Your dad was the biggest influence on me when I first came to Jesus in 1992. I am still serving God today. May God bless him and your family for using his gift to help disciple many into a life of radical obedience to Christ.
Steve is still around, but has stepped back from the mainstream music scene. My wife and I heard him in a small show when in New York in 2001 and spoke briefly afterwards. Have deap respect for his convictions and reasons for no longer going mainstream.
Thank you so much.....this has blessed me more than you can imagine! I remember when I first listened to this song....I've been a Steve Camp fan for 20+ years! My first album was Fire and Ice and it was, and still is, one of my all time favourite albums....and I just love the collaboration of the musicians on his albums...Dann Huff, Jeff Porcaro, Michael Omartian, and other great musicians....
His wife left him and he was devastated. He even wrote a song about it on the cd, "Desiring God" - if one partner wants to leave, there is not much that you can do about it. He had custody of the kids, and raised them by himself. He only recently remarried. He did not want the divorce.
Great, inspirational. Steve Camp, where is he now? His music and devotion are very needed in today's christian music. I wish I could download this and more videos of Steve Camp. He is one of my heroes.
Steve is the young adults pastor of a church in the US, and runs a ministry called audience of One - google that for his website. His wife left him and he hit a few hard times, but he continues to 'guard the trust'
Steve left CCM in 1999 to concentrate on other projects. He also wrote his "105 Theses" shortly before he left the industry to protest the commercialisation of CCM and their watering down of Biblical truth for the sake of record sales.
how can someone like steve sing a song like this? you would think he would not be a stranger to god and his holiness. he seems so sincere and inspired. although i know the feeling about being a stranger, the feelings gone
@marshallcamp13 Your dad was such a big part of my early Christian life. I was introduced to his music at Taylor University in Upland, IN. Going to his concert was like going to a worship service. It was uplifting, encouraging, convicting and inspirational. God used him in a powerful way.
@marshallcamp13 I will thank God for saving your dad, then. He pulled me out of the mud-stuck rut that I was in. Especially with this song and he covers me. I would be honored so much in this life to have the chance to be able to sit and talk with this man. He has a heart I feel is close to mine. @davidbruceworship It's my understanding that he divorced, and he remarried. Why do so many Christian singers divorce? I don't get it. Everytime I search the net about a Christian singer that I listened to all the time in my early walk, I read where this singer or that singer got a divorce. I'm just wondering. What gives?
