I'm mainly a lone knitter, able to get lost in the pattern and quiet the rest of life. I do enjoy a monthly knit and natter hour which, if im honest, is just a chance to share wips and fos and gain some well appreciated praise 😅 I can crochet in company better but I still prefer being left in peace during my crafting Thank you for always being that positive voice

I was in a stitch group before covid, but I was the only knitter/crocheter. The others did needlepoint. What was nice about the group is that we could learn what other people were doing. I could help with knitting/crocheting and others could help me with needlepoint. Being social once a month in stitch was nice. I would take simple things to make. When alone I can dive into the more complicated patterns, so both is a win win!

I knit at home. My oldest daughter (15) also enjoys knitting and crocheting so we do our own projects together. I have never gone somewhere to on something with a group of others.

It really depends on the project, some just need too much concentration for me to be able to socialize and knit/crochet, but I do enjoy being with other crafters to share the time.

Honestly it depends on the craft! Crochet I like to do in a group or around others. I'm much better at crochet and if it's a simple pattern I can just work without thinking and carry on a conversation or listen to a movie (that I've seen before lol) Knitting or cross stitching I have to be alone, or you can't be talking to me. Knitting is my weakest craft and it takes allllll of my concentration. Cross stitching I tend to zone out and ignore people when they talk to me, or I trail off in the middle of a sentence and never finish it. Unless the other person is also cross stitching I prefer to do that alone also. And this is a gorgeous shawl, my son actually really liked watching you work up the chart!

I knit alone simply because I don't have a knitting partner. Most of the people I know either dont craft or have different things they do. Can the slip knit pass be the same as ssk?? Since the symbol is the same.

I prefer to knit alone or with one of my friends who is also a knitter - because we are the type of friends who can sit and not have to talk - we are that comfortable with each other. I also want to say thanks for this pattern - my niece is getting married and has had difficulty picking a pattern for her wedding shawl. I showed her this and she was instantly- that’s it!! I find that knitting is very zen. I get totally immersed in my projects so it doesn’t matter whether or not I am alone or not. While knitting my mind clears and I become unaware of everything around me.

I'm definitely a lone knitter. It's almost meditative sometimes. When no one else is home I can enter another world where it's just me and my knitting. Sometimes in an evening I just get out a simple project and knit away whilst listening to the tv. This project is beautiful, yet looks easy enough for me to do. So pretty! I think for me i don’t really have a preference because I see and feel the value of both. It’s a well balance. I love the excitement of the love shared together over creating something with our hands and overcoming challenges, I also love when somebody is new to it and seeing their excitement over their first creation and how they can’t believe they did that 😊 you see that passion and admiration grow and blossom. Equally I love knitting and crocheting alone, whether I am working on a new challenge or the rhythmic of a pattern that’s calming. It’s rewarding either way. I am happy to say I don’t have a preference for one or the other, I enjoy it shared or simply alone.

I prefer crocheting to knitting, which I have never felt accomplished at. I like crocheting in a group on Wednesdays in my small town. I gather with other yarn lovers, quilters, spinners and weavers. It has been a wonderful experience. We may not get much work done, but the conversation is always uplifting and I come away with a heightened sense of community, and awe for the amount of talented women in my small corner of the world.

I joined a flax and fleece guild, the members always have something they are creating whether knitting, crochet or spinning. And it’s fun to be a part of a group that enjoy making while meeting. I take my knitting and crochet projects wherever I go, but am usually the only person making something. I find I can actually focus and listen better and feel this is more respectful than the folks who are fiddling with their phones or doodling.

Hi! I've never knitted with a crowd, just a couple of friends, but my favorite is knitting while playing your videos. I blocked the Chione this morning!!! As soon as this comment is complete, I'll head downstairs and cake up the Adobe kit. I love the Adobe colors and I used the Devoted kit for Chione and I'm head over heels in love with that shawl. I'm making the Crossaster with the Adobe kit for my niece because she loves my Crossaster doily and I couldn't say no. I carry my knitting/crocheting everywhere, literally, and any spare moment, I knit. But I’m an extreme introvert and don’t much care for crowds. Additionally, I’m the sole caregiver for my mama who has mixed dementias. We are together 24/7, doing anything in a group is not good for her anymore. As always, thank you for this gorgeous pattern! I prefer to knit alone. That way no one sees how much I frog - LOL Actually being a widow and 73, my knitting keeps me company and I talk to my stitches. "You little stinker, get over there" or "Don't you dare split". My kitties love their scrap yarn balls and my dog, Molly-girl, just looks at me and cocks her head as if to say "There she goes again". I love to knit in groups, but since moving to Colorado from Minneapolis I haven't found any knitting groups so am happily knitting by myself. I LOVE this pattern, but then I love most of the patterns that are sent to my inbox every Friday by EFA. I even gifted the blanket yearlong KAL from 2 years ago to my cousin who so graciously lets me stay in her home when I go back to MN every summer, and she was thrilled with the beautiful colors and stitches. This is FABULOUS! Definitely will be knitting this one! As for my preference, I guess it depends on what I'm working on. If I'm knitting something easy, or repetitive , a group is fine. If I have to concentrate, alone is better. Then there are times when I just REALLY enjoy the silence and peace of a moment of knitting alone. Your videos are a breath of fresh air. I usually craft alone. I like to prop open a book while stitching away, or I have something on standby for when my work computer freezes (I work from home). I don't mind knitting while hubby games next to me though. My LYS holds a weekly stitch night, which attracts a large crowd and is very fun, but it's up a flight of stairs, and I have really bad knees

I enjoy knitting with my guy 😊 while we watch TV or while he drives ❤ He never complains 🥰 I learned to knit and crochet from a very dear friend (who now has Alzheimer’s disease) as an early teenager then didn’t do either while raising the kids. Thanks to my son and daughter-in-law I picked it back up…it became my “sanity” and got me through an extremely rough period of several years before I got divorced. Now that I’m retired and have a happy relationship I spend most every day working on at least one and sometimes two different projects. Thank you for all you, Tim and your team do 🧶

I enjoy knitting when my husband talks in the kitchen, especially when he talks about current events. My favorite time is sitting in front of our wood burning stove when I am on fire watch. The cats usually occupy the only two rocking chairs in front of the stove.

I could've learned from her 40 years ago if I'd known, lol. I do like crafting alone. It's my "reset" time so I don't like being interrupted unless I'm doing the interruption.

I love the patterns I have found on your site. For knitting I am brand new. I like to knit in a group of people just so if I have any questions there is someone close by. I'm left handed so it is a bit awkward for others to help me. I have had people sit in front of me knitting something while I mirror them and it helps, and help them realize they can teach a left hander...(LOL) My mother tried to teach me when I was 10, but all I could comprehend at the time was crocheting. I enjoy both ways, I always have projects that are repetitive for the times when I'm sharing it with friends and family and more concentrated it ones for when I'm alone with my doggies. I also have the privilege to be able to crochet with my youngest daughter that just turned 21 and it's a full time nurse student and has two jobs, we soak every minute when we're together and we made our very first wearable together (Azorella )😊. I love to craft with others, but also by myself. Some patterns require more concentration, and I usually work on those alone. This beautiful shawl might be one of those to start, but as I get more familiar, I might be able to take it into a group setting. I love the hearts in this shawl, and will make one for Wrapped in Hugs, a project of the Gift of Life Donor Program where my husband received his heart transplant. How lovely! And I thoroughly enjoy the color and how it seems to just wrap around you! I find that most of the time when I'm either crocheting or knitting that I am alone. I don't think it's on purpose really, but just by happenstance. Knitting is more than a hobby for me, it was a way that I could help control some issues I was facing in college, by keeping my hands busy. So, when it comes to the question of knitting alone or in a group, I’m comfortable either way, it just depends on the situation and if I’m learning a new pattern. If I’m learning something new, definitely alone at first, then as I learn the pattern, I’ll bring that project into a group setting. I’m also used to being the only one who knits in my generation. Down in the Deep South, it’s a LOT of crochet.

I love knitting by myself when I have more complicated projects until I get the pattern down. For contemplative knitting, I enjoy working in groups. I always keep a project in my bag for when I am in a meeting.

I am happy knitting both alone and with a group. If it is a complicated pattern, I like to be alone to concentrate. Usually, if I am working on something complicated with a group, I make too many mistakes. With a group, I like easy knits. Anytime is a great time to knit!

That depends 😊 when I get together with my knitting friends I carry a pattern where I don’t have to count stitches and rows, but when I’m working on a difficult project I’m always knitting alone listening to my audiobooks

I primarily knit alone, it's just what the circumstances of my life dictate. But, I do like video-chatting with my mom and sister overseas while I'm knitting. And, if a had a local knitter friend, I wouldn't mind to knit together from time to time.

I've knit alone and in a group. There are pros and cons to each, but I generally prefer knitting alone. The (good) problem with knitting with people is that I'm usually enthralled watching other people knit, so I forget to work on what I'm working on!

I love knitting alone until I’m comfortable with my pattern. Then once I’m comfortable anywhere and anytime. I’m trying to get a group together in my community. I love watching you knit. Your explanations and stitches are so clear yet entertaining.
