Steve and his family lived next door to my grandparents in North Hollywood, CA. He and his friends would go out and have jam sessions on the back patio with the amps loudly cranked up. This was early 1970's and none of the neighbors ever complained about it being too loud. Do that in today's world and cops would be all over it.

My favorite quote from this video; "All I ever wanted to be was a working musician". I respect the way Steve gives kudos to the professional studio musicians and emphasizes the foundational work that was put in. Too many fail to understand that to be great at your job, no matter what it is, requires learning your craft. ✌❤

Man, I love listening to Steve Lukather. Such a down to earth, humble guy and incredibly accomplished musician, and thought of very highly in the biz. Listen to people like Jay Graydon praise his work.

Thank you to everyone at the Musicians Hall of Fame for seeing the talent of Steve Lukather, David Paich, David Hungate. Jeff Porcaro, Steve Porcaro, Bobby Kimball (not sure if he did) and Mike Porcaro and inducting them in the Hall of Fame. Finally someone sees and heard how talented they all are and gives them all the proper respect.

Hi Tina....thanks for sharing your thoughts and watching our videos. Once TOTO was nominated it was a no brainer. Not only for “their” original material but all the artist they performed on their records too. I hated we had to exclude Bobby Kimball but any band that gets inducted.... every member must play a instrument of some kind on the recordings and we understood that Bobby didn’t. Just was the lead singer .... one of my favorites. I founded the MHOF to specifically focus on musicians and not the singer since the spotlight is always on the singer.... understandably .......but there needed to be a institution that put the spotlight on all musicians.... studio players to well known musicians to the public. I hope the R&R Hall will induct TOTO soon and at that time Bobby will be included along with the other members. Thanks again for your comment... Joe

Steve, I was born October 4, 1956 so just about a year before yourself. I also watched the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show and Dad got me Sears Silvertone guitar shortly after that. So that’s amazing to hear, but the big difference between the two of us is...you became famous! 😂

One thing I'll say just as something to think about and I don't mean to take anything away from anyone, especially Luke. Steve's meeting the Porcaro family was unquestionably massively life changing. (Which he said) The best teenage guitar player in Chanute, Kansas or South Bend Indiana or Little Rock or Albuquerque...these guys are lawyers or accountants or dead now; but growing up in LA in that era and having the influence & support of the Porcaros, indeed, just *seeing* that there was a future in playing music beyond local bar gigs was a tremendous influence on Luke.
