I guess I'll say that again. Here that inflation compounds itself so and I'm not doing this but so if I make 20% more in wages then my taxes are higher. Especially if it pushes me into the next bracket and also not only my cost of living go up 20% but so does cost for the township, the school district, the state, the feds so that's what happens. Who pays that we do with higher taxes so inflation is just not sustainable and puts us all in a worse place

Letting the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act expire and “stay expired” would be a massive middle-class tax hike because the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act was a massive middle-class tax cut. Yes, wealthy people also saw their taxes reduced by the TCJA, but the law actually shifted a greater portion of the tax burden onto the wealthy. The TCJA doubled the child tax credit and the standard deduction while lowering everyone’s tax rates. Letting this law expire would cut the standard deduction in half, cut the child tax credit in half, and increase everyone’s marginal rates. Keep in mind that rich people don’t use the standard deduction, and the child tax credit phases out for the wealthy, and so these tax hikes would really only hit the non-rich. A family of five earning $90,000 (slightly below the median in Biden’s home state of Delaware) would see its marginal tax rate jump from 12% to 15%, and would see its $6,000 in tax credits fall to $3,000 under the Biden plan.

The discussion on inflation seems to always come from the perspective of people who have yet to build wealth. Imagine that you are in your sixties and have built what was, until recently, more than enough wealth to retire comfortably. Consider the cumulative inflation that has occurred under Joe Biden, and imagine how the purchasing power of your retirement wealth has diminished by that cumulative amount. That is what every single financial responsible retiree is now facing. These people, more than others, delayed gratification, saved, and invested over their entire careers, and now the rug is pulled out from under them as they seek to retire or to remain retired, as they deserve. It is a tremendous theft through economic policy.
