Imus couldn't even pull high profile celebrities. Actors and Musicians come on howards show all the time and Imus had nothing. So howard may not be a shock jock anymore but he doesnt need to be. What needs to happen is there needs to be young shock jocks to fill the void that howard left. They will probably steal howards ratings. But the internet has really made talk radio irrelevant.
@@anthonygordon9483 It's not that he has to still be a "shock jock". It's that he's become a pretty vile person. The stories of how he's treated the people who helped propel him to where he was/is are sad and disgusting. Employees of the show as well as long-time guests like Pat Cooper, who holds nothing back in talking about Howard's character.. The stories of narcissistic condescension, insecurity, and disregard for them are really incredible. What he did to Scott the engineer is unbelievable. The way he runs from his past and the very thing that put him where he his is laughable. He's a fraud. But, it's how he's treated people that's really the nail in the coffin of what he is.
Today Howard claims he has a wealthy, young, wealthy audience (now that his ratings/listenership are shit on XM). No one I know listens to his show, never mind Howard having an average audience of of 27 (which has been claiming for more than 10 years). No one cares about #howardstern His show is no longer comedy, interesting and even on SirusXM he is not the most listened to. Numbers suggest 1million max.
He's still the most original and creative radio personality in America and his celebrity interviews are considered by many to be the best interviews ever. You can verify this by comments from the celebs being interviewed.
@@chrisguitars5167 no way. Today he did Stump The Booey, and really stretched out the preamble because he has no real content (and that’s after being off for two weeks). He had Ralph do his complain of the week about the Chappell Show. He talked about Gary’s throat clearing and vinyl. He has nothing new, original and isn’t relevant or entertaining.
U are so spot on. Everything is so calculated. He takes fake callers from the back office. His star f'ing is so annoying. Esp the people he used to hammer like rosie o, ellen, whoopi & he had on arsenio hall the guy he wished aids on. Oh he is evolved. Please. He was still trashing people in his late 50s. Not many people change from 57 to 67. They talk about guys di"ks all the time & men's body fluids & if their fluids are ropey or dribble out. The best part of the show was Robin's news which is just gone. Probably bc robin would talk about celebrities or political topics & he does not want to say anything that will alienate any future guest & his politics are all b.s. he is really right wing if anything but his Hamptons buddies like alec baldwin & andy cohen are left wing.
Kind of funny listening to this decades later considering Curtis Sliwa from the Guardian Angels is one of the most popular radio personalities in NYC to this day.
@@Aaliyahchannel2024 i actually asked my Uncle and he reminded me about how he and Ron Kuby did a show together. Same thing as Hannity and Colmes back in the day. I don't remember it either. Talk radio lost a lot of its luster after early/mid 2000s when you realized these people were all controlled and just putting on a play
@@wcbranitly0692 gary was with them at WEnnnnnnnnBC. He was " boy gary" unless u are talking about when they started calling gary baba booey. I think that started at k rock
Always good for a laugh to hear Stern’s occasional rants on Imus. By this point Imus and Stern weren’t really competitors, as Imus had become sort of ‘prestige’ radio in terms of his guests and his market demos. Stodgy comedy morning show, but the old fart did bring in a good demographic.
He was horrifically bitter and jealous of Imus. Imus admitted for years he was on drugs and a bad alcoholic when he was nasty to Stern. And I have heard him NUMEROUS times say he felt bad how he treated him and he wished he didn't act like that. And say he'd go on Coward's show in a minute. Funny thing is, he became everything he accused Imus of being. Fraud.
Rules? Imus was forced into retirement when the company couldn't afford to pay him because of its low ratings. And no other station wanted him. Sad. Meanwhile Howard is still on the air.
