One Album Group. Initially, vocalist Jeffrey Hawks and guitarist Joey Newman knew each other from the band “Don And The Goodtimes”, and they played together with bassist Bruce Hauser in the famous progressive-psychedelic group “Touch”. After the breakup of the group, these three and drummer Len Fagan, who joined them, formed the heavy blues-rock band “Stepson” in 1974, which released the same year an interesting and good album for its genre... Almost all the material was written by the members of the group themselves, and The backbone of each track is the dialogue between the vocalist and the fuzzed guitar. Jeff Simmons guest on one track. I want to share with you another lost masterpiece from the early 70s. American band from Trenton. Alexander Rabbit - The Hunchback of Notre Dame (The Bells Were My Friends), released in 1970. Very pleasant and melodic album. Organ, drums, non-intrusive guitar, orchestration, vocals. Highly recommend.

dense sound, overdriven guitars, transistor sound. all the songs are not boring. proto-hard rock with garage rock elements.

Is that a photo of the band on the album cover? They look like The Little Rascals or The Dead End Kids. Cool Animals cover. "Apologize" sounded like Detroit soul. "Man I'm A Fool" blues rock "Turn Like" gave me Mark Farner, Grand Funk vibes. They had a "LiL Bit" of a "Rude Attitude" They ran the train off the tracks Stepson rocked. Great album. Cross-country album

I wonder what kind of fuzz they used. Doesn’t sound like either a Fuzz Face or a Big Muff, and there weren’t a ton of other choices for fuzz effects in 1974 like there are now. Almost sounds a bit like a cranked Fender Tweed Deluxe amp, because those have a sort of Velcro-ripping sound like that when turned up all the way.

In a strange irony, I think this band would have done better if they were not in LA!!!! I just don’t understand how record companies fuck up on a great band and waste time on unbelievable garbage that gets more money shoved behind it. Heavy radio was all that it took, even if it was one region, it would spread.
