I start a job in a week with absolutely NO experience in Sterile Processing. Then in about 2 months I am set to start surgical technology classes that will last for 2 years. And I am a single mom of a 3 month old baby. I'm so so nervous--mainly for the job in sterile processing because I know nothing at all. But where there is a will, there is a way. Great video, thank you!
Well congratulations 🎉.being nervous is part of the process totally normal. Just be ready to learn and ask questions. It’s ok it you don’t know something😊 all the best. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I'm going to be sharing your video with my class. They are getting ready for their internship. I know they will appreciate your honesty. I know I did!! Thank you
***Update I passed my exam! I do have my provisional certification. I NEED 400 hrs ASAP I don’t want to retake that exam. I’m taking your advice on being proactive, and not giving up On getting my foot in the door. In CA your right it’s a very high demand here, but I just can’t understand why they are being so picky with the amount of experience here. I’m going to keep on moving!!
🎉🎉🎉🎉✅congratulations on passing your exam!!!! that the attitude of a winner. Keep calling and reaching out to Sterile Processing Department preferably to the Director of Sterile Processing. Hey email address if your not able to speak to someone on the phone. All the best and good luck. Please update me when you get something💕🎉
Hello, I'm in school now studying to get my high school diploma online and my program is studying for sterile processing. It's a lot of reading but I am a reader so it really not too bad. This is something i never thought to do and its very interesting. Thank you for sharing your story and your personality is awesome!! Have a Blessed day!
Thank you. Well congratulations 🎊 to you and it’s a big plus that you love to read because that book is no joke if you don’t like reading. All the best and you can do it🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊
Hi new subscriber here. Thank you for this inspirational video. I've been thinking about either going to school or buying the book and learning the material myself for Sterile processing technician. I would love to see newer updated videos about this profession if you have the time. Thank you. 😊
Thanks for posting this video. I’m in CA, I noticed that a lot of job postings are requiring 1-2 yrs experience to work. I finished my online program and now studying for my exam. Also In CA we have less options as far as internships. Any advice on how I can get my 400 hrs if a job won’t hire me? Also was there a lot of Medical Terminology (human body and Disease) on the exam, besides the actual Sterilization part? It’s great to keep seeing Black women MOVING UP with their education, and being a role model for their kids. My sister received her Masters at 45 (wife, mother, and worked FT) I’m proud of you!!👍🏾
😊thank you. Yup California job market for sterile processing is booming right now. I would say call hospitals and ask to speak with the Director of sterile processing and ask if you could volunteer or do they have any paid internship positions. If your not able to speak with them ask for a email to get in touch. If you can actually get in without being certified even if the pay is not much do it if your willing to make the sacrifice. Most of the time once your certified they will hire you. Wishing you all the best you can do it🎉😊
I finish school in 2019 I didn’t start working until dec last year. I took my test yesterday and I failed so I’m studying once again. Girl I went thru the same thing with my chicken pox vaccine
Well congratulations 🎉 to you for not giving up. Let me know if you need any study tips. If your on Instagram DM me @dallesha_walters we can chat there.
Hi thanks for your question. When I worked in a hospital it wasn’t flexible. I work at a surgery center and it’s very flexible. I do 4 10 hour shifts I’m of for 3 days back to back. I don’t work weekends.
Good question. While I’m not able to tell you the exact number I can give you a range from $25-30. I have 4 years of experience. Hope this helps. Oh it’s ok to be big on the money.
Great question. The agency that facilitated the program, was also in charge of the hospital Sterile Processing department. So they basically had access to the department and allowed us to do our internship. (Free labor) under the guise of internship😊👀
Hi . What is the name of the school of program you went to for 9 weeks in New York. I started reading the book on my own. I am in the NYC area. Thank you
Hi. Sipsconsults.com they are based out of Texas. Not sure if they are still in NY. But go to the website and it should give you updated information. Hope this helps😊
Welcome to the party 🎉 😀. If you put crcst in quizlet search bar 500 questions should come up, those are the questions I practiced. I also used Proprofs to quiz myself. Hope this helps.😊
Congratulations 🎉 on your interview. They are not expecting you to know everything. They might ask you basic questions like what’s the purpose of sterile processing. Decontamination process. Just go with a positive attitude and the willingness to learn. Let’s be for real personality and the right attitude goes a far way. Good luck all the best 💗😊
Hi. Unfortunately the program that I did is no longer around, however you can go in there website and I think they have an online option. Sipsconsults.com
Thanks for sharing. I start my internship next week after years of graduating and never working in the field. I have no knowledge of anything but im ready to learn. Any advice?
Well congratulations 🎊 on your internship. Be positive and ready learn, ask questions and just know this is new information, but with time and patience you’ll will get it. Wishing you all the best you got this👍🎊😊
Hi, my classes was at a hospital . Sips Consults was the agency that used to run the Sterile Processing department. The hospital is in Westchester NY. They are no longer there but you can check there website to see what’s up.
Every state is different. For example NY you have to be certified, in Ohio you don’t have to be certified. So check to see what you need for your state.
