I saw someone have some bizarre accuracy issues with Sterling 12 gauge slugs. Was confirmed with multiple shooters and the issue went away with an ammunition swap. Just putting out an FYI.
Awesome video Graham, I’m always on the lookout for more affordable ammo. This video is important because people need to be aware of how to look for dangerous stuff. Please do more of these videos. Thanks dude!
Thank you. I was thinking the same thing, folks need to know what's out there, could be good, could be bad. As shown in the article I think the only caution would be the energy level for those with soft wrists or stiff recoil assemblies.
That's for testing this out for us. I'm so glad ammo pricing is coming back down. Luckily for me, I ordered my bulk shipment right before the prices went crazy unfortunately that means I needed to be conservative with it, too.
Good approach, like hand guns, Ammo testing is also a very important factor to look for, Sterling have just recently came up with POF (Pakistan Ordinance Factory) collaboration for 9mm manufacturing with a green pigment kind of thing around primer , like the old army surplus rounds that can be stored for a long time. using it and is a reliable stuff
Like when I see the same Chinese electronics on amazon and ebay under 5 or more different brands, I get skeptical about the quality. Did the ammo KABOOM a few pistols, and they just changed the name and packaging? Did the Aukey battery charger burn down an apartment building in Mumbai, killing 43 people, so they just changed the name to Tifu?
@@TheSuburban15 Imported new manufacture ammo is generally higher quality than US loaded non-premium defensive loads - not like that's hard - but it's sometimes good info. For instance NATO/CIP specs tend not to err on the side of caution like SAAMI as they can assume your gun is in good order and in proof, and imports and importers come and go faster than an ammo plant ever will.

I've had great luck with Turkish ammo. My favorite so far is the SAR 124gr NATO, and there is another brand that my local Dunhams sporting goods has been stocking, called Venom 115gr . All shoots very clean and accurate.
I Luv your 5.11 tactical shirt !! Anyway, don't let anyone fool you into believing the "Golden Bullets" are copper & brass + other Alloy, the golden bullets are always Pure brass jackets. it WILL NOT damage your firearm, but as I am old fashioned, I love good, pure, lead & copper jacketed bullets !! The Sterling ammo is made in Turkey it's good cheap/affordable stuff, I just use it in my Turkish made handguns, it's good in a Canik, or Girsan hi-power, or a Zig 1911. I learned A hard way, that you should use a calibers country of origin with the same firearm made as the country of origin !! AS IN, a WASR-10 or AK-47 variant works flawlessly with steel case 7.62x39mm, also a .223 or 5.56 Nato in any platform, works great with, brass cased & a lead with copper jacket bullet !! Also, AS IN a .45-70 cartridge should be made in the USA. if U buy an American caliber made anywhere in Eastern European regions, U R asking for trouble !! 😅
It may be good and cheap"er" at $14 but when you add in shipping, its more expensive. I can get CCI Blazer 115 grain for $15.00 locally and still be cheaper than this place with shipping and i already blew thru about 500 rounds of CCI Blazer with zero failures.
@@GBGuns not going to say they are my "favorite" but they are cheaply priced and all 4 of my hand guns and my S&W M&P carbine all fire these CCI Blazer with ease and NONE have any failures. They work, they are cheap which is a great thing.
I think Blazer Brass and the Independence bulk 9mm is actually the same ammo, down to the headstamp. I don't shoot much factory ammo, but the Blazer brass has been working well for me beyond 1000 rounds. I have about 3500 stashed for classes
I bought 500 rounds of sterling 9mm and my stock Glock couldn't get through a mag without multiple malfunctions for the entire 500 rounds. I think I got an incredibly underpowered batch. Everybody knows a stock Glock will eat about anything. I hadn't had a malfunction in multiple thousands of rounds until this ammo. It was miserable. Glad yours worked well, but mine was Awful.
@@GBGuns Yeah for sure! There is a sample size with everything. Just throwing in some of my experience. Mine was with the steel cased also** Good info and great testing with the Chrono.
Same with me, Glock 19. It wasn't eating it. Malfunction every mag. My 509 took it like a champ. I just bought some bulk of this. .22 cents a piece after dividing insurance and local taxes. Quite upset.
Nah dude sterling just makes bad ammo. I tried running this through my Glock and the shell casings expanded after shooting resulting in critical malfunctions where I had to disassemble my gun to manually extract spent shell casings wouldn’t recommend to anyone but an enemy
My first 15 rounds of 9mm Sterling I had 3 duds. Went ahead and ran some CCI Blazer to rule out my gun, which I knew it wasn't. Hopefully I got a bad batch of Sterling because the ammo looks so nice for steel ammo.
Just received 1500 rounds of this copper fmj brass casing 115 grain. I've several guns Ill try them with this weekend at the range. If it goes well I'll definitely be getting more cause the price is great. $.23 per round.
It works perfectly in Stoeger STR 9, and Canik Mete SFX. Jams after every shot in a Berretta 92. It either fails to chamber or stove pipes on extraction.
i got (3) boxes of 200 winchester 115 grain fmj for $60 .. Have not shot them yet because at the same time i got these, i got the CCI Blazer's for the same price.
Saw this on Southern Defense web site. I need another box of 1,000 rds of 9mm. This was $200 for 1,000 rds but eventually, I paid $20 more for some Fiocchi instead cause I know the Fiocchi works.
As I was editing I wondered if using a Grand Power was "cheating" since it's accurate no matter what and has the hammer force to make just about any round fire.
I've heard something similar, but refuse to accept it. Yes costs have gone up continually since Obama shut down the last lead smelter in the US, but I don't liike being told what prices to expect; it sounds like industry messaging trying to normalize costs.
@@GBGuns that is an angle I hadn't considered. I usually keep about 1000 9mm on hand and I reload .38/357. As of now it's not cheaper for me to reload 9 so I hope the price continues to fall.
Are you talking about the guy not wearing eye pro and shooting at close range? I've seen that one. Shadow Systems also has known barrel quality issues.
Got about 6 rounds through my new Sig P365 before it failed to eject and jammed to point I will need a gunsmith. Anyone want some cheap ammo? I got 494 rounds...
