Why all the hate against this man? he seems to be honest, he has said several times that he fucked up, what else do people want him to say or do?....you can that even the female reporters seem empathetic to this man situation...

Because Balmer is an idiot. He laughed at the iPhone and years later tried to trump it with a phone hardly anyone uses. Balmer has no imagination; he just sees what is currently working and tries to put his own messed up spin on it. Windows 8 is a perfect example. Computers = extremely useful; tablet = extremely entertaining; computer tablet running Windows 8 = bipolar disorder. Windows 10 isn't that much of an improvement. I think Windows 10 looks good to people because we got a desktop back. It's still not a good UI. Windows 10 as a tablet just looks like you chopped off the keyboard.

Oh he definitely was let go. Ballmer just lived off the glories of Windows and it's adjacent products and failed to create anything new. Just compare Steve Jobs to Steve Ballmer, Microsoft having all the capital a company would ever want vs Apple which was 90 days away from bankrupt. And what was most annoying about this video was when Ballmer kept boasting about himself when he realized the interview was gonna be over.

Yeah but Ballmer never mocked a grown man for being a virgin. Jobs exhibited a decidedly anti-Christ spirit in mocking the virginal purity of a man.

I heard the board and Bill asked for his head after the Nokia deal. Microsoft should have had the Win Phone/Pad technology and market. They had the tech long before Apple did. Oh well, I was at Sony in 2000 and we tried to help Japan to market a Sony I-pod, but feel on deaf ears. Sony Music would have become biggest music company in the world. woulda shoulda coulda...

Actually, the pieces he put together for mobile were really good. The mistake was buying Nokia and ostracizing hardware partners who expect not to compete against Microsoft. Windows Mobile is easily the best mobile operating system on the market that now acts as a desktop replacement. Its the easiest to develop for, easiest to use, most secure, least resource intensive, and has the widest array of features. It's just that it was 3rd to market and people are used to Android or iOS as people are used to Windows PC.

@@KevinSmith-qi5yn Why bother thinking how HTC feels instead of focusing on making the Windows Phone better in order to be well adopted by customers. The main issue with Windows Phone was the lack of decent developer’s community and probably due to the lack of investment in one by Microsoft.

@@renaissance5494 Nothing wrong neither with Vista nor with 8... I used both. Vista was cool for it's time, well you just needed a decent hardware to run it, but this is as always the rule. Either you get good hardware, either you run Linux and better be not Ubuntu with the Unity interface as it's a resource hog too. Mac is another story. What I really like with Microsoft is that it made an inherently very complicated machine cheap and easy to anyone. Some will say that Apple did that before Microsoft. Yes but Apple products were never cheap and affordable to the poor. The IBM PC clones had very low prices because they were clones and were under heavy competition. The peripherals were plenty and cheap too. Apple had restrictions on third party peripherals for stability reasons. Of course Microsoft Windows weren't as stable and secure as Apple OS. However the Windows were good enough and affordable to really everyone (sometimes pirated). The piracy is very important factor because poor young people were tight with pirated Windows and even when afterwards got enough money for a Mac they preferred a PC because they we're accustomed to it. Windows were never as user friendly as OS or OS X but that didn't matter because they were cheap. Microsoft lost two great chances though. In 2003 didn't support as it should the Windows mobile 2003 operating system. Also the Windows XP Tablet PC wasn't supported good either. I had both of them. The Windows mobile 2003 with my Motorola phone were never updated and the phone was crashing sometimes. The native apps for Windows mobile 2003 were very poor. Also my Windows XP Tablet PC didn't had any special software appropriate for a tablet computer except a virtual keyboard. The software wasn't friendly with the stylus at all. Steve Jobs knew that he could win the global battle on desktop and portable computers. So he was focused on phones and tablets afterwards and won. Jobs was lucky too because during the early period of iPhone and iPad the mobile internet became cheap and WiFi internet was everywhere.

These companies have drastically different core values. Bill Gates said that Microsoft wants a computer at every desk in every household in every country around the world. Most of the time that doesn’t require quality but quantity. And I’m not claiming that Windows PCs are bad, it’s about the diversity where you can buy the machine that YOU can afford, and there is nothing wrong about it. Meanwhile, Steve Jobs said that Apple wants to make products that they would be glad to use themselves, the products they would be proud to recommend to their friends, families and the customers. That implies a certain level of quality and control that definitely pays off (look at the M1 macs or AirPods that are literally everywhere now. Without Apple, the computers would be completely different than we know them. And without Microsoft, they wouldn’t nearly be as widespread as they are. You can think whatever you want about both of these companies, but you can’t deny that both of them are equally important.

the problem with guys like him (Bill Gates in particular!) is that they didn't really use drugs of any kind except maybe for a little amount of mild alcoholic beverages IF their parents allowed that ... real drug users (light or heavy) usually have a perfectly clear mind too! they wouldn't make such stupid mistakes unless they are bastards that would never correct people who say moronic things like, "Bill Gates INVENTED computers!" ... yes, that's the problem with the 'Micro$oft mentality' that has also found its way into the not so bright half-brains of many technique savvy as well as advanced computer users too ... they -so wrongly- think Micro$oft is the ONLY software (and these days hardware) company that matters!

Ballmer had a lucky break, if not for the dispute with Bill Gates I'll doubt the board would even appoint him. Sadly in a high-tech companies, it's either the founders got kicked out first or being demoted to a lesser role like Larry Page, Steve Jobs & Elon Musk. Their replacement either a bonehead with paper qualifications e.g Ballmer but with no companying interest & passion towards the technology.

And he also acknowledges MS is not there yet in the mobile market. So I think he was pretty much honest in general.
