. I've been to Puget Sound and recall feeling mesmorized. Also. during a college study semester I enjoyed a rowboat trip on the Caribbean. Forty years later I still remember the still blue sky and water of God's creation. I'm still in AWE! The new yarn-oooh! Great teaching! Continued blessings!
I’ve only been to the ocean once. I will never forget that experience. I got to share it with my husband and grandchildren. This shawl reminds me of the power of those waves. I was amazed, and humbled. Your beautiful yarn shows such strength and beauty all at once. A delicate balance, perfectly captured.
It is a lovely shawl. I do like the airiness of it. The single color is the way to would do it. I have done other of your patterns. The items always work out so beautifully. Thanks for the inspiration and your imagination through your tutorial. I also love the Puget Sound area. I haven’t see it since 1981. Lovely memory
The ocean/ sea...hmmm, how shall I explain, I have a love loathe relationship with it. I absolutely love the "idea" of it. The beautiful color, smells, being at the edge of land, having a carefree no worries state of mind. I have the flip side of it all, it scares me, I never in all of my 60 years learned to hold my breath while swimming, the sand in ALL "the" places, the earth that moves under you with each wave, and let's just not get into what's in it... omgosh....I have memories of the ocean that fill the spectrum of emotions. The very first time I met her, a friend had and I had driven all night and landed at her edge in the middle of complete darkness, I smelt her, tasted her, heard her crashing on the Pier, it was something else. Something I'll never forget! I've had great memories with my family and my children loving it, while I sat fully clothed on a cooler. I've been with my sister and her kids and she, (the ocean) flat spanked me, hard lol I swear it was funniest videos material. I guess I deserved it for sassing her. Lol she pulled me in, I tried to get up, she pulled me in again, rolled me over a couple of times before she spat me out.... it was the highlight of our trip actually, we had good laughs over that. Any way all that to say I love this pattern and maybe someday I'll be able to actually get the yarns intended to make a specific project. Thank you for all you do.
Wow! Thank you for making your videos easy to follow. I am self taught and having someone like you showing me how to make a beautiful shawl has made me really enjoy making them. Thank you for your videos and great tips. ❤❤
You always have the perfect intro!! The shawl is beautiful. It is simple but at the same time elegant! Feeling of “CALM” is what I get when I walk on the sand or just at the boardwalk. I am grateful for living a few blocks from the ocean and walking at the end of my busy day gives me that sense of calmness! Thank you for the pattern and your tutorial.
Hi Chandi. Beautiful pattern by Janica Carter. The sea has always had such special meaning for me. My husband would take me down to Cape Cod or Maine or Florida all the time. We’d go for anniversaries and getaways and with our family. He would take me around to all the specialty shops especially the local yarn shops and then we would always go to the sea. I love the National Seashore. It’s breathtaking and majestic. I find my peace there. Sadly he can’t take me ever again, but I will get there. Thank you for another beautiful pattern.❤
You filled my heart with beauty today! Thank you for bringing beauty to the world. I was born in Seattle, grew up in the woods, and visited the mountains and all the different types of wa ter ways Washington has to offer. I love the ocean, as all life started in the salty waters (even the Minions)(heheheee), I feel at home on the Pacific shore as I envision the sun warms the water and it rises to the sky and then rains down, (I love the rain), and fills the rivers, lakes, and then flows back to the sea. Then I see my life flow like the journey of the raging river, calm as the sullen lakes and I understand that the journey never ends as the water flows back to the sea, back home. This morning as I took my grand puppy outside I sang a song, the Corn Mother brought to the Navajo about beauty while I was think of what pattern you are presenting us today and your words, the shawl, the yarn, just you, showed beauty and I appreciate that. Thank you. This version of "Walk In Beauty" is from Florence Loraine Bayes. "Now I walk in beauty, Beauty is before me, beauty is behind me, above and below, me". Sorry this is so long, but I wanted you to know how happy you've made me when you talked about Seattle. Thank you!!! Love the shawl so much!!! Love and hugs !!!
Beautiful shawl, it is amazing how the different colorways make totally different looking pieces. My feelings about the sea is that I find it rejuvenating, a quick healing from the soothing sounds. I especially love how mysterious the sea can be. Oh my, getting lost in my thoughts. Thanks again!
Your All Good Things Fingering Yarn colors are gorgeous, and present so many possibilities! I was fortunate to experience the Ocean standing with my Husband, on our Honeymoon in 1995, on Fort Walton Beach on the Florida Panhandle in April. The evening skies were soft to deeper pastel shades of cream to pinkish oranges, to blues and purples. The waves were low and steady moving in toward the shore. The temperature was in the low 70’s with a nice breeze in the air. It was like standing in a painting, looking out over the grand vista of the ocean, and feeling like I was part of it! God is so good. ♥️🙏🏻 You, Tim, and your staff are so good, as well! Thank you for all you do!
As soon as I saw this pattern, I ran over to EFA and purchased my yarn for this shawl, Best Day Ever. I am so excited. Even though the deep water of the ocean terrifies me, I love to watch the waves lap the sand on the beach. One of my favorite things to do here in Texas is camping on the beach. The sound of the waves at night is the best, most relaxing, drug free sleep remedy I've ever found.
