I haven't seen this video in years! I'd heard it when it first came out on the radio in the early to mid 80's. After that, it wasn't played very often. That's a long time ago, and I was a lot younger back then.
This was a well-produced Christian pop song and at the time on par with some top 40 music. It also reflects the tone of Christian music at the time: no compromise, live your faith, tell people about Jesus. Though this song emphasizes a relationship with God there's a tone of legalism (read your Bible, pray more, don't be so into MTV...stop being lazy!). Christian music has since shifted into encouragement, acceptance, and therapy. Interesting how times change.
@@lauriejean9306 I'm sorry to hear that. When people stray from Jesus' real teachings and heart and give into fear and legalism it's so damaging. 80's US Christianity left much to be desired, as it does today.
Steve is a pastor in Florida now. Most of his music is on I-Tunes, but alas this song is not! I wanted it for my workout playlist, but I guess I will have to do without.
I was just a kid when this video came out... WOW the memories it brings back, seriously I think I was like 6 or 7 I was born in 1980, I'm not exactly sure when this song came out, But I remember thinking how pretty "Jane" was and how much I wanted to grow up and look like her.... well yeah.. um not so much..LOL
