“The Putin that is so irrationally demonized in America today, this Putin is the almost inevitable result of these unwise American policies. He is the effect, not the cause,” says Stephen F. Cohen, professor emeritus of Russian studies at NYU and Princeton.

Be aware this station is shutting down comments on some of his other talks which have been civil but also dissenting. Unbelievable how scared they are of us!

@@jacobjorgenson9285 For the WEF it sure is. High oil prices leading to a consumer bust and a reset to be done.

So many missed opportunities, so little regard in the USA for the inevitable future consequences of decisions not taken.

I had an argument once with someone who was convinced Putin was responsible for Sept. 11th. The propaganda runs deep.

How could they believe that irrational story since Putin was literally a "child" politician in 2001, he hadn't even gained control over the Russian oligarchs

Too many of us westerners believe our media is truthful and only Russian media use propaganda tools.

In the early years of the 2010' decade I watched (from Brazil) many videos and interviews with Mr Stephen Cohen. I found him intelligent, insightful and knowledgeable on the Russian-West relationship. Then he disappeared from the media and I lost track of him. Now, some weeks after the beginning of the Ukraine war, I remembered his wise admonitions at the time and made a search to see what he's saying about the present state of the international affairs (only to learn to my deep sorrow that he's passed away a couple of years ago) . The video above is just a small capsule of his ideas and how the US and the West would be in a better position today had they adopted the wise policies based on détente he'd been proposing for the last 30 years.

Had this honest Professor spoken in 2022 he would've been canceled by the mainstream media and called a Russian bot. However, no objective mind can deny his accuracy.
