a game is a game. if you really want to reward teams for the regular season, cancel the playoffs. The idea of playoffs isn’t really "fair," and the same arguments can be made that are made against a play-in. Playoffs exist because they keep fans entertained until the final game, not because they reward the best regular season team

@@sneezy-e The idea of playoffs makes sense tho, because if you are consistently winning throughout the season, you are proving that you should be considered a top tier team, and so the idea is that " Ok these teams have proven themselves to be the top teams, so now lets put them in the ring with each other and see who comes out on top." They don't just give the crown to the team who won the most regular season games because there is an understanding that throughout the course of the season anything can happen one night and cause a team who is technically "better" than the other to lose. So since you can't immediately crown the team with the best record, you can take the handful of teams that have the most consistently good records and have them prove themselves further until it eventually comes down to two teams. The understanding that losing one game doesn't necessarily mean you are worse than the other team even carries itself into the playoffs which is why the matches are played in series instead of a one and done.I do understand that playoffs probably exist somewhat to keep fans entertained, but imo they actually do a good job of making the game more fair, by giving teams who hovered around the top a chance to prove that the losses they got during the regular season doesn't necessarily mean they were a bad team but coulda been the result of many different scenarios. The playoffs to me does a good job of minimizing the outside factors that coulda affected a teams regular season and giving more to entertain the fans.

The NBA is way behind schedule, there's no point in finishing the regular season enough games have been played that pretty much all the awards are locked up, just play some games to get everyone warmed up and go the playoffs.
