I always admired my old man, he made my life difficult but I now know that he just wanted me to be a better version of himself. He wanted me to have a better life than himself which was made impossible because I only wanted to be just like him. We lost him to cancer at 62 years old, I was barely 30. It's almost been a year, and one hell of a rough one. But goddamn I am my father's son 💜

I lost my dad when I was 15. This song wrecks me. I turned 40 this year. I outlived my old man and have been without him longer than I was with him. It's odd how a lifetime ago and yesterday can be the same amount of time.

I lost my father less than a year ago and im named after him making me a Junior also and this song literally stopped me in my tracks. For 46 years until he passed I always felt like I lived in his shadow but this song made me embrace the fact we are the same and to be proud of that. I wished my dad lived long enough to hear this song so he could have understood how I felt. Thank you Stephen Wilson Jr.

I fought for years competitively sharing the love of the sport of boxing with my father. He was in the Golden Gloves and fought in the pan American games. He died in 2019. I ran his construction business for a few years and then switched my career. I have no regrets. I love you dad. I hope you are proud of me!

Im not named after my father but i followed in his footsteps. Somewhere along the way he lost his battle with depression and the abuse he put himself through took its toll. I've lost my father while hes still alive and the example he set for me has faded for himself however i will never waiver... We dont talk, and he holds a grudge for no good reason... Regardless i rise above because i remember the man my father once was... I am my fathers son🙏🏻

Lost my dad in 2011 and thankfully have many videos as a record. Lost my mom in 1983, when I was 8. I used to have 8 tracks of her playing guitar and us singing and talking, and even arguing with each other. I have no memory of what her voice sounds like. I wish I still had those 8 tracks.

I’ve listened to countless songs in countless genres and never shed a tear, until I came upon this man. And not only has he written one song to put a tear to my eye but multiple that has me balling my eyes out every time I listen. If you’ve found this guy, then you’ve found a treasure. If he don’t blow up and become famous as hell for his lyrical genius then there’s definitely something wrong with this world. His lyrics destroy any walls I have built to keep me safe from falling apart.

Have to say even though it's not my genre of music it's a great sounding song. Unfortunately I can't feel the lyrics as others would since I had a terrible father that I really don't know. But I can see the love he had for his father and his father for him.
